So for once a non-spoiler.
What do people think of the Trials? I haven't tried any yet.
The trials make the game more playable to me and I love it. For reference, I am this kind of gamer:
So having MOAR CHALLENGE ! is a very good thing. I do not pick all the Trials though. I go with Even Ground, Walk Softly, Rest Easy, Travel Light and Grizzly End. I love making a game feel more Dark Souls-ish. ![]()
SpoilerIf it was that simple, wouldn't he just work with Cory? I think there's more to this story than we're yet to find, which likely includes various other enemies Solas has. He even tells Inky at one point that he respects her being so thoughtful, therefore he WON'T reveal everything to her.
Also - I remember seeing paintings in the ancient elvhen library that appear to suggest what I've suspected all along - there's likely a specific time Solas can achieve what he wants, which are likely related to the position of celestial bodies on the sky (ECLIPSE!!!)
This. Solas is first and foremost, a Weekes character. He does not do pure black and white. He does gray characters. I believe Solas is not telling us much. Leliana also mentions that there have been strange happenings concerning Elves in Tirashan, whom she describes as being like Elves in the Arbor Wilds.
There are multiple players in Thedas right now:- Fen'Harel, Forgotten Ones, Evanuris, Blight, Titans, Qunari, Tevinter. I am sure Solas has more enemies that he lets on,
What's more, Solas is limited. Limited by his three main "weaknesses".
One is his uncompromising dislike for large organizations. Which means his forces will be small. If you notice, all his spies are basically Ancient Elves who were servants at Halamshiral for the Exalted Council or working for the Inquisition. They are not numerous but they do their job well. What I mean to say is that Solas will never win a fight on might alone. That was never the way of Fen'Harel.
Two is his view that everyone else in current Thedas are like Tranquils, with the exception of ancient Elves. Once again, this limits the amount of followers and by extension, the amount of influence and power he can have. I highly doubt people like Briala or Morrigan or Fiona will join him, no matter how pro-freedom they are.
Three is that he has come to care or respect the Inquisitor. He could have killed us at the Eluvian and that would have removed his currently biggest threat right now. However, he did not do it, out of respect and/or mercy. Our Inquisitors upon learning the truth about Solas, might not hesitate to kill him or depower him or Tranquilize him or foil his plans or prove him wrong. Whatever his flaws are, he has this weird and twisted sense of mercy and guilt which stops him from going full Corypheus but may be the thing that stops him.
Lastly, as stated before, Solas evidently needs some astronomical event to weaken the entire Veil. Recall that Corypheus merely wants to tear the Veil to enter the Black City and rule from there as Gods ? Corypheus' goal was to not destroy the Veil, his was to enter and rule from the Black City as well as be Tevinter's god and leader. Solas wishes to outright destroy the Veil which is present throughout Thedas, underground or above the ground or in the skies. To even accomplish such a thing would have required immense power and some form of astronomical event. From the Elven drawings, we can infer this. Which means to destroy it, one probably needs immense power and a long eclipse.
