I found Solas in Skyrim.

In his dialogue he seems to put Inquisitor and all the races of Thedas into one cauldron of non-people which he's planning to "blow up" at some point to give space for his People - the elves. And yet in the epilogue many of the current elves are vanishing and joining Solas. Isn't that a contradiction? Or will he kill the current elves as well? Regardless, he could have offered elf Inquisitor to join him as well, no?

I think writers were simply lazy on this one.

That's what I'm wondering when he uses the 'your people won't survive but mine will' paraphrase. Maybe it's that he associates all of the current races one in the same "people". Because surely if the Dalish (especially Dalish mages) still have the same blood as the Elvhen, they would survive the veil being removed.

 

That would make sense as to the writer's comment that Solas will only get involved with an elven female because it makes "super story sense".

 

Also I think the epilogue elves that are vanishing were ancient elves. Perhaps the one pictured with Mythal's vallaslin was from the temple of Mythal.

He does mention (with something of a regret) that he's been more or less using people to further his goals - no reason not to think that he wouldn't be using mortal elves as well.

 

Plus, we don't really know how much most elves who heard about ancient elvhen rebel really know - it might be that they simply think that he's the solution to all their problems, including problems with humans.

 

In any case, it's really hard to say how they'd use them or how are his plans. But apparently he puts everyone - including Inquisitor - into 'your people' cauldron. I assume that's because there's probably some sort of inherent 'flaw' or thing that makes mortals different from pre-Veil elvhen, in a way that will make it hard to survive, for most, if not all people of Thedas.

Such arrogance, I suppose many "non-people" players will want to kill him just for that in the next game just to show who's superior

shiiiiiittt that is DEFINITELY a reference to Felassan's death.

Felassan means slow arrow, and he always believed in and hoped for Briala and her plans, caring for the elves that existed now.
it does make me wonder how much Solas is telling his agents. Felassan tells romanticised stories about Fen'Harel - is this just a way to hold up the 'dalish' persona, or does he believe that Solas is genuinely doing the right thing? Is his conflict knowing or not?

It's really the last part that intrigues me. I wonder how pointless, or how necessary, the pain Solas is going through is.

Actually I've watched the epilogue again and not only Orlais servants were leaving, but servants across all Thedas. Would be kinda funny if Solas, seeing as they are "non-people" as well, actually plans to kill them all along with other races, they're gonna be screwed all over again.

I think I prefer Flemeth as the manipulative behind-the-scenes character to that lying arrogant baldhead. She was cryptic, but never lying. I really hope to see her again in the future, at least in some form.

It's unclear - they could be sleeper agents, but I assume there aren't that many of them since otherwise they'd have been discovered by this point. I think there's a decent change ordinary elves will get caught up in this, possibly buy into what Fen'Harel's story, and Solas will use them in turn.

the solution to that seemed pretty simple. Don't recruit elves. If the Inquisition is downsizing anyway to a peacekeeping organisation and spy network, its agents will probably be more select, so they could probably get away with it. The only downside is that elven servants make excellent spies, and you'd lose out on being able to put people in those positions.

As if Solas would ever trust a human to do anything competently anyway (okay, that's disingenuous).

But after playing through both ending, I've decided to keep the Inquisition. If his agents are anything like Felassan, they could turn, or provide leads of their own, if found.

Although I don't know if other races existed before the Veil was formed, the queasy/weirdness that non-elves experience in the Crossroads might mean that uniting the two worlds again might have an effect 1000x worse... and that's how people would die. Elves, on the other hand, might make it through. Half elves too, maybe?

Also I just finished the game. It took me a long time because I kept crashing during fight scenes (I think my computer is dying)... my emotions right now:

If we have a different protagonist, I hope it is the 'someone he doesn't know' and all of it is related to the Inquisitor. But. Well. I kind of hope we get the same protag in next game... even though that's probably not going to happen and I am being super selfish.

Oh dear god have mercy. This was pretty much everything I could have wished for, but at the same time, I feel as if someone ripped my soul out and beat be to death with it. The way they handled the companions was perfect in my opinion, and I miss them so effing much already. Everything Solas-related feels to extreme right now to talk about it yet. I think I have to let it sink in for a while. Everything is spinning... emotionally speaking.

ok i checked - Solas must die thread i wanted to say few things there, but i decided not to or i was going to became as hated as Solas there...

its like general hate over elves there, and ppl think its crazy for lavellan to tell solas she want to go with him. Well i WANT to go with him, i want to remove the veil and im sure that we can find a better way doing it that to destroy the world. I love elves , i always pick the elves in all games, and i love dragon age elves more than anything, so is it so bad that i want to restore what was lost? Didnt the elves suffer enough already? So yes i want to go with Solas both to help him and to save him from himself. Because i believe there is a better path, the one that will not destroy the world, and because i believe that if given the chance to go with him lavellan can change his mind if she see that there isnt another way but destroying the world and and thats too big praise to pay.
