ok i checked - Solas must die thread i wanted to say few things there, but i decided not to or i was going to became as hated as Solas there...

its like general hate over elves there, and ppl think its crazy for lavellan to tell solas she want to go with him. Well i WANT to go with him, i want to remove the veil and im sure that we can find a better way doing it that to destroy the world. I love elves , i always pick the elves in all games, and i love dragon age elves more than anything, so is it so bad that i want to restore what was lost? Didnt the elves suffer enough already? So yes i want to go with Solas both to help him and to save him from himself. Because i believe there is a better path, the one that will not destroy the world, and because i believe that if given the chance to go with him lavellan can change his mind if she see that there isnt another way but destroying the world and and thats too big praise to pay.

I think the description for that dialogue option is a bit misleading. The dialogue option itself sounded like Lavellan really, desperately wants to help Solas, because she can't stand thinking that he's doing it all to himself (while it's pretty obvious from conversation and sad expression that he's not enjoying this) and he'd end up destroying himself in some way (his response to this option pretty much states this verbatim) - but she never specified what that 'help' means.

Oh my god! I was spoiled, as I was following this morning while I was at work and Sunny was sending us back tidbits from it. But it's so much better experiencing it the first time. I'm going to take my Lavellan back through again, maybe try to figure out some of the puzzles that I didn't get, but my first impression is basically just awesome excitement for the future. I am super hype and this DLC alone is the best they have ever done. (I didn't play ME). It was story heavy, amazing combat, puzzles, amazing beautiful places (I especially loved the last place we go, so beautiful, I wanted to explore it), and the nighttime fortress area. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. I asked for meaningful story and a good time and I got both in SPADES. The characters were perfect, were totally amazing and...Solas...

 

On Solas

God. I can't even start with this guy. I don't know what I was expecting but I was expecting it would be amazing and bittersweet and heartbreaking and it was everything I could have asked for and more. He didn't screw me over, and neither did Bioware. Well, I guess he technically did Lavellan a little but I don't care because of the story! This is what had to happen for the story and I can't wait to see where the team takes it. He was very different though, wasn't he. Such a sad, misguided person. I don't think his story could ever end on a happy ending, but I don't think my Lavellan is going to give up on him, not ever. She doesn't want to go with him, she loves her friends and the world she tried to save (a few times), but she wants to prevent him from hurting anyone, and from hurting himself. He doesn't understand and she's going to do her damnedest to try to make him see.

 

Oh man, but why seal the breach to begin with? Wouldn't that have torn the veil anyway and accomplished his goals just the same? I don't know. In any case I loved it, I love him, he's still my favorite character, and he's just so...he's got so many problems and so many emotions and he's so well written. I have a lot of feelings about this. I'm not being very eloquent because I'm more or less hungover, tired, and stuck at work for nine hours before I can go play again. I don't feel betrayed by him, my Lavellan just has sheer determination now. I don't hate him- how could I hate such a person? Lavellan loved him- loves him, and will save him, and the world if it's the last thing she does. It might be, but she'll die trying. I don't know that he'll get a happy ending- how could he, after what he's done, but he may get a chance to redeem himself and get a bittersweet ending, and that's good enough for me.

What I mean is, after an infiltration like that - where not one, but two factions were involved in instigating a mass assassination plot - I'd almost consider just purging most of my spies and starting anew. And I definitely wouldn't recruit more elves.

Unlikely to happen though. You're right about the risk of corruption, though.

He's similar to as he was before - mostly invisible. He brings Maryden and Krem together instead. He's still very sympathetic to Solas in the DLC (I didn't bring him along for anything, which is a shame). Finally, in the epilogue, he returns to the fade, because a lot of pain is coming, and that's where he feels he's needed most.

I really do want to applaud the Bioware team for this DLC. The music and the moments were fantastic. Of the little things, one of my favourite surprises that I came across in the DLC was:

The 'self portrait' of Fen'Harel. I just really liked the idea of Solas painting, like... for things not in Skyhold. It was nice to see.

Also in my eyes, the comment about 'laying with' Solas affirmed sexy times. But maybe that's just me. Different interpretations and whatnot. Regardless, I think both sides of the fandom squee'd a little. Also the romance ending with the dreams and the wolf and the ... the... excuse me I'm gonna cry again.

Waaah I want more. More! Hashtag Lavellan problems.

oh god damn it i guess this mean the 4rth game will be about Solas removing the veil, but will the game be set before or after. If its after it will break my hard a bit more ( if thats even possible) cuz ill know my lavellan failed to save him from himself. If its set during and you can stop him without killing him, they all cry again but this time happy tears because in my head after this events my lavellan will have her heart back and they can be happy together . Solas needs his comeuppance.  I am going to drag him back to my home in Kirkwall (totally where I hang out with BFF Sera and her girlfriend Dagna) and comeuppance the hell out of him.  I'll comeuppance him, he'll comeuppance me.  There will probably be a group comeuppance from the entire Inner Circle.  Basically we'll all comeuppance it out and talk like GODDAMN ADULTS.  I fully support Dragon Age 4: Get Solas Some Goddamn Friends.

 

I feel I still have sympathy for him.  Someone said earlier it was like Solas invented nuclear power because, hey, this makes life easier.  And then he went to sleep and woke up to find the entire world a post-apocalyptic wasteland.  But it's been like this for as long as everyone else can remember.  And they're fine with it.  Sure, there's ghouls and raiders and giant robo radscorpions and deathclaws (I am super hyped for Fallout 4, okay?) but that's just part of life.  But Solas looks around and he knows what the world could be, and had been and he thinks if he just does this one thing then it can go back to how it was.  But it's not his world anymore and he's so homesick, but the homesickness is for a time, not a place.  So he wants to tear down the veil - the very thing he created to protect everyone - so things can go back to the way they were.  But if he does this then everyone will die, so he pushes them out his mind.  Tries to see them as not real, like the shadows in the bad future.  But that's hard because he can't stop himself from caring, and wanting everyone to have freedom and show compassion.

 

On Solas' rebellion - I think it was something he and Mythal were working on together.  Drinking from the Well gives you one half of the passphrase needed to appease the guardians, and Fen'Harel statues appear in Mythal's temple.  The Inquisitor can even question WHY Mythal's knowledge would include this.  I think her wanting reform was what prompted her betrayal and murder, and moved Solas from a slave rebellion to creating the veil.

 

On DA4 - I don't think Inky will be the lead.  I think they'll be an important NPC and we may even have some limited control over them (although the Keep may update to track more stuff from DAI to give a better feel for our unique characters.)  I think the ending choice of the DLC (which will be available to everyone thanks to the Keep) will have a huge impact on how DA4 plays out.

 

EDIT: For those who weren't around/don't remember the comeuppance thing from a few days ago comeuppance=hug.  I'm pointing this out because I've realised how filthy this sounds if you're not aware of that.

- Krem and the bard is love.

- Sera & Dagna is the best.

- Cullen and the mabari is cute as hell.

- Spa scene with Vivienne was very funny!

- Gaspard mentionned as being on the throne while I hate him, killed him and put Celene+Briala on the throne = Bioware WTF?

- Dorian aka almost BFF leaving was a hard one.

- Cole aka ultimate BFF leaving, was the hardest. He's the only one who loves Solas with my Lavellan.

- Cole giving huge approval for wanting to save Solas. Cole knows what's up, he knows so much more than everybody else.

- That DLC was pretty as hell. The fights, the murals, the sceneries. I was beyond pleased about it, and in awe.

- Solas is the most problematic fave of all my problematic faves. Still love him to bits.

- I wasn't much surprised by his plans, because it was something I had foreseen since the end of DA:I. Still hurt like a MOFO.

- My Lavellan doesn't want the world she knows to end, but she still wants to save Solas.

- I hope next PC is Inquisitor again. Playing a disabled character would be awesome. Plus the Lavellan story doesn't feel complete, and she's the most vital piece in looking for the sorry ass of an elf that Solas is.

- She also has the strongest power to fck his plans up: his love for her.

- Ending cards about Solas watching over her in her dreams were the most fanfiction thing ever. Still made me feel all mushy inside.

- All my companions had relatively happy endings. That made me feel all happy despite SOLAS.

- I'm tempted to play a Lavellan that will just want to watch the world burn, and help Solas in his plans. Sadly, pretty sure the game won't allow us too.

 

- Basically, my Lavellan is going to be the Sailor Fcking Moon of Thedas. She has a purpose, and she won't give up on it. I'm ready for the next installment, and can't wait for it.

The thing about Solas is

David Gaider talked about the entire story setup at some point. I think it was on his tumblr, which sadly doesn't exist anymore. But I remember something like, they came up with the complete story before they started Origins (makes sense, of course)

Which means the entire thing with him trying to undo what he's done was planned from the start. So it's likely they've always planned to put Fen'Harel in your party at some point, possibly to make him more sympathetic. There's always been a lot of emphasis on the Dread Wolf, I think everyone was expecting him to show up at some point.

Probably also the reason why Lavellan can't come with him no matter what from a story telling perspective. They can make small changes to the story, Lavellan being able to romance him for example, but those changes can't completely turn around the original concept.

Another reason to put him into the party was to shape his character I guess. If Inquisition never happened he would have done his thing without hesitation, but now there's a reason for him to think things over. Whether it's a friend or a lover, as he said, everything has changed. (or if he hates the Inquisitor he just doesn't care, curious about that)

Since my Lavellan and Viv did not get along in the game (but she did her quest, so I got Viv back) I headcanon that their friendship takes a lot of work and something of a surprise to both of them.  But they secretly enjoy all the mage freedom debates.

 

When the game actually canon'd Sera/Dagna I was SO HAPPY.  A little sad that it means she's not going to be a future LI (because I can't see how BW will handle an LI who may be in a relationship depending on worldstate) but so happy that it's canon.  I've been shipping those two since last November.

 

The Gaspard thing is a common bug.  I found references to it while I was trying to stop the game crashing when talking the Viv.

 

While I'd love to play as a disabled character (makes me want to roll a stabby rouge so I can pull a Ranfan from Fullmetal Alchemist and have blade on my prosthetic arm) I don't see Inky being the protag of DA4.  Mostly because we're moving to Tevinter and I'd love the chance to play a native of the Empire.  I still think Inky is going to be a huge part of the series, though.

 

Sorry to get all tumblrina on you, but could you possibly please not use the R-word?  Sorry to be a pain.
