I liked the ending slide for Lavellan/Solas.

Its been overdone in fanfiction, sure, but usually its written for more of a romantic spin.

 

But with the ending of trespasser, there's another angle to all of this. The Inquisitor is actively working against Solas. Of course she sees him in her dreams. It's the one place he can't escape from her. And it also further suggests that Solas isn't committed to his plan as he claims. When he walked off he wanted that to seem like the end.

 

And yet, they keep meeting. Solas, probably because he can't escape the guilt of what he's planning to do and Lavellan because she's actively hunting him down.

Oh hell... I hadn't thought of this. It makes awful sense. What if all those elves going to him, unwittingly become the sacrifice needed? Solas would truly become a monster, even before bringing down the veil. That makes some horrible sense with him saying he doesn't want to to see what he will become -- a monster just as bad, or worse even, than the enavuris ever were. With the veil in place, Solas is also cut from his entire powers so it might well be the only way to bring about his plan. My heart has literally jumped into my throat before dropping to my feet reading this. Don't destroy everything that is good in yourself. Solas!

Now I can't stop thinking about it. My belief is that the anchor is no more. Justinia from the fade and Corypheus both said there was no way to get it out and still use it, so the best Solas could do was prevent the Inquisitor from dying while it finished burning itself out. Now, we know of one other group to enter the fade physically : The Magisters (and it's strongly hinted in DA2 that they did sacrifice on a massive scale in Kirwall to do so). Solas' best hope at this point is to replicate the magister's ritual. I hope... hope so much that I'm wrong, but I frankly think AutumnOracle hit the nail on the head there. If we're NOT wrong, I hope he can be stopped before he puts his plan into action. Our best hope is that it could take him a few years to prepare. Might be why we go to Tevinter next too. Who best to have infomration on what the magisters did than the Tevinter?

So, more thoughts on the future:

I recall it being mentioned somewhere, ages ago, that Dragon Age will be a 5 game series. I conveniently don't remember where of course, but I seem to recall it being at least a somewhat official source. If that's true and whatever Solas is doing brings about the end of the era, then our final confrontation with him won't take place in the next game.

I think they denied the five thing later on as just a random number given? But we'll see.

 

Though let's say for a second that the five number is accurate. I doubt Solas is the final antagonist tbh. I'm of the belief he's being used by Flemeth/Mythal and doesn't realize it. More likely than not, I believe Flemeth/Mythal will be the "final" antagonist. If there is going to be such a thing.

I am willing to bet good money on the fact that if someone at Bioware published a well written novel detailing the time of ancient Elvhenan, what was it like, what happened, what were the stakes and why Solas had to create the Veil and there was little alternative...
