Does anyone remember that little cave/house in the Emerald Graves with, presumably, a spirit that wants you to get 10 crystal graces?  I know if you run around in front of it after waking the spirit up (aka jumping on the house like 50 times) he'll say different things.  I can't remember exactly what he says though I think at least one of the things he says is pretty relevant.

 

I googled but I can't find any listing of what all the spirit says.  Maybe my googling skills are weak.

 

Edit:  Ah, here's what the spirit says that I was thinking of.  "He'll remake the world to suit his desires.  His chosen to reign."

 

Edit again:  Also:  Pulling back the curtain.  Let the light in.  Let it burn.

 

Oddly enough ... when I chose a different phrase to google, this very thread popped up.  lol

so he knew from the start the mark was killing the inquisitor, since (as he said) he was the only one who could wield it. just imagine, being in love with lavellan, and knowing your mark could be her death, and the only way to save her would be to chop off her hand/arm. 

 

he leaves her knowing it would get worse, and that his mistake of giving cory the orb is the cause for all her pain and suffering

personally, I think he's not sure who specifically will die, just that many will, and that quite possibly Lavellan could be included

 

I think he's hoping she won't die, but he knows she will try to stop him. 

 

When she gets in his way (in a future game) I don't believe he would kill her outright, but rather he'd try other means to stop her.

 

When he says he saved her for now, I believe he means she will be in danger from the chaos that will be caused, not necessarily directly from him or his plans

It would be hilarious if they continue that as some sort of running joke. Rival Inquisitor and Solas saying as few words as possible to one another. Condensing entire monologues into the barest of wikipedia notes.

Well, that's just it. There aren't written records. The elves records were lost in the Library when the Veil destroyed everything. Their physical records were likely destroyed by Tevinter. Humans were still tribal and likely hadn't created writing. The Memories explicitly don't go back that far, likely as much a case of editing as their culture not recording things like that when they were bonded with the Titans. The idea of the Quickening is something that may have been present before the elven enslavement by the Imperium, but either way, that view is thousands of years removed from what happened.
We have a good idea of what was going on in the Mediterranean in Roman or Greek times, for example, because we can read Roman and Greek records and compare them with archaeological digs. But Arlathan was half in the Fade, and half in the physical world, and people don't speak ancient elven, and there won't other groups making records. So it's a big mystery to people in Thedas.

From what I understand, it wasn't just Arlathan that was 'half in the Fade and half in the physical world'. Before the Veil everything in the world would have been half-fade, half-physical, not just the elves. It seems like magic could seep into all aspects of nature--plants, animals, stones, anything. It's not an event that I can imagine affected only the elves, and yet somehow no one's known legends account for it's happening?

Possible future game scenario

Morrigan obtains Flemythals essence and goes searching for the other pieces of her. She then takes back the piece that Solas recieved (rendering him weak like he was before), enters the Fade with an army of dragons and kills the Enuvaris. Thedas remains in tact and Cole makes Solas "Forget". Lavellan gets back together with Solas while Morrythal rules the whole of Thedas.

In the cutscene, you still have your hand, it's just kind of burning up in magical flashes. While we don't know exactly what he did, in non-romance playthroughs, it's clear he kind of pulls your arm out and there's a slight magical snap or something, but he doesn't leave with it.

It's really hard to say. Though wouldn't him wielding the Mark would mean that he may have obtained the means to obtain his goals? I think the Anchor's either done for... OR, it's simply in some sort of dormant state. It's a speculation, true (though Solas' "the Mark will eventually kill you" is kinda suspicious), but I'd like to point out that Patrick Weekes didn't really give a definite answer on question what happened to the Anchor on his twitter.

Well no - the arm is NOT the Anchor  If it really was that simple, I'm pretty sure Cory would try that.

 

Plus, there's Justinia in the Fade, claiming that the Anchor cannot be removed without Inquisitor's death. Question is whether the owner, strengthed by power of Mythal, is an exception.
