I think that thing with the eyes is actually Elgar'nan.  Here's the description of him from the codex entry via the Well of Sorrows:

 

"For one moment there is an image of a shifting, shadowy mass with blazing eyes, whose form may be one or many. Then it fades."

 

If that's Elgar'nan, then the other seven around him are Andruil, June, Sylaise, Dirthamen, Mythal, Falon'Din, and Ghilan'nain.  The two on either side of the central fresco are maybe...two different forms of Fen'Harel?  On the right, he seems to be raising his orb to seal them away.

... Anyone else thinks that the reason he didn't let her join him may not just be sparing her the burden of everything he has to do and seeing him degenerate into something he hates, but because he marked (pun definitely intended) Inquisitor as his nemesis, reluctant as they may be in this role?

that is the basic reason for any inquisitor, I just feel like for a romanced quissy his reasons might be more nuanced.

btw guys: i'm worried about something. yesterday Lady Insanity replied to a comment on her Solas romance scene video that the solasmance hadn't ended, and then she referenced Weekes. I looked for the comment to screenshot and show you guys but now it's gone.

It does, actually.  In the Chantry's legends.  The ones about the Maker and the creation of the world.  I know, I know, here I am dragging the icky Chantry into our happy fun elfy times.  But it does, bizarrely, line up.

 

First the Maker created the spirits and the Fade--and that's all the world was.  There was no Veil.  Everything was magical, and the first elves were the spirits who came to embody themselves.  The Golden City?  Probably Arlathan.

 

And then, the Maker sundered the world by separating the mortal realm from the spirits via the Veil.  "By My Will alone is Balance sundered / And the world given new life."  The firstborn of the Maker began to corrupt mortals by declaring themselves gods.  Sound like the Evanuris to anyone else?  The order is wrong; according to Solas, the Evanuris first became "gods", THEN Solas sealed them behind the Veil.  But the general cadence of things sounds awfully familiar.  Solas even calls the Evanuris "the first of my people."

 

There's one more piece; the elves recognize a sun god and an earth goddess prior to the Evanuris, and call Elgar'nan the Eldest of the Sun...who usurped his father and cast him down.  The Chantry teaches that the Maker's firstborn turned mortals from worshipping the Maker to worship them instead.  After the Maker cast them down, they began to whisper to mortal men--the Tevinter magisters.  So Maker = Sun.  And we have that theory rolling around about the Old Gods being the imprisoned forms of the Evanuris.

 

Maybe it's just the feels addling my brains, but there are parallels between the two legends.

You're right about that. The Chant does seem to give a relatively accurate description of the creation of the Veil, from what we know.  I don't know that it implies *when* this supposedly occurs, though. There were survivors who *did* experience the event and it surprises me that we don't have legends from non-elven cultures about stories that occurred before the Veil. And it surprises me that the history of such a major, world-changing event could be lost so quickly. I mean, from old records, we have a relative idea for when the elves start noticing the quickening, when humans first arrive in Thedas, when elves first contacted the dwarves, but not that the world of the Fade suddenly split from the real world? The two worlds were supposedly so drastically different from each other, how could all record of that possibly be lost, when we are able to find stories of those other things? Maybe humans actually did not exist before the Veil? Maybe they and some other races were actually created along with the real world?

I suppose. Though the Memories are just one place, and I was thinking that the raising of the veil probably was experienced by countless tribes of other races all over the world. But maybe I'm totally wrong about that.

He also had people like Felassan to inform him- Felassan wasn't exactly thrilled with the Dalish's progress either. 

 

Edit: There's also stories of Fen'Harel coming into Dalish dreams and being chased off by dream-hounds. So maybe that too!

I'm not completely sure I remember. Even glanced over the wiki, did not see anything. Hopefully someone more informed can help you out in placing it exactly!

 

But Briala knew Felassan long enough to consider him a mentor, and meet with him monthly. That seems to suggest that at least Felassan has been roaming around longer than Solas has.
