Okay, let's just get this out of the way on here, and to anyone that has said similar things on other threads that happens to read this:

Let me take some time to get OT and defend the Varric fans here even though I know most of you don't have bad intentions with these posts. I think you guys have completely exaggerated the reactions and responses they had. I have been in there before the reveal to say I didn't have high hopes and they agreed with me. I've never seen them shout at anyone or get angry. Trust me, they did hear it a lot from different people and perhaps one or two may have had a bitter response but come on!

 

The guys who frequent the Varric thread are lovely people. I'm going to pout at y'all for not only being a bit insensitive in a place where they can read it (I wasn't aware fans only stuck to their own threads, comeon!) but also making assumptions based on one or two posts here and there that could be seen as a little over the top or aggressive.

 

Sure, they were told not to be hopeful but fans are like that. We are all a bit dramatic at times when it comes to things we love. Give them some slack, please. It's also something that might alienate them and create clicks. Trust me, we have enough of that crap in here as it is. I'm the type to run around every fan thread but a lot of people get scared away easily.

 

Let me be blunt by saying that this isn't a personal friend chat room and everyone can see what you write. I know some of y'all care if someone's feelings get hurt and they will have been. I feel like I need to remind most fan threads of that. I love you guys, but just please. It is stuff like this that has made the BSN less fun than it used to be.

 

Edit: Need to reiterate that I do love all of you, please don't take this as me being hostile. I need to say my piece, however.

 

I... don't know how I feel right now. How I should feel. You were blunt, I'll be blunt.  I don't like emotional posts that try to to turn me into some bad guys for a few things that I hardly did, while my neutral and casual post was just an opinion about how people should have expected something happening. Yeah, I know your post isn't hostile, you told it. But you quite turned the thing into a drama thing, which I really dislike. 

 

Apparently I'm attacking them inconscously If I read your post, when the only thing I have said is people shouldn't have ever expected Varric as an LI in my opinion, yes an opinon I have given as you guys did just before me. Unless this is a really private topic or some opinions can't be allowed, or everyone should agree about something. No I don't think saying this hurts and I don't think it has anything to do with what I think about them. Yes, they are LOVELY people, I read silently their thread everyday, I laugh at some comments sometimes, I have also liked some posts while they weren't aware I was watching. I even LIKE some of them, and they aren't aware of that.That doesn't prevent me to have my opinion about things. An opinion hardly hostile toward anyone, even " if people can read it " and which could have been easily ignored. 

 

Yes, I might be really aware of their reaction, I've read 30 pages of their thread, yesterday, And they were bummed, really sad, which is exactly what I said. Nowhere it was said, rude, agressive or exaggerated, or I don't know what. Please don't put words into my mouth. ( you quoted my post, i'm going to think that yes, you did it ) I was surprised because they really really hoped Varric that much. It was more than a simple disappointment and you know it, while yes they were totally calm, no one is telling the contrary. That's all what I talked about.

 

And while we are defending people, I 'm going to defend Tamyn. Her post shouldn't even have been quoted. The only thing she said is that she kept her mouth shut, convinced that Varric was almost a lost cause. She said nothing specific about Varric fans, giving a basic opinion. She didn't deserve this post.

 

Yes, Varric fans again, they are lovely people, no need to point out that, it was almost insulting. Nobody said or implied the opposite, we really didn't need to go there in those extremeties in my opinion.

 

I'm not taking this as hostile, but I can tell you that I was really confused when I came back on this thread, I also needed to tell my piece, we have that in common. Now, Peace, I think.

In short, are all of his armors going to hide certain... cheekier areas of his body? Certain... firm assets, if you will. The outfit shown in early screenshots was certainly something I could get behind.

Yeah, I don't think Solas would be gated based on what we know. My dwarf that's going to be my first playthrough would ADORE Solas (so smart and that's her thing). So, if he's an option I might go for his romance first!

What races were others hoping to romance him as?

If I didn't go dwarf first, I might do Human Mage or Elf Rogue/Mage to romance him. I love the human backstory second best and I'm also trying to make myself play mages more because I don't enjoy them unless I'm a Blood Mage (and even then, It's still my least favorite class).

I would hope he isn't race gated, but if I had to pull theories out of completely thin air I'd say he's race-gated against dwarves and qunari due to the whole dreaming/fade-connection thing. 
 

But if he was completely not gated I would hope to romance him with a female qunari. A tall buff qunari lady and a lanky elf mage would be SO CUUUUTTEEE in my mind. (I just adore odd couples!) And then my runner-up choice would be a dwarven female. Then I'd be human or elf, I'm not sure what I'd pick of the last two, I guess it depends on how they look in the character creator.

It should be clearer once DA:I actually comes out and we can really get our hands on it.  I mean, hopefully we can get a nice firm grasp of the situation once we feel things out a bit.
