I just can't get behind Cullen's romance.  It's so boring next to Solas' :/  I guess I love angst/guy-playing-hard-to-get over fluff.

 

I'm glad Cullen's romance exists, many people gets to enjoy the fluff and that's cool.

It just doesn't do anything for me, and that's just how it is. I tried, but sadly nay, not working.

I think all it did was set the tone for how you dealt with him. You either have an obvious and strong force, weakened by corruption and possible betrayals with a very obvious public face. Or  you have a spy army essentially, weak if you were going to out and out fight him.  My thinking would be - if you wanted to stop him and not kill him - it would be disband the inquisition and hit him with spies and trading favors. 

 

Though I think they may consider a multi-protagonists

I want my Inquisitor to forever be making one-armed jokes.

 

It's interesting to see how little Solas actually knows on Dwarves though. He seems annoyed that they aren't reclaiming there old empire, but didn't Mythal technically have a hand in destroying that? It said she took down the Titans (just how crazy strong are these Pantheon members!?) and their children, the dwarves, are now a 'severed hand' of the Titans (I assume that's what Solas means) then reclaiming what they lost means bringing back what Solas's dear Mythal destroyed. If he wants to bring back his land, why would he want the Dwarves to have theirs back as well? Or am I on totally the wrong page here?

 

What I was wondering is how the Veil effects the dwarves underground. They have no connection to the Fade so it wouldn't effect them on a mental level. But would it destroy the world under Thedas? Would bringing down the sky bother the places it doesn't reach?

When you meet Valta, she makes it clear that she can't so much as peep at the hole you come down from as it could be a problem for her and her stone sense. Maybe it isn't just crazy dwarven logic. Maybe there really is a point to it. 

Anyone really up on their Dwarven lore?

I really need to get WOT2   I need more reading. I think I better re-read the first one. And maybe TME. All this hindsight bringing me more questions.

If in the next game, we have a new protagonist and the Inquisitor appears and helps in some sort of fight against Solas but there's only two outcomes (1) Solas kills an Inquisitor if they chose the option to stop him, and (2) the Inquisitor dies trying to help Solas if they chose to option to save him.  No matter what, Solas goes cray cray.

It's possible, but I predict riots if this happens, and the devs will probably see that too, so I don't think they'll do it this way.

I have no doubts Bioware will come up with something intersting, but I still wonder who will be strong enough to confront Solas. I mean, whether you kept the Inquisition, or disbanded it, you don't have the power of the anchor anymore, and Solas is godlike in how he can cast his spells nowadays. Keeping the Inquisition in the hope you'll be stronger against him is, to me, kind of delusional, considering what we know of the situation so far.

Apparently bioware has "considered" the possibility of using two protagonists at some point. Perhaps DA4 will be the time to try it out. 

 

Their (Laidlaw) comment on it: As to multiple protagonists? Absolutely fascinating and, yes, we have discussed it some. There are a lot of challenges in terms of helping the player identify with more than one created character, but it's a long way from impossible. I thought, for example, that the weaving stories of the GTA V protagonists created a really interesting flow in the story and the gameplay. I agree that betraying yourself would be super cool, so long as "the player" version of you didn't end up feeling like a chump.

In the long run, it might be best to dismantle the Inquisition, or at least pare it down as in the other choice. Solas claims he has spies in your forces, so many that the Qunari spies stumbled onto them first. When dealing with him, the more chance one has to surprise him might be best...so one wouldn't want to have to worry about this big organization with huge potential for leaks.

The main issue with continuing the Inquisitor is going to be romances. Most people really look forward to those...but they've already said we're doing a new cast. Most of the romances in Trespasser end up in marraige or at least some sort of ongoing commitment. Unless they give the divorce option, it seems tricky to fit them in in a believable way. 

 

But on the other hand, the Inquisitor's role is a lot different from Hawke's. Hawke had a set personality 'flavor' that made them easier to translate into an NPC. Inquisitor lacked that, and there's a lot of variables in how they might approach the next chapter. Unless they break up the Inquisitor into only three types: Lavellan, 'Save' Solas Inquisitor, and 'Kill' Solas Inquisitor. 

 

In my mind, I'd have the Inquisitor hunting down the Solas plot business, spending more time exploring and 'talking' their way through Tevinter. Then have the second protagonist some sort of operative for the Inquisitor, working with or recruited by Scout Harding. They would assist with the fight against Solas, but also likely have their own side-storyline and villain.

 

We are going to Tevinter, I don't think there's going to be a shortage of evil people.

I'm a fan of spirit Cole myself, but I guess human Cole could show Solas that he changed, he adapted to the new world and is happy. So.. maybe he'd inspire him to do the same.

I don't think there's going to be anything like tied so intimately to Cole's human/spirit choice. It's...really complicated and sticky.  And It hink it's one of those "gut" decisions that players just go by because there is no real right/wrong.  And I think Weekes enjoys that. There are pros and cons - as you pointed out to both. I am interested in seeing spirit cole though.

I made him human in my "canon" playthrough but I'm fairly certain I'm going to redo the whole damn thing. I didn't get some things I wanted out of Sera and I want Solas to have a friend with him.

On one hand, you have Earth, Titans and dwarves, with the dwarves connected to their titans having a special type of magic. On the other you have air, Fade, spirits and elves (with the distinction between ancient elves and spirits being perhaps more porous than not). In between you have Thedas itself, which became a battleground between the two opposites. I somewhat remember a codex entry somewhat hinting to that, but I can't for the life of me remember it in detail or find it again.

Though I do agree, a big selling point for these games are the romance options.  So I like your idea of the Inquisitor doing Winter Palace style quests in Tevinter and spy quests while the other person is out in the field.  And boning some new hot piece of booty.  *prayer circle for Abelas*

Yeah! It is definitely possible that those final four choices will dictate the Inquisitor's personality. I just worry that it might be less effective than Hawke's translation. I'll certainly take it though, over nothing!

 

It would be pretty cool to have the Inquisitor lurking around the upper class levels of Tevinter with the assistance of Dorian, and then the new player in the underground.

I fear that Abelas, like Krem, wont be a companion in DA4. I think BW are trying to avoid bringing back characters who could be dead.

Which also means we're very unlikely to see Cullen again in a major role.

I've been reading threads on people's disband/keep the Inquisition choices. I'm surprised at the amount of people who say that keeping it and working with the divine was a no brainer, especially against Solas. I feel like I am playing the game wrong.

 

For me, the moment Solas says that he discovered the Qunari plot because their spies in the Inquisition tripped over his spies in the Inquisition, I was like:

 

 

 

Maybe that's because I want to find him and try to stop him without some kind of battle or army. The long chat option seems better done with a small group of trusted companions than a large group with potential spies and corruption.

 

 

Has anyone else now watched that Trespasser scene more time than they care to count? Yeah...

I thought I found a codex in the Deep Roads about the Dwarves vs Ancient Elves during Trespasser but I can't remember what it was called or where abouts in my codex I will find it. I'm sure I didn't dream it... I think it was part of the series of journal notes written by the Elf who is with the Qunari.

I have to say I've been dealing with Trespasser and I'm not done emotionally dealing with it, but I feel like it's going to be really good and refreshing in a few years when we get to start over and meet new characters. I'm sure we'll see (obviously) some familiar faces but I can't wait to fall in love with a whole new cast of characters. My favorites from DAI were completely unexpected from what I thought I'd like (I was prepared to murderknife Cass, I couldn't imagine taking her anywhere, and Cole was just...a murdering lunatic.) and I will always love them and treasure them. But I'm so excited to see what else they come up with!

For me, disbanding was the no-brainer, especially after learning the organization was riddled with spies. Not only would it make it way too easy for Solas to anticipate the Inquisitor's next move (again, spies! But also, Solas was instrumental to even creating the Inquisition and he knows very well its inner workings), but there is no way I'm bringing a huge organization of people into what might well be a hopeless quest. There's no way no how my Inquisitor would do that for what is a very personnal quest to her. And that even though she's had no qualm about using people before *shrugs*.

 

so, she's traveling light from now on. Easier on both a tactical and emotionnal level.
