I think it's part of writing a good story, frankly. The moral ambiguity. Just how Solas isn't completely black, the Inquisitor can never be completely free of blame. Heck, I roleplay mine as the most optimistic and I-believe-in-people character I've ever done (even not believing in being the Herald, she embodies it more than she realizes, as far as messiah-like characteristic go), but she's not and will never be blameless. She's gotten a lot of people killed by her actions, both allies and enemies. And she'll get a lot more killed, even after disbanding the Inquisition, in her single-minded quest to save Solas before it's too late. Sacrifice the few to same the multitudes... but also, more morally gray, sacrifice many for her own goals of redeeming the man she loves. The dichotomy is interesting.

I made Cole more spirit and I honestly think that's a harder choice to live with. Chosing to forget the real Cole, and then vanishing into the Fade at the end hit me hard

His choice to forget did give me a really big pang of sadness but the decision makes me happy overall. I'll have to try human Cole, maybe with my Trev mage, and see how he is. But the fact he's so happy, light, and free and with his sense about the Veil and feeling like he belongs....it made me cry and feel good for him.

I don't remember who, but I'm pretty sure it was on this thread, said that making Cole human made them think of optimism for the future, that it was moving forward instead of back toward the status quo. Up until now, I'd always agreed with Solas and kept him a spirit. But, what they said and how it relates to Solas' guilt about his own past convinced me to change in my cannon playthrough. I don't regret my choice, as much as I like Cole-Spirit.

 

Hmmm, you're making a great case here. I think I might change my choice to human Cole.

How many of you did not get the goodbye dialogue when you first enter the Crossroads after realising your hand is killing you (when the Winter Palace turns to night)

I got it fine with Fem!Lavellan, Blackwall, Sera and Varric.

But with my Male!Lavellan I didn't get it at all, so I went to try again because I wanted to hear Dorian's comments (Kudo's to Ramon for that. OH my gawd. The emotion from his line D: HEARTBREAK). I was running with Cole, Cass and Dorian. It didn't trigger. I tried again. Nope. Again. Nope. So I tried switching out Cole for Varric. Nope. Then I tried switching Cass out for Thom.

Boom.

Cole started it, followed by Dorian, then I got to reply and Dorian did his heartbreaking response, followed by Cole being a sweetheart and Thom being battle ready.

 

So I'm wondering if it was Cass that bugs it? Anyone gone through with Cass and managed to trigger the Goodbye banter?

How do you think we can go about combatting the DW? 

 

Disbanded or not, trying to convince or stop, we'll have to take strategic steps to deal with him. We know we should be wary of his spies, recruit ppl he won't know and try to act in a way he won't predict. What then? Considering his agents and power he displays in dlc.

 

I think we'll be needing a double agent for a start, and.. people who can nullify magic [Seekers].

Regarding the Personalities - It does boil down to two main decision though for the Inquisitor.  Did you keep the Inquisition or not? Are going to kill Solas or Redeem him.? This sets the tone.  And tbh - I felt that they forced personality a bit. You have diplomatic Inquisitor or aggro Inquisitor and then they have the romanced which is really only one mode...hung up(I get you can headcanon how you want but the game seems to force that a bit due to the dialogue).

 

Though I do agree, a big selling point for these games are the romance options.  So I like your idea of the Inquisitor doing Winter Palace style quests in Tevinter and spy quests while the other person is out in the field.  And boning some new hot piece of booty.  *prayer circle for Abelas*

I'd say that it is very dangerous to think that doing nothing doesn't hurt. Inaction, is still to me a choice to be made, and usually a bad one favoring status quo, therefore not solving anything.

It was indeed hard to see, because Cole's my Lavellan's BFF, but making him human still doesn't resonate with me either. Hardest choice in the game, maybe? ;D

 

Without a doubt it's the hardest choice.  Both sides are making Cole give up a part of himself to emphasise another part.  There's not option to let Cole stay in the middle because that wouldn't solve his problem.

 

I don't like him using his forget power on himself in the spirit path, but I also don't like him losing his ability to help people easily on the human path.

I took Cass and got the banter fine. In general though, I found Trespasser could be buggy as hell. I never got the Sera cutscene at the beginning, whatever I tried to do.

 

Edit : Also, those screen caps? I laughed out loud in the middle of the office. People are looking at me weird.

I thought we'd get some additional lines in a more friendship-oriented scene but the whole thing went beyond expectations. I was all ...how can you add so MANY more layers of sad to Solas? Sad and horrible but also...hope.

 

And the very heartwrenching elven dialogue, and other lines. I trusted Weekes and team and they delivered.

Dwarves have a good resistance against magic don't they? Could be useful.

I wonder if Valta will ever play a part again. I really hope she does. Anyone close to a Titan is not going to be someone that enjoys the company of Mythal methinks, so potentially and ally against Fen'Harel/Mythal and their plans.

I'll admit I'm somewhat at a loss on how to reach a man that doesn't want to be found and has access to eluvian (and thus places like the crossroad that we can't reach at all). I think maybe her plan might be to start the ball rolling on changes that even he can't ignore. Tevinter gives us an opportunity for a slave revolt of the kind that shakes an Empire. Become the Dread Wolf of the Dragon Age. Draw his gaze away from his plan and to what you're doing, while on the side you have your own people trying to infiltrate his organization to gather information.

 

Solas in his current state power-wise can't be approached directly for a confrontation. So, the Inquisitor needs to find a way he doesn't expect so she can draw him into the open.

 

Lavellan has "changed everything" once for him. She will do it again. And again, however many times it takes to make him see this world has worth saving.
