I just saw the Morrigan statue on the Bioware store and I was wondering...if they ever made a statue of Solas, would you buy one? Even if it sucks your wallet dry? As someone who is geeky enough to own an anime 1/8 scale figure (Alter's renewal version of Natsume Takashi from Natsume Yuujinchou, to be exact - and I have three other figures on pre-order) I would seriously sell my soul to the Dread Wolf to own a statue of Solas. Seriously.

You know... for a character whose very existence proves that the elven gods were mortals, his feats are rather godly.

More impressive than Corypheus, I'd say.

 

Given that the Evunaris have otherworldly powers which can, among other things, completely reshape the world and redefine the nature of existence, as well as being not only immortal but near impossible to kill permanently, one wonders where you draw the line between god and uber powerful mage in Dragon Age.

 

I suppose the Evunaris didn't make the world, or give it initial purpose, or live in another plane of existence, like the Maker does - they were born into it, and are part of it. But even irl there are different religious traditions who have figures who don't fit any of those criteria and are still considered divine.

So, I'm kind of used to Life is Strange statistics at the end of an episode and I find myself wondering how many of you here

1. Disbanded the Inquisition or pledged it to Divine Justinia, and why?

2. Choose the romance option when talking about saving Solas (the one EVERYBODY disapproves of except Cole)?

3. Pledge to stop Solas at all cost (even if it means his death) when romanced?

4. Asked to join Solas? (special dialogue)

I chose the "we will keep the peace" option, under the Divine. I hated all of the choices, and this one seemed the least awful, since my Divine is softened Leliana and I trust her. I'm still not sure about this one though.

 

Totally chose the heart option. No way I wasn't going to. Cole greatly approving is actually key in why I feel hopeful. Cole's dialogue too. Cole knows Solas, he knows his plans, he knows who he is inside, and Cole isn't giving up on him. Neither is my Lavellan.

 

I took the "I support your goal" special dialogue option since it was given before the whole of his plan and what that entails. It made the whole thing sadder, IMO. I think every single one of my choices gave me the max feels results.

Is anyone else getting an Illusive Man vibe from Solas?  Like BioWare wanted a second shot at that story arc: a former ally who turns villain but can be redeemed.

 

I loved the Illusive Man as a character in ME2; he was a supremacist jerk, but Martin Sheen made him charismatic and reasonable enough where I couldn't help but admire him to some extent.  But then when he turned villain in ME3, the character lost all his subtlety and basically became a cardboard villain.  Which drove me bonkers.  I didn't even try to save him; I shot the stupid SOB.

 

Since it looks like they're going the same direction with Solas, I just hope they do a better job of it.  So far so good; I felt like TIM's transition from erstwhile ally to villain was very poorly done, and Trespasser basically did it better with Solas.

Well..that depends on if it actually looks like him. The Alistair statue looks nothing like him and that makes me a sad panda. But, yeah..I would totally buy one.  :-P

Of course! The Alistair one looks weird, but I really like the Morrigan one so far. Not enough to pay 330 $ for her, buuut she's not Solas so that is to be expected.

Unfortunately, the statues seem to always be pretty expensive, but well made. My boyfriend has Sovereign from Mass Effect and that thing is about 18" and it's great. He's into statues and just ordered two Marvel ones this past week.

 

I would've loved the Liara statue, but I just didn't have $300+ to toss at it. For Solas, if I really liked it...it would come down to cost.

give me a Iorveth style city elf/former Tevinter slave dude who's fighting for something better for modern elves in this world - fck the ancient elves, fck the 'gods', fck any non-elves who won't get out of the way of them clawing up out of subjugation, and fck any modern elves who think the answer is whatever Solas has planned. I think a lot of modern elves will go to the DW's side and help him, we need an elf who's an avatar of elves fighting for what they have and could have here in this world - my Dalish quiz would function as this if she appears or is the PC, but in those worldstates where the quiz isn't an elf.. yea. I have a feeling we'll be fighting a lot of elves in our campaign to stop Solas in DA4, particularly a lot of Dalish faithful (BW does so love to make idiots of Dalish lmao), we need a counterpoint to show not all elves are complete morons or lost cause fanatics (delete which is appropriate for you), 'we are people too and this is our crapsack world and we'll fight for it and our place in it'. not a Sera style 'for all little people' and not a Fenris style 'for slave people', a modern elf who is for modern elves.

Has the fact that Sandal was for a time at the Shattered Library mentioned anywhere?
When I first saw his diary I squealed so hard I scared my cats, I had hoped for any mention of this guy because of his prophecy (and the general idea that he freakin' dreamsssss). It's interesting to know he can write... Sort of.
He was there while we were busy with the breach, that's kind of awesome, and answers the question "where is Sandallllllllllllll?"
I just really wonder why, I'm certain he is connected to this in some manner or form.

If his prophecy is true, Solas will succeed with his plans, but it doesn't sound like mass genocide, just sounds like people will change, like that horrid synthesis ending in ME3 that gave me chills just not horrid. If the veil can be dropped without causing people harm, or even a little amount of harm, it would be amazing, it would solve so many of Thedas' issues.
 
I'm just sort of hoping that we will find a way to change Thedas in that manner alongside Solas instead of him going "welp, it's been a nice ride, buh byeeeeeee" and then realizing everyone is still alive. My Quizzys would be fuming.

I also think Solas will succeed. And the more I think about it, the more I'm leaning towards the theory some have mentioned, that he is planning to cast time magic to send himself back and deal with young, reckless Solas before the veil is put up.

This would mean our world would absolutely end for him. We are the fade-poisoned world from the rebel mage quest's future. He can't be certain of what happens to our world, just like we don't know what happened to that one after we went back, but it ceases to exist as far as he is concerned. In order to cast the time magic, however, the veil has to come down. Alexius couldn't do it without the breach.

What I hope is that we get to him after the veil comes down, and before he casts the time spell and can deal with him then. It would allow all possible paths to converge as we either:

Convince him to stay with us, to give us a chance and help the world that he once again changed forever. A romanced Lavellan is sure to have many ideas on how to plead her case. But a deeply respected Inquisitor would have a chance to succeed here also based on what they've done I imagine.

Or...

Murder him. There's more than enough people who want to do that outside this thread. So this would be the time that those guys could have their way too. Even if it's wrong. Hmph.

I was happy to see Sandal's journal too, though. I read it all in his voice. Then went and played the prophecy clip. Can't wait to see that dwarf again!

I was very much against the use of time magic as a plot device as far as Solas' plan goes, but the way you present it is actually really interesting. If we get to confront him once the veil is down but before he can travel back to the past to stop himself and thus erase everyone that's lived in the last few millenia, plead for him to actually help with the consequences of his act this time around (the world would be chaos for a while for everyone while Thedas adjust to the new reality). I could really see that working and I actually would be at peace with such an ending. Thank you!

I'm one of those people that's saving in advance like crazy. I remember how I saved up my pocket money for a year to buy myself a Nintendo DS - it was brand new back then. I got nothing else during that time. I like to believe that I was a really responsible child.

 

But yeah, if he'd look like Nic Cage I'd pass, obviously. But if he looks like the Solas we know...I wouldn't be able to not get him.

I've played Trespasser with 2 Lavellan's, Sharawen (avatar) and Rayne.

1. both disbanded the inquisition, they were part of it because it was needed, but they were not comfortable in that world for different reasons. 

2. both chose the romance option, although Sharawen had been sad about Solas in the companion conversations, but Rayne was a lot less obviously bothered... she cracked in front of her party just that once.

3. Neither picked that option, they refused to give up on him.

4. Sharawen did,  she's totally besotted with him, even now (unhealthy) but she was not aware of the extent of  his plan or she would not have, or if she had it would have been to change his mind.  Rayne did not, she gave him a harder time in the conversations, but still pledged to not give up on him.

There is also that statue of Eleni Zinovia, but it is quite different, there were bound to a statue instead of turned into a statue.

But yeah, I also feel like there is something important about the fact he can turn people to stone.

He has pretty much the power of Medusa without needing to look at the person....

I just love how much of Greek mythology parallels we have in DA, also reminds me somehow (possibly because Medusa => Snakes) of Caduceus, you can see Solas walking with a staff like that when Solas guides the Inquisition to Skyhold, same asTyrdda's ax.

 

Also this part about the staff
