All this talk about Spirit!Leliana reminded me of something Cole said during Trespasser.

 

"They made bodies from the earth, and the earth was afraid. It fought back, but they made it forget."

 

What do you think this means? Did the Evanuris make more slaves from the Titans?

evanuris greedily mined the bodies of titans for lyrium and 'something else' and when mythal won against them she was lauded as a savior for giving the titans' 'demesne' [fancy word for land or estate that a lord is master of, basically] to the People. probably not meaning literal land but the lyrium and 'something else' that they were taking. the 'earth' is the titans. lyrium holds immense power and is in the veins [bodies] of the titans. the titans understandably did not like their bodies being used this way so it fought back. they forgot when they were put to sleep.

 

i think the bodies is akin to Andruil's fabled armor of the void. its made of lyrium and the something else. in mining the evanuris unleashed some bad **** because codex says some elves in desparation say they were blocking and collapsing deep roads tunnels before the evanuris destroyed everything.

 

the evanuris dug too deep and unleashed the blight i think.

Heh. Elves dig too deep, dwarves dug too high and too frugally and met elves...Everything's topsy-turvy! 

So I think this counts as confirmation that the Blight is just Balrog chicken-pox?

So is she actually a spirit or some kind of projection by a Titan? Is there a different image to go along with the text? This is all so...unexpected.

Definitely raises some questions on why Solas or Cole don't comment on it. A spirit sort of possessing her Wynne style to keep her alive makes more sense to me than anything else. So it's still Leliana, it's just she's on mobile ethereal life support.

 

I really wish I could find the actual slides to go with the text.

 If the time magic theory comes true, and Solas succeeds in stopping himself so that the veil never divides the world, how do you think this would impact the franchise?  Would it be the last Dragon Age?

Hmm ... the part in the library where you need veilfire doesn't give a codex, it's just the statue puzzle for the achievement.  I'm thinking maybe the eluvian in the Deep Roads is the same but I haven't gone back yet to check.  After reading what Commander of the Grey wrote, on my first playthrough I know I got the message in the Deep Roads but not the one in near the island retreat which I did get this time.

 

I'm currently being frustrated by an active eluvian in Vir Dirthara.  It's the same area you talk to the Vidasala.  There appears to be no way to it but why would they have it active if you can't use it?

OMG so I'm not the only one that spent over an hour trying EVERYTHING to get to that sorta obscured eluvian in there?!  It drove me MAD, MAAAAAAD I tell you.  I was so sure they wouldn't put it there if you couldn't get to it.  I eventually gave up.  I figure by the time I am ready to run another character through there, if it is possible to get up there someone will have figured it out.

1. Disband with the angry option.  My Lavellan never wanted to be inquisitor or to be part of the Inquisition.  She did so, because it was the right thing to do.  She also fear what would happened to elves should she pack up and leave--especially in the begining.  She's also pretty much a hardcore Nay Theist, and refuses to give the Chantry more power over others. 

 

She was also rather terrified how corrupted the Inquistion became in just 3 years, realized the Chantry had been around FAR FAR longer.  My Lavellan considers the Chantry an organization that has poisioned the minds of its people for its own personal gain, and would never serve it.

 

She also learned well from Solas.  Once your "tools"  outlive their usefulness or start to become troublesome, you eliminate them.  At least publicly.  So, she disbands the organziation.  Moves into her new estate in Kirkwall, and pretends to be a retired adventurer.  There she begins to her epic chess match with Fen'Harel.

 

2. Took it.  I actually laughed out loud at all the Disapprovals, and imagined all my companions face-palming.  She loves Solas.  Loves him utterly and completly.  He's the other half of her soul.  Her friend's know this... I took the disapprovals to be more worry than a desire to murder-knife Solas. 

 

3.  Nope. She's going to save him. 

 

4.  Yep.  She agrees with his plan.  Knows that elves will never regain--well, even basic human rights--without massive bloodshed.  She just wants to help lead him down a gentler path.  Ultimately, my Lavellan cares about elves.. All elves.  She wants them restored, but she also wants Solas to realize that his people...actually his children are the modern elves.

Trespasser made me appreciate the character of Solas/Fen harel even more. As for the plan, i don't think it could be dropping the veil will destroy all life but maybe i'm wrong. Half wonder if he's somehow planning on stopping the veil's creation, thereby ending all current life as a consequence. I'm hoping forlornly that my Lavellan inquisitor is going to be able to work secretly to aid and abet him despite that option being blocked in the dlc.

I'm headed for real headcanon hell.
 
I made a comment yesterday about how after disbanding the Inquisition and making initial plans for the hunt for Solas part 2 that my Lavellan would have gone up to Cillian and asked him for directions to the Arcane Warrior shrine he found in the wilderness to train and figure out how to summon a spirit arm. I then realized that logically speaking no one would have thought it wise for Lavellan to travel way out into the wilderness and spend who knows how long in a forgotten shrine in the middle of no where. Especially this Cillian guy who would have shown her the way. I mean...I can just picture them standing at the door and Lavellan saying "Okay, you can go back now" and Cillian saying "Umm, no thank you. If something happens to you the Divine will put my head on a pike and display it for everyone to see." (My Divine is crazy Leliana who likes my Quizzy). To which it only makes sense that my "I don't want to see people get hurt" quizzy would have replied "Your right, Cillian, you should stay."
 
It then dawned on me that I sent my heartbroken, lonely "f****ck I gotta save the world from my immortal, retardly powerful ex-boyfriend" Lavellan to an ancient elven shrine with a male elf who she has probably been friends with for years at this point given that they are both arcane warriors and maybe have trained together with Commander Helene. Said male elf is also probably pretty good looking also just based on what appears to be the law of "Elves who find themselves near world changing individuals in Thedas tend to be freaking hot".
 
WTF kind of headcanon misery did I just run into. I mean....I don't know if I'm suppose to feel bad for my Lavellan....Solas....or Cillian at this point. I think Cillian because I'm pretty sure this is either rebound or friendzone territory......
 
....and some strange part of me wants to accept this these thoughts of mine. For the drama.
 
....I just want my Lavellan to be happy, but as a player I feel like I'm betraying Solas.......

I mentioned this when we were all in countdown mode for Trespasser, but for Tiger Festival I plugged in one of my "Perfect" world states, wherein everyone lives and Isabella is never recruited. Reading your predicament reminds me of the post I made. While my Lavellan is absolutely devoted to Solas, the ending does put her in an interesting position...

As a Comtesse in Kirkwall. I can imagine her using Leliana's contacts and Josephine's connections to keep up the search for Solas and provide her candidates for the somebody-Solas-doesn't-know. The Calamity 5 (Not-Inquisiton) meet to exchange info and practice their set in the basement on the rare occasion that the Divine can extract herself from her duties, but that isn't that often. So when Tiger isn't dealing with those things, she has a big empty house and a whole lot of nothing else to do. Many long, lonely nights of staring into the fireplace, thinking about her Dread Wolf follow. Eventually, she goes looking for some good to do in the city to keep herself occupied. Viscount Varric, knowing her situation, naturally offers some suggestions. And so, what happens when she inevitably runs into a broody, glowy elf with a big sword and a mission of his own?

One who also has intense eyes, an amazing voice and is completely available?

Oh dear.

Well, on the bright side, she may have found somebody Solas doesn't know.

Killed in DAO and not Divine

Honestly I see it as simply the explanation for her being alive rather than the silly "lol I'm back" that she had (Although still better than Oghren's DA:A return if killed). The Temple was pretty unique, full of Spirits and Oghren says this about it "The lyrium veins in these walls are richer and purer than any I've sensed in a while. It's doing things... changing this temple and everything in it." (Titan maybe?) so the notion she gets picked up  so the devs can bring her back fits in.

Basically I see it like Wynne; a  spirit returns her to life (Although Wynne being a mage gives a closer relationship to it).  Leliana's character in the game is exactly the same "killed" or not and she has full function of her memories. There is nothing to even suggest it or that she's even aware of it until this slide. It also interacts strangely with the ending of Inquisitor, LI, Cassandra, Harding and her doing their own secret investigation. Really I just see this as providing resolution for a DA:O choice that seemed vocally complained about and nothing more since it has no bearing on her character in the game.

But man. That asymmetrical robe, the staff, the philosophical bent, the quiet voice, and the fact that he's a good guy but very Closed Fist... I thought for a while that Solas was closest to Sun Li, but he seems closer to "good Closed Fist" than "evil Open Palm".

Especially in a story. It lets us explore these thoughts and feelings and ideas and something like games let us make choices and do things we would never do IRL. It's a form of exploration and expression, and that's as it should be.

I don't think "her" means Lavellan in that case, if only because that convo happens whoever is inquisitor in the game. I think that might be Mythal he's talking about...

 

Let's talk possible endings and headcanons here. You have Solas who took Mythal's powers, but not her divinity, and hints that Mythal's still around in some way (that elf in Val Royeaux dreaming about her for one).

 

Now, if some of us are right and time travel is involved in Solas' overall ploy to bring back the old world, I can see his plan having two steps : Step one bring down the veil. Step two, once this is done (and there's chaos all over the world from the sudden merging), Solas does his time magic spell and goes to stop himself from ever bringing up the veil in the first place.

 

Mythal on the other hand wants revenge. She wants reckoning. Having Solas go back to stop himself won't help her do that. Bringing down the veil though will, as it'll free the evanuris. What if Mythal (As Morrigan I would think, since it seems Morrigan gets her divinity, and I think that means the "conscious" part of her, if that makes sense) needs Solas to start on his plan to bring down the veil because she can't do it herself? After all, she was already dead when he did so and might not know the intricacies of the spell that brought it up. Once that's done though, all she needs to do is grab back her powers and go about her business.

 

We're left with a greatly weakened Solas (that can then be battled and slain if that's what the player wants, since he'd not be god-like anymore), Morrythal with her full powers back (no veil, remember!) and a bunch of Evanuris that are now free and mad and Morrythal can go hunt and get her revenge on them. and if she succeed? She becomes the last of the elvhen "gods" and can reign over the new world with no one to stop her.

 

After all, who could hold a grudge like the one Mythal holds for millenia while keeping completely sane? I think Mythal's not in her right mind anymore.

 

And now, I kinda want to write this...
