I have...more than once, like I'm pretty sure that's what the war table is actually there for  :pinched: am I a weirdo?

PS: Why do I have a picture of Solas and the Inquisitor in drag??? WTF self?

I'm pretty sure the Cullen tag on tumblr is 75% war table sex, so no. You're not a weirdo. Or if you are, you're in good company.

But please, for Solas' sake, be sure to knock all the map pins, action figures, and daggers out of the way before getting too into things. I'd hate for anyone to lose an eye or something.

I too assumed that we would see a somewhat shy and nerdy Solas. I'm thinking he will be very contemplative, but also very forward and direct from the trailer. I also think he would be delighted at someone showing the fade more interest than OMGDEMOOOOOONS!. I'm hoping to see some of that spice from Scotch Bonnet Candy man.

I've finally decided on my first inquisitor, A dalish mage. She disagrees with the animosity between city elves and dalish, dalish and human, even refusing to call human shems. She wishes everyone would be treated equally, regardless of race or class. However, she knows this will never be the case, so strives to be that one Dalish who is tolerant. She loves to read, have intelligent conversation and gain knowledge. She has good charisma, is mostly shy but can also have great moments of sarcastic wit and flirtation. She is also fiercely protective of friends and family (You don't mess with this mage's family).

Oh, no don't apologize! I don't want to shame anyone for having fun with it!

Sorry. There's a reason Awkward is part of my username. Honestly, don't mind me.

EDIT: The least I can do is offer a new conversation topic, if anyone would like. How does what we've seen recently change (or not change) your perceptions of Solas' personality? At first I assumed a shy, nerdy type, but I'm ecstatic that he appears to be more of a badass with a brain. He's a genius bruiser! He seems to have a commanding presence, which I am very happy with, personally.

Sorry. I can be an absolute lecher until redirected.  :pinched:

I would say that my very initial mental image of Solas - which really didn't start forming until after his bio and the Patrick Weekes character interview went up - had him a lot more mild-mannered seeming. A bit more shy and in the background. All of which could still be, I suppose, but it started running into critical error mental conflicts went GDL started tweeting about Solas being so nails.

And then the trailer with Dat Hand scene.

I wonder which Inquisitor that was he was yanking towards the Rift? I'd be somewhat curious if it's an identical motion for all races and gender of Inquisitor, or if he's a little more gentle with a female or, say, an elf or dwarf as opposed to a human or qunari.

I dunno quite what to think anymore, other than my extreme need for this game so I can sit there and burn through all the conversation options within my first five minutes of meeting him. LOL Heh, but seriously, I'm interested to see how they flow and open the conversation options throughout the game. Lord knows I was terrible in DAO. Sit there in camp burning through everyone until there were no new options left, and only THEN could we move on and actually do some more quests. LOLOLOL

I agree with most of this right down to burning through the conversations.  If I'm not controlled through gating, I just burn right through and then I'm sad because I'm out of conversations.  I'm sorry, Vector, I'll talk to you again in Act III. ;_;

I just really hope that Solas isn't more gentle with a woman or one of the smaller races.  The idea that he might treat some Inquisitors like they're more fragile is really off putting for me.  Especially if it's women.  Sexism (in this case, probably benevolent sexism) doesn't entirely kill my ability to enjoy a character but it takes some real mental gymnastics to get around it.

I wouldn't worry about Solas being sexist.   I reckon he'll be just as firm with whoever he is dealing with.   I must admit, though, I find it amusing to think of him manhandling a huge male qunari Inquisitor like it is no big deal and not worrying about the possible backlash from said Inquisitor afterwards.

I wonder what the scene would look like for dwarves and qunari?  I've got to admit that everything I've imagined to this point is hilarious.  I'm sure if it's in game BioWare found some way to make it not look completely silly, right?

Yeah, me too.  I know that sort of sexism is usually well-intended, but I can't stand the idea of him being gentler with a woman because she's a woman.  The smaller races...well, I have a mental image of dorfquisitor getting yanked clean off their feet and then just sort of dangling there while the rift closes   But I really hope he's just as forceful and direct with a female inquisitor, and doesn't underestimate her and that's not just because I'm a perv and find that totally hot.

I wouldn't really blame the character for that if something like that happens. I imagine that sometimes some odd mental processes go on when it comes to trying to differentiate between male and female PCs in a game and whether to make some differences or none at all. And there may be a disconnect between what a dev thinks a female player might want to see or be uncomfortable with and what's actually true. A male character yanking them around forcefully may be on that list.

It's possible that it might just be dependent on choice, too! Maybe you have a choices of whether or not to hesitate. Though from what I hear, it's really hard to make a scene where one character interacts so much with another so it may just show up no matter what you do! Your Inquisitor always hesitates. It could also have to do with the race you choose and running a dwarf means that he won't do it because it would be harder to animate? Everyone else is probably enough around his height that it's fine. I don't think they'd leave anyone out like that, though.

I'm not sure Solas could lift a dwarf one handed.  It might be funny to watch him try though.

It's not a fictional character's fault that they have certain traits.  But I will still have a harder time liking a sexist character even if it's the writer's fault for writing them that way.  I'm sorry, I don't know what else to say to this.

Women aren't a hive mind, of course.  I want to see women treated like men when it comes to heroes.  I can also see how someone would see it as abusive if he were to treat a woman with the same roughness as a man (whether or not the scene reads this way may well depend on context too - what's said and done before the hand grabbing).  If the devs have him be gentle or not touch a female Inquisitor and explain it by saying they didn't want to the scene to look like abuse, that's fine.  It's not what I want to see though.  I'd like to see heroines not getting the "women don't belong on the battlefield" treatment if they spend most of the game on the battlefield.

I've considered that.  An Inquisitor who's all, "LET'S DO THIS" may not see it.  It's very likely that we'll all see it though.  The Inquisitor has plenty of reasons to be wary of what's happening in that scene.

Have a Solas gif to make up for it?  He jumps in this one!  And is apparently not wearing proper shoes.  Cute feet but maybe the plague swamp isn't the best place for half-shoes.

I know, I was just kidding

I agree how the player reacts to potentially being elf-handled by Solas is influenced by context and their own personal feelings about it. There are probably plenty of male players who would feel uncomfortable being pushed around as well. Maybe that's part of the intention of that scene, kind of to get the reaction from the player like, 'Whoa, who the heck is this dude and what the heck does he think he's doing shoving my hand into a giant glowy chasm in the sky???' xD. Either way, I can't wait to find out what leads up to it and how Solas actually acts in that scene :D

Eh, I suppose this is the part where I have to bow out and simply say that I wouldn't be offended in a sexist-type manner by something like that. I just wouldn't. And that's probably hypocritical of me because I'm very much about equality in general, but I'm still a woman who will feel flattered if a guy holds a door open for me, rather than be offended that he felt a need to hold the door open for me, you know?

If end of the world stuff is happening and my husband yanked the crap out of my arm to resolve the situation, I could probably appreciate the magnitude of the situation at the time... but afterwards, I'm still liable to slap him for manhandling me, not gonna lie. :P
