Isn't it strange though that if the Veil was removed (or the tears in it have become huge), it didn't seem to show? It looked like Redcliffe was full of misery, sure, but there was no, "Whoa, something's really different in the fabric of the world around here." vibe. Dorian at least was a mage, so how come he didn't notice the Veil was gone or weakened - would that not affect how he senses mage or how powerful his spells are?

OMG, how awesome would it have been if Redcliffe!Solas came back with Dorian and Inky to try to convince himself not to do it?! Can you imagine the two Solases arguing with each other?!

I don't think he'd do this.

 

First - he wouldn't join the Inquisition in the first place to stop the Breach, if the Breach itself would accomplish what he wanted.

 

Second - he doesn't change his mind after Inquisitor and Dorian come back, so likely he knows exactly what would happen if Cory succeeded.

 

Third - the Veil in Redcliffe is "shattered", but not necessarily utterly destroyed, which likely has an effect on how the world looks and why we actually have to close rifts on our way (how would rifts appear if there's no Veil, or at least fragments of it?).

 

Fourth - Solas tells Quizzy that in order to accomplish his plans he'd have to enter the Fade first and then destroy the Veil, which is not what happened with Cory.

 

There's obviously more to effective destruction of the Veil that we yet don't know. And it definitely is not as simple as puncturing it and let it expand and then break everything.

 

 

Also - I've seen people arguing about Quizzy doing pretty much the same thing Solas does now and therefore not really understanding what Solas does makes people who went to Redcliffe for mages hypocrites. Iiii... don't really think that argument works.

 

I mean - it only works in a sense that we'd like to revert everything after we saw the horror of Cory-ruled future... but we're not the only ones who want to revert it.

 

Leliana might have told Dorian that this was all real for those who had to suffer through this future, but she was eager to sacrifice herself nonetheless to return Quizzy to appropriate time (and after she's told of her sacrifice in haven she said she always loved a bargain and she'd do it again for second chance in history) - so did every other companion. The world from Redcliffe was indeed an unfixable abomination, its seems - more than that: Alexius tells Quiz before the fight that Corypheus is coming to destroy them anyway. We see the castle shaking and everyone from the dark future being Adamant that they have to hurry, because there's no time left. There was nothing really to be saved there. That place was doomed no matter if Quizzy stayed there or not.

 

Question is whether modern Thedas is eventually doomed as well? I'd like to think it is, because it would provide an interesting moral dillema and further put Solas' choice to reshape the world in the grey. 

 

...I mean, we DO now have enough information to think that SOME change has to occur in Thedas, in order for it to stray from path of possible future apocalypse - be it by Blight, awaking Enavuris, corrupted Titans or else. So unless there's a faint chance of third way, we may yet find ourselves almost in an exact spot Solas is - do nothing and wait for the world to eat itself from within, or risk change, but for a terrible price.

I don't think you need to pick that specific ending. In sera's cutscene, I said I would join up with the Jennies - so come the epilogue, you saw a slide with a cloaked figure with a crossbow arm (!!!). I got this ending for both staying with and disbanding the inquisition. Getting the option to join the Jennies is likely approval related (I think I did really well with sera on that playthrough).

I know, that was my point. It is based on your conversation with Sera at the Winter Palace during the time your allotted to catch up with old friends. If you befriended her in the base game she offers you a place at her side with the red jennies anticipating the end of The Inquisition. You can choose to accept or decline. I think anyone who befriended her and wants to decline is insane but you know... So am I for accepting her offer so I'm not one to judge. Anyways, this is a non-issue as I agree with you.

when u find him in future redcliffe, after dorian tells him of time magic, and quizzy asks him something like "you understood that?" he answers: "you would think such understanding would stop me from making such terrible mistakes. You would be wrong". what terrible mistakes is he referring that have to do with his immidiate understanding of time magic? - cant be the orb he gave to cori, it isnt an coherent answer when quizzy asks how come he understood that so easily what dorian said

Don't let a difficult start rob you of certainty or confidence. I think I haven't had it easy in life either, but managed to get far compared to where I started, and even experienced a few serious professional and personal failiures in the process. It taught me life can be very unfair, but if you're creative, and most importantly resilient, you can get past it. 

 

And take your time, when you're all grown up there will be all those other awesome opportunities. (Maybe we'll see you working on DA5 )

 

 

I just want to give you an internet hug and say that reaching your goal is always possible with hard work and perseverance. As for the posting, it's always good to see what people ask for so you can prepare for it later on

I know that I have come a long way already, especially for what I had to endure during the time. I don't like to go into details, but I had to deal with cancer in my family, sickness and death of family members, a car accident plus the aftermath of it (my left leg feels like I took an arrow to the knee quite often) and a lot more. But I still made it. Thankfully, my parents really encourage me a lot.

 

And yes, I agree, it is good to know what kinds of jobs are open and what kinds of skills are needed for them. The whole process of growing and advancing in your kind of branch in the job industry has always been fascinating for me. (Btw, I ALWAYS read fascinating in Solas' voice now. Always.)

 

The worst part of my hobbies is explaining them to others, frankly. Whenever I talk about loving to draw, write, read and photograph all I seem to get in return is "And do you have other hobbies?" to which I mostly reply that I like to spend time with my friends, because most people seem to gloss over the fact that all of this is time consuming as much as it is fun.

The friendship between her and my Lavellan got very strained after Mythal, and a lot of it had to do with the fact that Sera just never seemed to grow up.  But talking to her in Trespasser, she HAS grown up.  She's older and wiser, but she's still undeniably Sera, causing havoc and throwing soap.  So much love for that girl

Did you ever look up when you were in Redcliffe in the mage quest?  There are floating spires of rock, like you see when you're in the Fade.

 

Edit:  You can only see them when you're in the courtyard after you free your companions and Leliana.  I know most of the quest takes place inside the castle itself but when you go into the courtyard and Dorian says the Breach is everywhere then Solas says the Veil is shattered and there is no longer any barrier between this world and the Fade, if you look up at that point you see the floating rock spires.

Okay, I may have a problem.

 

After getting emotionally gut-punched by Trespasser (walking around in a fog for two days before breaking down and sobbing so badly that my fiancé wanted to call the therapist), I just spent over $100 in the Bioware store on books and such.

 

This is abuse, right?  I'm emotionally traumatized and I just gave them more money to enable the abuse?  What?!

I did this after the main game.  Totally worth it.  The books add so much to your awareness.  I was especially surprised by my turnaround on Loghain.  I still kill him everytime...but that's cause I love Alistair.  And no one pre-DAI was worth it. However I would sack EVERYONE for a happy ending with Solas & Inky.  

 

You hear that bioware Gods?  EVERYONE.  For a happy ending. I mean...my other characters have had years of happiness now.  Solas deserves some in his lifetime.

I agree but I think there's one more way the analogy is not entirely correct: Solas does not want to destroy the world because there's something inherently wrong with the world itself, especially if we managed to convince him that Thedosians are also people. 

 

Something must be done eventually to prevent an apocalypse, but that's not why he's doing it. I replayed that scene several times and he makes it clear it's because he wants to give his people their homeland back. To him, it was not about what the world has become but about what has happened to the ancient elves.

This. Right here. Exactly. I want it to be a choice we have to sit and think about and agonize over, rather than "kill the bad guy that wants to destroy life as we know it." It'll probably end up being a path of redemption, if there can be one, to show him how wonderful and lovely the world is now and how much fun he can have building a new life... but I really love the idea that hey, bad s*** is going to happen and how do you choose?

 

Of course, that's sort of the theme in Mass Effect, especially by the third game, and my Shepard passionately declared that humans keep on fighting because it's what they do, and they would find a way. But if there was no other way? If we had to choose between bad, bad, and maybe slightly less bad? That would be pretty awesome.

Hmmm...for me, it would depend on how it was implemented.  The bad, bad, and slightly less bad choices in ME3 were so nonsensical and came so suddenly at the end that they didn't feel like they had any meaning.  Which was...bad for storytelling.  I would prefer something like Cole's quest, where each outcome has significant (but different) drawbacks and benefits, and no one solution is obviously any better than the others.  But then again, bittersweet-to-Earn-Your-Happy-Ending has generally been my preference.  Too much bad tends to result in me going, "OK, f*** it" and finding something else to do

Anyway... the more I think about it the more the shower of disapproval from companions and Cole's "Greatly Approves" by choosing the heart option after romanced Lavellan chases after Viddassala to save Solas is the devs usage of approval record system to drop us a pretty massive hint.

 

I mean.. when I began Trespasser I've had Cole's approval entirely maxxed. In base game this normally means that I don't see positive approval changes anymore - the 'x approves' doesn't appear on a screen... So how come it appears for Cole when I pick the heart option? I shouldn't be able to see it.

 

I'd like to believe it's devs shamelessly shouting to us "Yo! Continue on this path! It'll be so worth it later!"

 

.... buuut, it may also mean potential future consequences when it comes to friction that appears between her and her friends. Let's face it - Solas may be emotionally compromised, but so is Lavellan. She still admits to loving the guy who, for all intents an purposes, lied to her, used her, and was in relationship with her, while at the very same time he plotted to kill her and everyone else. There may not be much understanding between her and in fact there may be some falling out. (plus, well - she's an elf. We don't know yet why modern elves are rounded up somewhere and for what reason, but people would likely question her and her motivations even more.)

 

It's possible that this route may be terribly trying not just for her love for Solas and attempts to redeem him, but may even result in someone betraying her.

 

I mean, the possible betrayal of Inquisitor by, say, new PC or some important NPCs is pretty likely anyway, and the misunderstanding between Inquisitor who wants to change Solas' mind instead of outright killing him may exist as well, hence I don't think the arc is undoable from resources perspective.

 

For the sake of drama, I'd like to see some friction. It would be interesting!

Right. I didn't necessarily mean an ending where we have to choose to stand by a blue orb, red orb, or green orb. But more that if we had the full picture and it was evident that Thedas as we know it was going to go up in flames regardless, what do you do? Solas said that the Evanuris would have destroyed the world if he hadn't acted. So... what if the world will die anyway unless he restores things to where they were? The magic that faded and let the crossroads crumble will finally fade so much that the rest of the world will unravel. Something like that. It then becomes a far more interesting situation.

Inter-party conflict is the kind of thing that can be fascinating and emotional when done right, and extremely obnoxious when done wrong.  But I think you're right; the Solavellan relationship is a good setup for it.  It would just depend on the characters.  There are some, like Vivienne, whom I could see causing trouble over the relationship even if they're initially on good terms with the Inquisitor.  Others, like Cass, may change their opinions based on what quizzy says and does.

 

Althought for now, it looks like "I'm going to save Solas" doesn't translate into "I'm going to be a love martyr."  Even the romanced Lavellan who wants to redeem Solas seems to understand that whatever she may want, stopping him from carrying out his BS plan is more important.  "We will save our friend from himself...if we can."

My canon is templar alliance so I've only played In Hushed Whispers twice, I think. The templar quest always appealed more to me, with the exception of one small moment.

I think all jerks, even to an extent mythal in her own way. they didn't start out jerks tho, but became corrupted by their power.
