It's so beautiful and sad to think he chuckled because he realizes he did the same and now faces an eternity of torment. 

 

He probably sees it as killing her, but I think Mythal's playing him, so I don't put the blame on him for this one.

 

I still wonder if the "laughed madly with glee" part of the legend corresponds to anything.

Oh yeah... If the option to have him lives exist (and I think it ultimately will) there will be a cost and it won't be one that all players might be ready to pay. As far as Sophie's choice go... what/who would you be willing to sacrifice so he'll live? What burden of guilt will your Inquisitor end up with? Living isn't easy. Your hands will be bloody. You will have things to atone for also.

That is another line that caused a bit of contriversy in the Solavellan fandom.

It means one of two things.

1) They didn't sleep didn't together. When Lavellan says her line she means in a 'he took my heart' way. Solas reveals why he didn't sleep with her - he didn't want to when he felt he was being dishonest.

2) They did sleep together. Lavellan is horrified at the Dread Wolf 'taking' her, but Solas reasures her that he was always Solas when with her. None of what they had was faked or meant to trick her.

 

Which one it means is entirely up to the player to decide.  Weekes left it ambigous in the main game, and continued it in the DLC.

Glad I'm not the only one with dreams that make me wake up and exclaim "What the hell was that, brain!?" (at least before I forget what they were mostly about).

 

Still, my probably only dream about Solavellan is pretty tame and was mostly about me finding out that last DLC was released (some time before we even knew the title of it) and that I enthusiastically went to play it, only to realize that my Lavellan looks completely different from how she should be and that means that something must be bugged - I woke up convinced that what I dreamed happened for real, and I was pissed, because I had to restart the game and go to Black Emporium first to fix her looks

 

 

 

After Solas removed my character's vallaslin I realized she doesn't look like I envisioned her because the vallaslin was really changing her face, it made me get the proportions off and I made me cringe, so I changed her a few times, replayed the scene as few times after awhile I was "UGH I WANT TO FINISH THIS SO I CAN PLAY TRESPASSER" so I moved on and finished the game half satisfied.

And then the DLC.. Different lightening, I restarted the DLC 5-6 times, going back forth from the emporium, I imagined every time I returned the characters were saying "did you do something with your eyes/nose/chin?  :rolleyes:"

I just had such a specific vision of her face...

Restarting the game to go back to the black emporium is annoying, endless loadingggggggg

It's meant to be up to each player whether or not they lay together or not. Some headcanon that they did not, others headcanon that they did and he meant that he did not lay with her as Fen'harel, but as Solas

it's ambiguous. deliberately, I think, because some fans believe Solavellen is an asexual romance, and others don't.

 

Solas could have never slept with her. Or, Solas did sleep with her - but he never lied about loving her, and was not using her for his own gains.

I think he's saying, I didn't just have sex with you because I wanted to have sex. Essentially, saying that the love he showed her was real and not a deception to use her for his own pleasure.

Something I'm confused about:

What was the damn point in the elven artifacts to strengthen the veil? Okay, we could take it that perhaps Solas was lying and it didn't really strengthen anything (I mean, it does uncover a pretty powerful rift), but even the Dalish mage at the first artifact is sure it'd strengthen the veil.

The only thing I can think of is his comment about not being a monster, and he would rather the people who will have to die do it in relative comfort. I suppose the elven artifacts helped ensure there were less rifts, but it I don't know. Thoughts?

The Dalish mage at the first veil artifact is from one of the books, The Masked Empire I believe.

Her clan was killed by Imshael, summoned by her Keeper to try and tell them about the Eluvian.

 

I believe she was an agent of Fen'harel all along, and that her clan may have been as well.

 

so, it could be what you think: Lessening the rifts so people aren't in horrible suffering before the end. 

 

Or she could have been lying.

She dreams him and he merely watches from distance. Ouch.

And there she though she'll just throw everything behind her, no matter what, and follow him like a puppy. And he dumped her again.

That guy has issues. Including destroy the world ones.

 

I've created an elven mage yesterday; is the PT different for a mage rather than an archer as I was at the moment? I usually play healers but went with sniping the first time around, but I want to go back to my original path.

Oh, on a side note, my graphic card is slightly below recommended and on W7 it was atrocious recently, which made me upgrade to W10. Smooth as butter with some options on ultra, rather happily surprised how pretty the game actually is, hahah.

Did you notice, how soflty he asks the "I suspect you have questions," if you're his beloved one? I almost cried out when I heard it as opposed to the trailer. It reeked of doomed romance right than and there.

We've talked about this, so you're not the only one wondering, but the way I took it was he wouldn't have slept with her if he was Fen'Harel, but he's not. He's Solas, and Fen'Harel is nothing more than a title given to him by his enemies. Although some people are taking it as it's being left to interpretation, if you want to believe they didn't sleep with each other, or that they did, then that dialogue is open enough to allow you to think whichever your preference.

 

My preference; they totally doinked. Phwoar!

How DO I catch the Harlequin? I keep hearing a 'woosh' and the radar flashes but it's always gone by the time I react.

And where the schematic for Cal's armour? I have a mighty need for it.

For the harlequin you have to walk up directly ... and I mean directly ... behind it.  There's no clicky interaction on the PC but I clicked on it anyway just in case!  If you do it right, the Inquisitor will whistle and the harlequin will put its hands up.  You'll get 2 Dex and 200-ish gold in a bag on the ground.  Saving before trying to sneak doesn't help because the harlequin is random and my not be there when you reload.  However you can reload and try to get the harlequin to appear in a place that's easier for you to sneak up behind.

 

Something I also noticed, if you load a game and hear a whoosh that means the harlequin has probably just appeared somewhere close-ish to you.  Also it can appear on a roof of a building, the roof nearest Josephine so you can jump from up there onto the roof.

 

Can you tell I spent a long-ass time not just finding but trying to sneak before actually getting the harlequin 5 times?  Blarg!

 

The schematic for Calpernia's armor ... I think you have to find all 4 pieces of gear of The Taken Shape:  The Eye That Weeps, The Skin That Stalks, The Bind That Guides, and The Hand That Cuts.  Or you just find it with the armor (The Skin That Stalks) in the ancient area you can reach from the Crossroads.  It's one of those.

I've been lurking on this thread for quite a while now, but I'm just too heartbroken from Trespasser, and you are all so nice and sweet and funny, I just had to participate

 So yeah I never imagined by romancing the sweet, a bit awkward lonely elf (so I thought...) it would end up like this...but like most on this forum, I do seem to have a type. The homicidal-villainous-complex-grey-fifty shades of dark-but-still-I Love him- type. Oh well. 

 

It's jut horrible. I'm always thinking about my poor Lavellan and this doomed romance (maybe not so doomed, I do hope it will have some sort of a happy ending - yeah let's be optimists), looking for videos, every songs remind me of them, I'm like eating chocolate while crying in front of this stupid egg and his stupid decisions...and my boyfriend is getting kind of worried. Yep, time to share a bit of my pain Just reading you helped a lot, so thank you so much. 

 

Beside, all your theories and analysis are just so incredibly well thought and developed...I remember I visited often when I finished the main game and most of you had already guessed Solas's plan...So yeah, you all rock. 

 

Just a thought : Solas must blame himself so much now for what happened to Felassan...and if Felassan can somewhat see him, he must be like "the nerve of this one, he killed me for being too attached to an elven girl and wanting to let her a chance, and here he falls in love with another elven girl and nearly give up his plan!". Talk about hypocrisy Solas. But kudos for the character development. If only it could actually lead you to reconsider the end of the world...

I had to play the game on medium with some option on high and mesh and shaders on ultra, but after upgrading to W10 all options are now running on high and some at ultra      I was very happy indeed

 

Its amazing how unoptimized Windows 7 and especially W8 was. lol

I made the sweetest Templar romance in Origins king when he didn't want to be and made him doink the woman he absolutely hated so my Warden could live. BRING IT ON, BIOWARE! I'LL TAKE WHATEVER YOU GOT!

The problem is they'd have to give us an option that still keeps Solas true to himself, in that we will have to utterly convince him that his plan is faulty, or perhaps find a means of rebuilding the connection between the Fade and the waking world without bringing about chaos. He broke up with Lavellan because as much as he also wants to run off into the sunset with Lavellan and just forget his plan (the weight of that scene just hit me doubly painful. UNGH!), he couldn't bring himself to forget everything he set himself up to do.

Now I'm just picturing Solas as a little boy, and Lavelan as his wolf puppy he can't keep anymore. Finds her a home with some other wolves so she can be happy, but Lavellan pup chases after him and he turns to her and says with tears in his eyes. "No Vhenan, you can't come with me. You have to stay here."

 

Puppy Levllan: *Tilts her head in confusion* Woof?

 

Solas: I can't keep you anymore. I'm, I'm sorry. *Turns around and runs away*

 

Lavellan pup chases after him, howling at him to come back, and Solas's jumps into his mom's car and she drives away. Lavellan pup watching it leave and looking so abandoned.
