it has been said ingame that neither the inq or solas have time. Their deaths are expected, at least by solas. I don't know if its set in stone though or exactly what he meant by, we're running out of time

There's also a couple of concerns I got reminded of when sifting through my screenshot folder to find my new treasures. Regarding some of the things we discover throughout the DLC:

Did anyone else noticed the discarded elfy balls lying outside the Library? Here Dorian stands on one with much class:

This, among other things, have led me to believe that the elven ruins that were destroyed by the veil are the remnants of Arlathan perhaps. When the veil is broken, are these ruins going to magically be made all better?

Also, Solas is going to free his people. Okay. But, can anyone help me understand from where? If they are simply behind the Eluvians, he could do that without bringing down the veil. If they are in the Fade, why didn't we see them when we were there? Why is there no mention of any elf or dreamer ever dreaming about one of them? Or is there and I just don't know it? If Coryphelus managed to make it all the way to the black/gold city, why didn't he or any of his magister buddies encounter them somewhere?

Hmm...

And then there's this:


In the deep roads beyond the eluvian. I had spirit Cole with me, and he said; "They're all singing. Coffers, coffins, corpses that aren't dead. A song crying out in the dark". (Thanks to FernRain for the actual quote) So, I wonder who could be sleeping in those boxes.

Hmmmm.....!

If they're important and powerful I sure hope we didn't drown them. Especially if they hold grudges.

Something I just thought of seeing that last picture of the lyrium-well or whatever that is. It does kind of look like the centre of the titan in the mural O.o. Even that straight line is there..... Is there a lyrium well build over a titans heart?

He's the same with everyone I think. And I'm actually more impressed with his trembling "And now you know..." - that one is definitely reserved for romanced Lavellans.

I love how he says "What is the old Dalish curse? "May the Dread Wolf take you?"" Particularly how his voice trembles when he quotes the curse. He must seriously hate that curse. SOLAS YOU SAD PUPPY!

It dawned on me that everyone must have sat around discussing what happened after my Lavellan disbanded the Inquisition and all. I can just see her, Leliana, Josephine, Cullen and Cassandra all sitting for the first time in years just having a cup of tea or something.

 

Josephine:So, wait, Solas is the Dread Wolf? I am not familiar with Dalish lore, who is that exactly?

Lavellan: It's complicated....

Leliana: He's Fen'Harel. The Dalish have believed him to be a trickster and that he locked away their gods. Turns out he did by creating the Veil himself. Our dear Lavellan here swears there is a goodness to him though. *smiles and winks at Lavellan*

Cullen: I always knew there was something weird about him. Always this look like "I know more than you" look.......And he doesn't like tea! Who doesn't like tea?!? Sorry, Inquis....Sorry Lavellan.

Lavellan:*sigh*

Cassandra: My dear friend....the heart break  must be awful. Tell me if you need anything.

Lavellan:*smiles at Cassandra*

Josephine: You did what?!?!

*everyone turns to look at Josephine*

Josephine: *stands up and knocks over tea and cookies* First, I had to convince everyone the Inquisition was necessary, then I had to tell everyone the Inquisitor and Herald of Andraste was a Dalish elf! Do you know how difficult it was to convince Orlesian nobles that a Dalish elf was going to save them?!?!?! Then you nearly get us thrown out of the WInter Palace Ball, and yes you saved the world but do you know how many times I had to explain that look you gave people everytime you heard the word 'rabbit' in Val Royueax!?!?! You just up and leave meetings with nobles and you don't use proper titles anywhere! And now I'm hearing that the whole time you have been having a love affair with your people's most hated god! If this gets out there, I don't think there are enough political favors in all of Thedas to recover from this!

*Josephine storms out of the room*

 

Leliana: Thank the Maker you disbanded the Inquisition. Poor Jose would have had an actual heart attack just now.

Cullen: So why is she so upset? There's not really anything to worry about.

Leliana: Just give her a few weeks. She will come out of ambassador mode.

I mean...It's really not the Solas we know, is it? He's utterly ruthless and not even willing to consider anything else for just a slight moment. And he's been that way for a while, since Felassan knew he would be like that.

This breaks my heart. but it also makes me hopeful. Solas has changed a great deal in the 1+ year he passed with the Inquisition. He's already not the man Felassan knew anymore. It gives me hope that he can continue to change for the better.

Which is why I'm happy to have limited choice in an indefinite series of long, epic fantasy RPGs. The shorter your storyline, the easier it is to keep track of all the numerous plot threads. It must get too complicated at some point. If I wanted to play a game which maximised player choice, I'd probably pick up a three hour visual novel or the like.

 

Catching up on the mach speed thread, but I wanted to toss in 2 cents on choice in a game:

 

ME2 was IMO a great self-contained example of the illusion of choice.  Because let's face it; the basic plot of ME2 is entirely on rails.  You HAVE to recruit the first set of characters.  Horizon, the Reaper, Cerberus, and the Collector Base all play out more-or-less the same way.  And yet, I never felt frustrated like I did in ME3, because ME2 gave me so many other little ways to react to the world.  All the companion quest outcomes.  All the differences in dialogue tone.  I couldn't stop working for Cerberus, but I could damn well have a very loud opinion on it  Compare this to ME3, where I couldn't express any opinion except "ALLIANCE GOOD CERBERUS BAD."

 

The illusion of choice IMO is what's important.  Allowing the player to attempt things and RP their character, even if those choices won't necessarily work out to anything dramatically different.  That's what I loved about Trespasser.

We are in opposition to Solas no matter what.  But there's such a huge RP difference between "I love you and won't give up," "I'll change your mind," and "I'LL MURDER YOUR STUPID FACE OFF."  What I get out of RPing isn't necessarily the huge world-changing stuff.  It's shaping a character, seeing the world through his or her eyes.

I'm not really good at writing fiction stuff but I now have this scene stuck in my head of Lavellan telling a group of Dalish the tings she's learned about the valasslin and the past. When thay ask how she knows all this stuff she pauses then tells them "I saw it in the fade" . Then starts to giggle and leaves the others wondering why she can't stop laughing.

I've been planning to include this stuff. When I'm able to write once more and not mushed by a flood of thoughts and feelings at the attempt.

lol, I had a similar scene that I thought would happen with my Lavellan. Only with some of the companions getting drunk in a tavern after all of the nonsense and a drunk Lavellan cracking up at the whole "I saw it in the Fade" line Solas used all the time.

Oh, I felt so sorry for him in that moment. He says that with so much pain and sorrow. I think he also fears what will be her reaction to his true identity.
