I took Blackwall, Sera and Varric with my Solasmancing Lavellan through Trespasser and it was great   I got so much more chat with them then I did my Dorian/Cass/Cole mix and it was pretty fun stuff as well. 

 

Also, Varric summed up the Solas revelation just perfectly with: "Damn it, Chuckles"

My Lavellan never really fit in and never wanted to be the clan's first. Her mother is the keeper of the clan, she trust her and loves her, even if they usually argue about responsibilities and duty.

I always headcanoned my Lavellan to visit her clan between the end of the game and trespasser. She sneaks in, hooded and silent, acting as a traveler. She listens to some conversations and finds out her clan members finally respect her, after the events of inquisition.

When she gets in front of her mother she shows her face, and starts crying like a child.

She doesn't explain much, but her mother just hugs her. She trust her and she knows whatever happened, happened for a reason. She kisses her on the forehead, wishes her luck and lets her go back to the inquisition.

Now I'm trying to decide if after the dlc she'll ever go back to the clan, but I doubt it. Maybe she'll try to explain something by letters, and will go visiting if she ever feels things are getting bad. I headcanon her being busy with the wolf hunt and eventually taking breaks being a Jenny with sera lol. She looks like such a badass in my mind in her post-trespasser time!

Mine has a very supportive father who is the keeper of another clan. Her mother died a few years ago, but had a very powerful impact on her life - she had also been first to the keeper. Both showed magical talents early and Lenalas was supposed to follow in her parents footsteps. That didn't work out with her not having magical talents, but she still knows a lot about magic. She was very distant from most people of her clan, but she soon became the leader of her clan's hunters after proving her ruthlessness warrior side - and thus made her daddy, aunt and her cousins very proud. She does not have any siblings, though. But she's got the support of two clans on her side, so she isn't alone. 

 

I like to imagine that her father completely loses it once he learns that his very own daughter has a love-hate relationship with the Dread Wolf...but given his nerdy attitude, he'd probably just want to know a ton of stuff about him. He's probably as much of a magic nerd as Solas is.

 

"Can you describe his voice? What does he look like? Do you think he could give me some tips about magic? Woah, what was Arlathan like? Does he smell good? Do you know how to contact him?"

So, I am trying to make that dashing Dalish rogue for Josephine......and I freaking fail at making a decent looking guy elf. Like, it is awful.

 

Does anyone have any tips....or mods.....or just....ugh...

 

Can I also just say it's a little weird that it is all the same hair that the females get. >_>

I dodged a lot of ME3's problems since I romanced Garrus in 2/3 and no one in 1, but that game's RP issues went beyond romance.  Thessia, for example.  Why is my FemShep, who has been very cool and contained in 150+ hours of gameplay, suddenly losing it at her pilot who's just trying to help?  Why is my ManShep, who was so bitter about the Alliance in ME2, suddenly bro-ing it up with them like nothing bad happened? 

 

I could go on and on, and I HAVE at length before   But it's good that DA:I seems to have avoided a lot of those pitfalls, and I hope the series continues to do a good job of accommodating lots of RP room.

 

Try RPing a lesbian Shepard when EVERYTHING she says sounds like she's hitting on Jacob.

This kind of stuff has been happening before ME3. In ME1, why is every option my FemShep has to finish her conversation with Kaidan sound like she's hitting on him? Why is my Femshep being flirty with Jacob every time she opens her mouth? Why is FemShep hitting on the big muscle guy in ME 3 whos name I forgot?

After RPing a Shepard with Earthborn and Sole Survivor backgrounds, someone with heavy trust issues and a lot of associated pain, I was not doing that again.

 

So she has her parents and is the eldest of three. By Trespasser's end she's about 33. Her sister is 25, and little surprise brother is nearly 17. She also has a super close relationship with her longtime friend and onetime first love and her wife. So I definitely gave my Lavellan cushions to fall on.

 

Your Separd and my Shepard would have a lot to talk about.  Probably in group therapy (also Earthborn/SS).

 

Shepard's backgrounds kind go on a downward spiral:

 

Spacer: My parents are amazing!

Colonist: My parents were amazing

Earthborn: What's a 'parent'?

 

Okay, so I've ran through the DLC 3 times, and only now am I noticing a bug. I won't spoiler it since it's not Trespasser spoilers, but essentially it's treating the game as if I put Gaspard on the throne, but I definitely reconciled Celene and Briala. When it's mentioned, they talk about Gaspard, and the Emperor. Wat.

 

Anyone else had something like that?

Edit to keep it on topic: I know it's overly done, but I love the idea of my protags. having little-to-no family to speak of, it speaks to my IRL situation, and I love how they always emphasize you can find family in your friends.

 

The bug is related to putting Celene and Briala on the throne.  There should be codex entries scattered around that show the correct worldstate.

 

This is why I liked DA:O's City Elf origin - you were obviously part of a community, and were close to your dad and cousins. All of my city elves have been fiercely protective of their family for that reason. It's really nice to see healthy, good family relationships in fiction.

 

I also quite like 'grey' relationships with family. You can have a trying relationship with your parents or your siblings or your extended family without it being completely dysfunctional (I'm speaking, I suppose, a bit from experience here). And it's nice to see instances where difficult relationships become slightly less difficult - people find common ground, grow closer, realise what's truly important. I hope that if Lavellen does trust her mum enough to tell her that, yes, she screwed up, she fell for the Dread Wolf, and she's completely heartbroken, that her mum will surprise her by hugging her and telling her it's ok and showing real sympathy.

 

That said, I think unspeakably bad relationships can sometimes work if done in a different manner. My Surana came from a family of strongly religious elves, who had escaped Tevinter to become travelling traders in the south - when she showed her first sign of magic at the age of nine, her mother called her a maleficar and she was abandoned by her family in the wilderness. She deals with it by a) not mentioning it ever, and if someone mentions it, act as nonchalantly as possible. If she acts like it didn't happen or affect her, then maybe it didn't. There are too many sad life stories in the world, she thinks, no need to add another. Very similar to Zevran in that respect.

 

That's why I like the dwarven commoner origin. Your relationship with your mother is completely screwed up, but you're very close with your older sister.

No, romancing Sera as an elf is very difficult and you have to really be flippant about your culture. So I decided not to. She's getting my human mage.

Romancing her with an Adaar would give max approval and be the easiest, but up to you. You can also flirt with Harding while she's around for approval.

Yup. It depends on who you have with you as to who will get to comment. When I had Cass, she just said "What?" but with Varric on the team he got to say his line. I wonder if everyone potentially has a comment to say over the reveal or just a select few.

I like to imagine that my Lavellan complained about her father's attitude a lot - aaand then she met Solas and she began to appreciate her daddy a lot more. So he can't really complain at all. She really needs someone that grounds her, and her father certainly does so in a very unconventional way. His clan is a bunch of outcasts, too. He was a typical hobo apostate, mostly hated by other Dalish (he got thrown out by his clan because of his untypical openness) for a long time before he decided to form his own clan. So my Lavellan is acquainted with a lot of oddballs. 

 

The dad of your Lavellan sounds amazing, too! Is his relationship to his daughter good?

I mean, now that we all know that Solas was basically going up to Dalish clans not even thinking they are real people and trying to teach them they are wrong. omg I'm crying now thinking about it. Mine was a adept (because I love mage classes).  I'm not even too sure how she got the training and implants and everything .

My old Lavellan never wanted to be first either, because she is afraid that she is not cut out to be a leader and that her leadership will lead her clan to their demise. She's kinda like Alister in that regard. After being put into the position of the Inquisitor, she was like "Haha, we are all going to die."

 

She is also really close to her clan and one of the reasons why she refused to let Solas remove her vallaslin is because her biggest fear is being exiled, an outcast.

I nearly choked on my drink laughing xD Especially during the pocahontas part as it refreshed my memory of the Solas and Lavellan in Colors of the Wind posted on here the other day.

All these ME posts have made me realise that I do not have a canon for those games. I like Shepard, but I have never been attached to that character like I have my HoF and Quizzies. 

So I have played with every background, almost all the classes (never soldier. I think that's the only one I've not done) and have done both male and female, romancing Thane. Kaidan, Garrus (twice), Tali and Liara. 

 

I really need to go back and 100% ME1 like I started out doing. I do not like ME1 much. I will not forgive all the people from these forums who claimed it was the best of the trilogy. Lies. I hope those same people didn't moan about the repetitive maps in DA2. Because that's all ME1 is outside of the main story. The same freaking map to sidequest through.

I also hate the mako.

HATE.
