Possibly. We know spirits can become real people thanks to Cole. Also, just pointing it out there,  there is some similarities between Solas's Dread Wolf card and a pride demon when it comes to having multiple eyes.

Hahaha, that was me during my first Trespasser playthrough.

 

Bull was like, "Next time we get the gang back together..." and I was thinking, "You were never part of the gang. I brought you here because you're Qunari, but in the early days 'the gang' was Solas, Varric and Cassandra. Then Solas, Varric and Blackwall. Then Solas, Cole and Dorian. Either way, Solas was always here. I literally never went outside without him, and now the gang will never be complete without him. So... yeah. Just keep hitting things."

eh all the same character, as long as we're talking about the sassy one. I play as fem!hawke too, but i also played inquisition on the default world state (cause i couldn't figure out how to connect to the keep) which has male!hawke. now whenever I think about hawke i think of them as a guy, which kinda sucks tbh because all my hawkes are female 

 

btw can anyone help me with the keep? i've never been able to figure it out x-x

No - we actually HAVE his actual self-potrait in Trespasser: the wolf looks different AND has three eyes, while this one has an outline of one. Add to that quite differently drawn muzzle, much longer legs compared to torso, no 'horn', plus it's actually grey/black.

I suggested a theory alternate to my 'turned out to be 95% true' theory months ago where I wondered if the elven gods were not spirits/demons of some description, based on values they seemed to embody and then became corrupted into.

 

fen'harel wisdom->pride

mythal justice->vengeance

andruil survival->hunger

falon'din purpose->desire

 

all known corruptions.

 

elgar'nan valor or command->rage

and so on (guess at a possible corruption).

I'm actually coming around to the theory that Solas is an ancient purpose/pride demon/spirit, maybe. Or at least partially was. Or potentially, once was that, and was changed.

 

There's a couple of codex entries which suggest that elves were very spirity, for instance, "Exile of the Forbidden Ones" describes a banishment of a spirit:

 

"For abandoning the people in their time of greatest need, for casting aside form to flee to where the earth could not reach, we declare Xebenkeck and others of her ilk exiled from the lands of the Evanuris. Beware! Their familiarity with shape allows them to travel paths unaided. They may be bound, but only the protection of the gods will fully shield you from their malice. They are forbidden from the earth that is our right."

 

- This spirit has a gender. She, not it. These spirits have identities beyond what they represent. They have names which aren't mere emotions.

- These spirits could take forms and shapes - they aren't formless, vague beings.

- "travel paths" could be literal - i.e. autonomy of movement, or it could be more figurative, and given the amount of time 'path' is used in elven to denote someone's major life choices, one wonders whether Xebenkeck had free will, and ability to choose, and that is frowned upon as dangerous.

- binding spirits, a practice that Solas finds particularly abhorrent, is something that's encouraged here. Perhaps slavery and binding are closer than we think in the elven world - to a certain extent, they have the same purpose, they submit people to someone else's will without choice.

- it's ambiguous here whether Xebenkeck was considered one of the people, or simply a servant of one. The usage of 'our' right suggests not. Still, spirits were duty bound to serve elves, akin, again, to slavery.

- regardless of whether elves resemble spirits of vice versa, they have a legal status in the elvhen empire, which suggests that they're treated as something close to 'people', even if they're hardly equals (think something alike to the relationships between humans/dwarves/elves in modern thedas).

 

I think spirits could be a lot closer to how Cole is now - able to become part of the physical world - without being bound. I think elves could also be similar.

 

There's another codex entry from the library, which I won't quote in full, but it's about a group of elves as well as some spirits hearing a lecture on how the earth - the physical world - works. It's simultaneously unchanging - you can't will anything into existence - as well as very delicate - power spells can just destroy it, send fire everywhere, break the earth, etc. That suggests that the earth may possibly be a) new, something just discovered or b) something which elves were as familiar with as the spirit world. Also, note again, the close and co-operative relationship between elves & spirits.

 

Anyway, this goes a long way of explaining Solas' dialogue in the main game. All New, Faded For Her... it gets sadder. I understand why he considers spirits so definitely as equals now.

Sorry.  That sounded way more defensive than I meant.  I just see a lot of love in the fandom for Garrett at the expense of Marian (particularly when paired with Fenris, my canon romance) so I tend to like to stress that my Hawke is a woman.

 

For the Keep: Log in using your Origin account and select Tapestry.  You'll see a bunch of choices.  Select the ones you made in game and then click on the little world symbol at the top right of the page, then click 'export to Inquisition'.  Make sure you're logged in and online when you start your game and you'll get the option to load a custom worldstate when you start a new game.

But Hawke is a total badass. Out of the combination of people you could send to the fade, she definitely is the most likely to brave it through. I refuse to believe she'd give up on her friends, her LI, her remaining family so easily.

Thought: if the veil does come down, will we meet Hawke again? I mean, that'd be horribly bittersweet - Hawke is alive, but the world is dead now and Kirkwall has been razed to the ground.
