I really need to find a new hobby. Hours of logged game play because I know there are weeks of offline game play. I didn't want to patch my game after patch 8 I think because I was tired of playing without mods. This is since October of last year, I was late jumping on the Dragon Age wagon.

DAO: 523 hrs (and sadly I only completed the game twice)

DAII:  132 hrs (ouch, can I just say this tragedy was hard to really enjoy, that and the completely different combat system. Love Fenris, and Carver and Varric but the story is frustrating.)

DAI :  708 hrs (plus who knows how many hours that aren't recorded? So far I've completed the game twice and deleted at least a dozen starts. I get to the Winter Palace and go nope not ready to do that. And start a new game.)

With the right gear and skills, Blackwall never dies. Well, maybe not never, but he's reliable.

I had Blackwall with a Berserker shield but also plenty of guard building stuff (armour and abilities).  Does fantastic damage and is pretty durable.  This was on Nightmare, too.

@Egg Crusher: if you want to do a playthrough where you annoy Solas then try using the Fair Weather Friends trial.  It doubles the amount of negative approval in the game - should make it easier to get him to max (that's what my Cadash is going to use.  She's going to annoy SO MANY people).

I tried to tell myself I'd romance Cullen this one time. But nope. I was too weak. Right when he starts talking about the wonders of the fade i'm already too far gone.

I would make a human. That's what I had to do to romance Cullen. It forces you to keep off Solas.

One thing that does bother me though is ... what's wrong with human chicks?? As a human (lol obviously) female myself, I like to think that I'm attractive (kinda). It's not like elves are that much different. I mean I get that his people are the ancient elves blah blah but ... it just bothers me sometimes. We're not super short and we don't have crazy horns or are twice his size. Humans are physically just like elves, just more curvy/robust, especially the females.

What's wrong with us?? Are we not "fadey" enough??

Pretty much.

Also post-Trespasser I really can't see the Solasmance working for non-elves.  I couldn't see it working with non-elves before Trespasser, but the events of the DLC just confirmed it for me.

I kind of like having the most plot relevant romance being for female elves only.  It makes a change from the usual Straight Male Hero romances.

Just when I told myself 'time to move on from DAI and play other video games', they have added trials lol Well, now I have to do another playthrough to get all new achievements! Never had a playthrough where Solas was angry at me, I feel like this would be the right time to do this. I want to see his pissed off dialogue tree.

 I'm also scared... I don't want him to be pissed off at me...

Personally, I interpreted that line

Spoiler

Which the more I look at it, should be alternately titled;

"Anders, Solas and Cole rushing to the stage to perform "Yellow Submarine", as part of their Beatles tribute act..."

;)

Would actually watch a Beatles tribute band with Anders, Solas, and Cole as members (I suppose they can wrangle Ringo Starr in for lols). I have no idea who'd play whom but I'd definitely be up for that.

Blackwall perhaps as Ringo, I could definitely see Blackwall as a drummer? Not sure who John, Paul and George would best be played by... although Cole has to be Pete Best, the fifth (former) member of the Beatles that everyone forgets.

;)  :P

I dont know if it's Dragon Age or what but I have been having some very weird dreams. They are kind of nightmares and they are all modern, so not actual DA dreams, and all involve me running from criminals who want to hurt me. Lol.

Im tired.

I had this one dream where I was dying my hair with a beauty spirit and she was making my hair look so fabulous that I looked like an elf princess on steroids. Then Solas walked over, and I swooshed my hair in his face saying "jealous? ;) " He looked at me with a blank face, shook his head sadly, and walked away. Personally, I think it was because he wished he had hair as fabulous as mine o;

Sometimes I wish I was more sexually driven so I could have cool sexy dreams, instead of just being pals with everyone. I've never had one dream with Solas that was really interesting at all. He's just my buddy, or there in the background judging me.

stupid Solas. just kiss me already  <_<

I don't have the time to game right now, but I'm planning my "p*ss solas off Lavellan solasmance" playthrough.

It's probably going to be nightmare and completionest. Because of this, I want the best team for a solasmance and also survivability (cause i'm a casual player and don't want to cry too hard trying to do Descent on nightmare. Hell, I say. Hell.)

I have no idea what to do for the team though. I want to make a rift mage, and so ,because I'll be taking Solas along (duh), I have to have a rogue and a warrior for my other two.

Opinions on the best team for a solasmance? (and also specifically on mine because ... i'm not sure yet =3=)

Hell you say??

!! Warning !!

Incoming rant

I wasn't prepared for the Alpha Emissary so I had no dispel equipped and I had fire weapons.

I had mobs over me at all times and had Bull take care of them, I ran out of potions (including my bees and healing mist :()

After an HOUR into the Alpha Emissary I was certain I was doomed, I did the Descent before ToM and didn't want to give up on the Nightmare achievement...

At some point Blackwall & Iron Bull died (Iron Bull is squishy even with Sword & Shield, I just already took Cass everywhere in the previous two PTs and wanted Bull, so much regret) several times, Solas revived, several times..

This is after 15 minutes:

This is after another 45 minutes:

This is after another twenty minutes:

Spoiler
Because that's how long it takes to rid of its' barrier with fire weapons and no dispel

And then I gave it one last desperate push (I only had 1 regeneration potion per mage and nothing else)
I revived Bull & Blackwall, had Solas & Lavellan take regeneration potions (with AoE), had my warriors stand between them while casting barrier all of the time and my warriors taunted the emissary for guard, and then a full on attack

Spoiler

And after a total of two hours!
Spoiler
(Lavellan accidentally fell off the ledge while trying to loot the remains of the devil)

After that ordeal it took me 5 minutes to take down the Titan, 3 minutes to take down Corypheus and I was like "IF ANYONE WERE TO BECOME GOD IS THIS EMISSARY, THE GREATEST THREAT EVER TO FALL ON THEDAS"

I think I cried midway  :crying:

Edit: also, you asked advice on team.
Go with Solas, Cassandra & Blackwall.
Yes, it's a bit annoying not to have a rogue, but locked doors can be returned to (and from my experience usually don't hold interesting things).
Locked doors that don't need deft hands daft mind can be opened with Stone Fist or Shield Bash.

How do you do these trials? I know about them, but not really how to do them =3=

I've always assumed you just tick them on a keep going. You can toggle them on and off, should you wish to do so. :) but there's probably some srcret trick I'm missing.

If you look under the options menu, where graphics/gameplay/display/audio etc. options are, there should be a new sub-menu called Trials. There's a list of gameplay restrictions which you can tick in order to make your game more difficult.

Doing certain activities under those restrictions results in an achievement. I'd check your list of achievements - e.g. there's one which challenges you to get to skyhold before level 5, and to do so you need the restriction which cuts your xp in half.

Sorry, but yeah, just really, REALLY bad luck to have the worst weapons for that guy. I  think my group got him to half health really quickly and then Cole nearly one-shotted him (I'm a weirdo who gave Cole a bow).

That emissary took me at least an hour. it was horrible. dispel is practically useless for the entire game until you get to this boss. cory took me five minutes and samson took me even shorter. Descent could honestly prevent me from ever playing the game on nightmare.

Augh, the memory of that fight still makes me shudder. The only way I was able to defeat that bitch, was to run to the opposite side of the room so my fallen companions would wake up and I could resume fighting. They'd die in 2 minutes and I'd have to repeat.

If it's still relevant I edited my original post with suggestion for teammate for nightmare :)

Oh god, I was planning on doing that if my plan of two regeneration potions wouldn't have worked, thought about going to hunt a hidden cache of potions as well.

WHY WAS THAT SO HARD.

I think I'm official on Blackwall, but because I've already played the heck out of Cassandra, I think I'm going to go with Varric, who can have a good build if you help him a lot in fights.

Honestly, I just want to hear people disagree with Solas, while not getting my butt kicked. Varric and Blackwall seem good for that XD

Regarding Solavellan songs, for me, personally, especially after Trespasser, it is this.

And I am not a pop music person. But it's just so fitting.

Hello Solas thread!! I'm a long time lurker, but I was hoping someone could help me out. And hopefully it's not considered off topic; I mean it's kind of Solas related? And I like the lore hounds in this thread. You guys have some great stuff!

I'll put it under a spoiler tag since it kind of involves information revealed by Trespasser.

Spoiler

And sorry if this has already been brought up and/or repeated! It's a big thread...

Hello :)

It might be relevant, who knows? We know that DA has been planned very well indeed (various things hint at Flemeth being Mythal back in DAO, for example). I don't have a list of her prophecies or anything, but I do like the 'prison is breached' one - could be Cory, could mean something beyond that. 'The Shadow will consume us all?' Doesn't apply exactly to Cory, I don't think :) Certainly Mike Laidlaw said there is relevance, but to what we don't know.

There are certainly lines throughout the games that are interesting. Sandal's one in DA2 obviously; also Morrigan's 'Change sets people free' at the end of Witch Hunt. I love a bit of foreshadowing, it suggests really good world-building. So much  <3 to the writers for details like that.

If you have the Trial that gives enemies special abilities, then you will most definitely finding yourself in dire need to mages with dispel or someone who can keep them knocked down.
