iirc In Mark of the Assassin Fenris tells Merrill there will be a Arlathvhen in Halamshiral 'soon' but thats the only detail I can recall on the timing of next or most recent arlathvhen

 

Keepers and other leaders and elders of a clan are referenced to meet. I think First would either go or stay behind to mind clan while Keeper's away.

 

I thought the clans themselves would go tho. We know Dalish trade people between clans a lot more than we originally thought i.e. it is not just mages. I suspect much of this to occur at Arlathvhen.

 

Also a hahren'al is a gathering of hahrens during arlathvhen. why a word for this if only keepers go? and why a separate word for gathering.. at.. a gathering..

 

I also think it's highly likely an emergency arlathvhen might be called in times of great need e.g. EVERYTHING WE EVER KNEW IS WRONG AND ALSO THE DREAD WOLF IS HERE

Is it referenced anywhere when the last Arlathvhen took place? I know it's usually just Keepers and probably First that go right?

 

Given recent events though.....is it possible an emergency Arlathvhen was called and all elves are invited?

Even if Arlathvhen was indeed happening, the elves are so divided, it seems almost an impossibility to gather them all in one place... Which is why the last epilogue cards are so curious. And worrisome.

Incoming rant

 

I wasn't prepared for the Alpha Emissary so I had no dispel equipped and I had fire weapons.

I had mobs over me at all times and had Bull take care of them, I ran out of potions (including my bees and healing mist )

After an HOUR into the Alpha Emissary I was certain I was doomed, I did the Descent before ToM and didn't want to give up on the Nightmare achievement...

At some point Blackwall & Iron Bull died (Iron Bull is squishy even with Sword & Shield, I just already took Cass everywhere in the previous two PTs and wanted Bull, so much regret) several times, Solas revived, several times..

 

This is after 15 minutes:

Because that's how long it takes to rid of its' barrier with fire weapons and no dispel

 

And then I gave it one last desperate push (I only had 1 regeneration potion per mage and nothing else)

I revived Bull & Blackwall, had Solas & Lavellan take regeneration potions (with AoE), had my warriors stand between them while casting barrier all of the time and my warriors taunted the emissary for guard, and then a full on attack

(Lavellan accidentally fell off the ledge while trying to loot the remains of the devil)

 

After that ordeal it took me 5 minutes to take down the Titan, 3 minutes to take down Corypheus and I was like "IF ANYONE WERE TO BECOME GOD IS THIS EMISSARY, THE GREATEST THREAT EVER TO FALL ON THEDAS"

 

I think I cried midway 

 

Edit: also, you asked advice on team.

Go with Solas, Cassandra & Blackwall.

Yes, it's a bit annoying not to have a rogue, but locked doors can be returned to (and from my experience usually don't hold interesting things).

Locked doors that don't need deft hands daft mind can be opened with Stone Fist or Shield Bash.

 

Hey I had the same situation!  I was luckily using a cold staff, but mostly fire spells ><  It fell through an effing HOLE IN THE FLOOR.  Everyone dead but me.  Eventually I fade stepped over to resurrect IB, and some effing luck he knocked it dead.  I was so frustrated I was almost in tears.  My last save was too far back, I had already been fighting the thing almost 30 mins.  Yeah, totally feel your pain. 

 

This is from when I figured out finally where it was.  My party was standing against a wall and wouldn't fight anything else and I didn't know wtf was going on.  I had sent IB down first to I dunno try and get it outta there, but he died ><

I did the DLC post game, no Solas.  Next time I am doing it before the end of the game, lol.  Dorian is amazeballs and I love him.  But for some reason Solas makes a difference.

 Quoting you since you'r the last person to mention it, but I do want to clarify that Arlathven is when ALL clans and their members gather to meet, not just Keepers and Firsts.  The actual place of meeting is likely pre-decided at the end of each Arlathven, rather than sending out messenger birds or using whatever the Dalish equivalent of sending crystals are.

Given that even loads of city elves are leaving, not just Dalish, it's likely not an Arlathven or even an "emergency" one, especially since most Dalish clans don't actually keep in contact or know where another is by choice.
