Specifically:
 
Two shadowed spheres among stars, an eclipse as Fen'Harel stirred.
 
I've quoted that here a few times now because I want to know if anyone else has any idea to what "shadowed spheres among stars" are. The two moons that orbit Thedas? Is that why one has gone missing..

If it isn't metaphor, a solar eclipse sort of looks like two spheres to me. One behind, one in front. Although the one behind isn't exactly shadowed, but surrounded by shadow instead. And you don't usually see the stars with a Solar one. Meanwhile, Lunar eclipses don't look as much like a shadowed sphere to me at all. More like a big ol' zit in the sky. Hah. I'd make such a good astrologist.

If it is metaphor, it might be referring to the ancient elf battery/anchor orbs. There's the one we know of, which left a permanent scar in the sky. The other?

I saw people still talking about Solas as spirit (I think it's an idea that existed for a long time, if I recall correctly) and

I'm not sure if this was mentioned but when I was doing the DLC I found a codex in the Shattered Library:

 

The pages of this book—memory?—are instructions on how to reach the deepest parts of the Fade, realms so far removed they're unmarked by Dreamers:

 

"Epiphany requires a mind smooth as mirror glass, still as stone. Put aside ten years for practice, and the next hundred for searching. What others have learned will ease your journey. Those who never manifested outside the Fade will find it easier to find its stillest roots, but it is rare the compulsion overtakes our brethren of the air."

 

 

So this talks about how one can reach the deepest parts of the Fade, "brethren of the air" refers to spirits, who find it easier to to find its' stillness.

The use of the word "brethren" in conjunction with the line "never manifested outside the Fade" makes me believe that all originate in spirits (save for Titans, perhaps the spirits ruled the Fade while the Titans ruled the unchanging world) and perhaps complex spirits made themselves bodies (maybe from the Titans or just from earth like in Genesis 1 (called בראשית, there are two versions of the creation of man, chapter 1 and chapter 2, in chapter 1 [which I prefer because it depicts men and women as equals] it says in the 24th verse: "And God said: 'Let the earth bring forth the living creature after its kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after its kind.' And it was so.", in Hebrew the verse is "וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים, תּוֹצֵא הָאָרֶץ נֶפֶשׁ חַיָּה לְמִינָהּ, בְּהֵמָה וָרֶמֶשׂ וְחַיְתוֹ-אֶרֶץ, לְמִינָהּ; וַיְהִי-כֵן.", just because it's interesting to say, in Hebrew we have the words נפש חיה [which can be seen in the original verse] which means "living soul")...

 

So what if

The created bodies ("they made bodies from earth") were elves instead of dwarves* ("I just don't know why your people want to look like that"**) and consisted of the Evanuris, who were first of their kind, afterwards whenever a body was created in what we know as the traditional way -cough- then it is created using a spirit or a willing spirit who wants to manifest into a physical body (which perhaps could explain their strong intrigue with the physical word and why they are compelled to posses mages since they had the ability before), so in that case even unborn spirits are considered brethren. The spirit of one person allowed them to visit the Fade in their dreams and a stronger connection to the spirit allowed them to practice varying degrees of magic.

Seeing Solas was fascinated by the Fade (from what he tells us) his ethereal and earthly bodies were strongly connected, something which allowed him to be as powerful as an Evanuri, so that sentence that goes around that "he did not want a body, but she asked him to come. He left a scar when he burned her off his face" if it is indeed about Solas (it doesn't have to be, it could be another elf or even a vague reference we didn't get [there are a lot of ME references in what he says]) could really fit with what midnight tea (I think? correct me if I'm wrong) said about him not being interested in his body, since he loved the Fade too much.

 

Perhaps his great strength was what brought Mythal to him, she asked for his help he was a slave dedicated to her, it wouldn't have been too off for him to pose as a guardian for her, please notice that his statue has runes:

Though they are more similar to Sylaise's vallaslin, it could still be a hint. Who knows when he removed the vallaslin from his face, perhaps it happened after Mythal was killed, I'm pretty sure it took a while for him to put on the Veil, in the meanwhile he could've started a revolt, started freeing slaves, perhaps his vallaslin was the first to be removed (that's why it left a scar, inexperience). You can't even be sure of when he received the title Fen'Harel. This makes more sense to me since I can't see the Evanuris allowing statues of Fen'Harel in their shrines and temples otherwise, I think he had another role at some point.

In the deep roads his statues stand as guardians, and not in a place of honor like Mythal's, it  states so explicitly, I don't think Mythal's first goal in recruiting him was to free him and make him smuggle elven slaves.

 

* I speculated before the elves created dwarves/Titans because some of the line that Cole says: "their ancient shapers were mountains drawn of all their wills, walking their memories into valley's of the world" & the line about "they made bodies from earth, and the earth was afraid" but now I'm not so certain, especially because the elves mined the Titans, why would they need to do so to their own creation? I think that perhaps the dwarves were born out of the Titans, created by them, perhaps to help them, the codex old elven writings describes the workers of the Titans to be witless and soulless perhaps out of speciesism, since they weren't the manifestation of a spirit, to them they are soulless.

So my nightmare play-through is very fun. I have three weeks worth of SYTYCD, two weeks worth of ANTM, two weeks worth of Project Runway, and a Walt Disney biography that I'm basically ignoring to replay this stupid game I've already beat like five times. What is wrong with me???

It takes a Spirit to know that Spirit sex is not that simple. Notice how he did not answer Blackwall's question definitely. Perhaps when Andruil tied him down and wanted to have sex with him for a year, she was doing it to spirit Solas using her Vallaslin. Mythal then rescued him and Solas burned off Andruil's Vallaslin. 

 

Now Cole's line about "coming but not wanting to..." in Trespasser takes on a whole new meaning.

 

As for Solas at a young age, perhaps Spirits in ancient Elvhenan formed little towns ? Or the more likely explanation is that Solas was a spirit of Wisdom living among Elves in a small village. He was a very talented Spirit of Wisdom since like mortals, not all spirits are equal.

 

Andruil called him to her to...use him...In doing so changed him from Spirit of Wisdom to an ancient Elf of Pride...& Mythal then rescued him ?

We also see mention of spheres in this codex:

 

"In this place we prepare to hunt the pillars of the earth. Their workers scurry, witless, soulless. This death will be a mercy. We will make the earth blossom with their passing."

For one moment there is a vivid image of two overlapping spheres; unknown flowers bloom inside their centers. Then it fades.

 

In trespasser there's a.. thing.

 

So maybe it's not astrological, but it did say an "eclipse". If Thedas has two moons and one is smaller, they could make a double lunar eclipse right? Where are our science people!? .

Speaking of the dichotomy of Solas as a young man in his village and Solas as spirit taking shape, I wonder something. If truly elves came from spirit and the difference between them is porous, could the opposite also happen? Could Solas have been born a physical elf, but through his fascination with exploring the Fade (whatever it meant before the veil), he just... abandoned physical form for a while? He wasn't interested in a body so he just decided to let go of his physical shape, until "she" convinced him of taking physical form (by vallasin, which wouldn't allow him to change shape at will anymore?). Would that even be possible?

 

We know from the forbidden ones' codex entry is the library :

 

That the forbidden ones had "familiarity with shape" and also could be bound. Could Solas' nature be similar? Spirit to elves to spirit, depending on the person's whim... unless they are slaves. Then they are bound to their gods and to the physical. These "physical only" elves could be the ancestors of the modern elves, and could have survived the veil better than their higher-ranked brethren whose nature was more spirity.

 

Do I even make sense? I hope someone can make sense of my musing...

I think there's something else in the void- something that the Evanuris wanted to get at- something that created the blight- the ultimate big bad evil. There's something down there, slowly infecting the Lyrium, the Titans, he doesn't want the old gods woken up and killed- maybe they were originally put there to guard something....would make sense if whatever Andruil encountered drove her crazy. Maybe it's something they thought could be used as a weapon?

Is Solas going to fail only for some even older person to say "you were supposed to die! Now my plans to restore the ancient ways have been thrown into chaos!"? Just this giant conga line of disgruntled old people being manipulated by even more disgruntled, even older people?

the Blight.

 

I have a theory that the way the Evanuris were going to "destroy the whole world" was via Blight.  Perhaps Blight was what they used to murder Mythal?  And that also this is the reason Solas believes he absolutely must carry on with his plan.  That somehow this is all really about the Blight.  Maybe bringing all the magic back is the only way to stop it?  I'm pretty sure that Solas is right that the Wardens are only buying us time.  Blight is one of the main themes of the world, after all.

 

Edit to add:  Also, breaking the Veil was what released the Blight, no?  Solas imprisoned the Evanuris using the Veil.  The Magisters rip open the Veil to enter the Fade physically, and bring back the Blight.  It all seems to fit.

So much for going one day without watching it.

 

 

My Niamh was the angry sort. She went for the anger fist during the break up which meant I got the whole 'You were right to be angry' instead of 'what we had was real' line at the end of the main game.

 

But I didn't go for angry in Trespasser. I had her become a little bit more soft again in the two years and so she was a mix of being nice and then being mad   my short tempered munchkin

I went with the thumbs up response. In that moment, with everything she had discovered, it was less 'YOU LIED' and more 'WHAT EVEN IS ELVEN HISTORY'. 

All those months of saying that my Lavellan would be mad when they finally caught up with Solas and, in the end, I was all talk. When it came down to it, my gut instinct just went 'nope'. Niamh went positive, she wanted to believe in her messy love. Tristan went sad face, feeling sorry for his poor friend.

 

I blame that bloody music. That bloody ALL THE EMOTION music. As soon as that kicked in all previous anger/snark headcanons for how that meeting would go down just died.   Suddenly my Inquisitors became soft and fuzzy. Feelings. All the feelings.
