To this day I maintain it was the smirk that sold me on the character. Long before we knew who he was. Even before we saw anything of substance. That smirk.

He might have been more fun to deal with that way, but I personally think I would have disliked him--and in any case we've got Varric to be our smirky liar. The developers wanted to make it so we could like Solas, because of spoilery reasons.

It was completely ridiculous that they put the trellis right by the fountain. I'm wondering if they had it more hidden in earlier versions and the playtesters had trouble finding it or something. It's got to be some sort of level design element, like how far apart things are and the timer.
Just gonna say I cried when I found out I couldn't wear a pretty masquerade dress or something similar to the ball. Man, I looked forward to a ball in Dragon Age for sooo long and then... oh, you're going to look like everyone else now in the Inquisition lolz. **** that. I wanted some sweet Elven formal wear. Can you imagine Solas walking out all decked out and Dorian and Viv are like, "...... we take back the hobo comments."
Well, i still think Solas made the hobo look daaaamn fine, but whatevers.

I always imagined Dorian running interference, being vaguely distracting or something or other.
At the time, I was disappointed we didn't get a dress or some option of clothing for the ball. But, really, as others pointed out, the military uniform made sense. Sometimes I feel like the only person who doesn't hate it. Yeah, the colors could have been better (and since the Inquisition's color is orange, maybe it could have been a neutral color or black or white with an orange sash?), but it was practical.
The real shame is that you couldn't dress in something pretty at least for the dance.
Also it would have been fun to have Solas comment on your pretty clothing. But that's just my vanity speaking.

First playthrough I brought Cassandra, Cole, and Solas. Second playthrough it was Cassandra, Varric, and Solas. Cole hated the ball, so I didn't want to take him back there. Cassandra hated it, too, but I trust her more than Blackwall. Bull would probably break stuff.

Everyone in the courtyard were to drunk to notice? When I first played that section I spent a lot of time running around, wondering what exactly I was suppose to be doing and then bam, Lavellan decided it was time to climb the trellis. She was so sick of Orlesians that she didn't care if she got disapproval just as long she could get away from them.

The irony is that if you use the Dalish banner, you DO put a white flag up... even if you're not declaring surrender.
Maybe that's why the Tevinter Imperium took over. They saw Dalish banners and mistook it for surrender.

I really dislike political drama, and fake prissy people annoy the hell out of me. I basically just wanted to punch all the npc's out, grab Briala, make her leader, and be done with it.
The only interesting part was spying on conversations. that was cool. and solas and his "heady sex and intrigue" comments. and the little dance at the end. all the rest just p*ssed me off to no end.
(also I hate the mystery genre in any format, so that could also be why)
