I think about it from Solas' perspective, wanting to believe the modern life of Thedas is valuable/real enough to save, and the whole inner struggle he has morally. And then the breath of life could be Lavellan.

Anyway... the more I think about it, the more I have to laugh that in Solavellan playtghrough Solas got effectively... twitterpated.

 

Heh heh heh, I can even imagine him thinking as he goes out into the world: "Well, if you want something done right, you got to do it yourself! Fortunately my resolve is impenetrable. I will not fall to fake charms of this bleak world *pouts*"

re: the outfit worn at Halamshiral, I still think the nutcracker outfit looks terrible. Maybe if the color scheme were different I'd be okay but what we got was just.... No...

 

Like Sable, I just wanted my Lavellan to look like a pretty princess FOR ONCE! 

 

Also, I've said before, the Inquisitor's outfit for the ball doesn't necessarily need to be a dress. Just... pretty.

^ I'd be down with my Lavellan wearing this. Maybe I'd alter the design a bit and remove the little skirt/cloak thing so it wouldn't get snagged while climbing the trellis.

yeah mine would literally be like "what are this" lol she's spent her entire life with dirty barefeet living meal to meal on the move in wagons hunting fighting wandering as part of a hunter-gatherer nomadic society persecuted by humans getting up before dawn to fish wearing hunting leathers and ironbark plate

I've grown in central Europe, in a place very comparable to Emerald Graves. Harsh winters, beautiful nature, no Freemen however I've moved several years ago with my husband back to his native country, in Middle East. My view is of that Hissing Wastes, mostly, just a bit more ... boring. No winter here. No snow, no rain, either. Sandstorms, sand, much bleacher than in game, though. It's a very depressing place to live in, for me. But I have my family, and they make it easier. I made friends, and I learned to accept it. We're working on a plan that by the time our children are out of house, we'll have a house somewhere else, safe (stupid ISIS... bring on Solas, at least he means remotely well, unlike those bastards), and much greener - and with actual seasons. Scotland is my dream, but anything will do.

The point of my rant is, you can do it. I believe in you! I am thinking of you and can relate to the difficulty (I skipped 3 countries since the age of 20, and I am 30 now.) of moving. But you have him, and he's your constant, so treasure it. Try to look at it positively. Plus, well. Dragon Age is here for you

Just started In Hushed Whispers. My husband's done the Templar line, first time I saw it. He hates Solas and refuses to take him in a party, although I keep on telling him he's got probably most relevant bits to say. Oh well. The better the surprise, I suppose.

 

I am having fun with Flycam a bit. Also, a question for you who are lore-savvy. When I was doing the chantry bit in Redcliff, one of the windows in the church has an elf holding a key. Why so?

and people seem to be split about Solas which I think it's a success for Bioware. Most people think Solas is a straight up villain, one you can relate to because he was your companion but still someone who is willing to sacrifice the world for a civilization that as far as we know was flawed.

 

Others, which might include some of us here, understand Solas from the perspective of having experienced a side of him than none of the non-romance Inquisitors had. While I don't consider Solas a villain, his situation is way too complicated for that, I still disagree entirely with his way of thinking. It's hard to defend his actions when I am against them but I don't want to kill him. Is that even possible? His "kind" are hard to friggin' kill anyway.

 

What is he planning to do exactly? Bringing down the Veil. What are the consequences of that? Is the chaos that will bring kill people or will the action itself kill them?

 

I'm sometimes at work (lol) wondering exactly how he thinks he will restore his "people" and how are his actions going to kill the rest of Thedas.

But I agree that the best characters are the ones that inspire diverging opinions and feelings.  Hell, I'm one person, and I have about six conflicting opinions on Solas, which might change based on time of day, music, and where I am in the hellspiral

 

Personal villains IMO make for some of the most powerful storylines, and after 100+ hours with him, as both a friend and a romance partner, it is VERY personal for both of my Inquisitors.  I dragged him around the Western Approach a bit with Adaar, and I was forced to concede that I miss the stupid egghead.  His banters with the others.  His random comments on the consistency of the Fade.  Even his stupid artifact quest.

So, I remember walking around skyhold before playing Trespasser and hearing a strange whooshing noise. I discounted it as a glitch. lol NOPE

 

So, at the Winter Palace during the DLC I heard the swooshing noises again as I walked around, and then I figured out what it was. They were spies (Solas spies most likely since they aren't qunari and have the same body shape) watching the inquisitor. Here's a video where one shows up. Start watching at 24:56.

 

 

 

I'm fairly sure these are Solas spies, considering the same purple magic used by the individual is all over the Fen'Harel Sanctuary. This means he was spying on you before the events of Trespasser, as they show up around Skyhold too, I believe right when you load your game after installing the DlC. They're hard to find however, but I'm fairly sure they have spawning sites. One is in the hall to the "meeting room" or whatever at skyhold.
