I know Weekes already mentioned on a previous tweet that we may get closure for Solavellan but just thought I'd share this as well.

the amount of hope this gives me really is astonishing. shows how much i'm obsessed -3-

 

but really, this one tweet does make me tons more optimistic. it's very important to take Weeke's statements seriously. He's the author of Solas, loves DA fans, and because he knows Solas has a whole fangirl army, he wouldn't say things like this just to mess with us. 

 

There must be some bright side to this whole mess in his mind, and that is enough hope for me, since he is the author.

Catching up on the last few pages or so... and all this debate over a character in a book I haven't read. I dunno what to think. For me, Felassan is just a name under lots and lots of spoiler tags right now. It's a little frustrating I guess. I hate to think that reading an outside book is required to grasp what's going on. Especially since my books-to-read backlog is nearly as long as my games-to-play one.

But, maybe it isn't required. Maybe I just have the luxury of hindsight right now, but I can't imagine anything that happens in those books to do anything other than reinforce what I already believe. Solas has more or less told us everything. He's told us...

He is the reason there are tranquil. That there are mortal elves. That there are mages and mundane. Every mage/templar conflict that has ever happened has happened because of what he did. He is at the very heart of the calamity that changed the world forever, forever ago. He did it to prevent something he felt was even worse.

If you know all that, and can still see the good in him, how can the death of one elf change it all?

I think it's just another mirror that this whole game has been trying to show us - the them and us thing. The Qunari on the dreadnaught vs the chargers. The red lyrium poisoned world of the mage future vs the world we know. All the elves that perished when the world was ripped asunder, every elf now that dies of old age, they're them. It's easier to look past them and love Solas. If you grew attached to Felassan, he became an us. He makes it harder.

Except, Cole said he was a friend. He was already an us to Solas. To me that says Solas is capable of a no-compromise for the greater good attitude that no character I could play can ever be. He thinks it is worth it. And because of that, nothing can get in the way. It will all be better in the end. It has to be. That must be what is going through his hairless head over and over. Or perhaps...

Perhaps that's the part of himself that he gnawed off to escape the trap. Temperance is the virtue that allows us to weigh self-interest against the greater good. It should never be all one, or all the other. If he sacrificed part of that virtue to escape the veil trap, then whatever he left behind has him placing what he believes is the greater good above every single other thing. Even friends. Even a Lavellan he loves. We matter to him, that's why he's so sad and hurting right now. But we also can't matter.

Maybe an inquisitor that he loves or respects became the missing part of his temperance. Maybe that's why we are the only ones who have any hope of stopping the utter end of our world without killing him. Really sorta makes one pity those that reinforced Solas' initial reaction to our world and got the Ugly Kid Joe version of Solas, and those who chose to stop Solas with a sword/bow/spell instead of a change of heart. I mean ya'll saw him blink and turn a whole Qunari to stone, right? Rawr.

Then again, I suppose we all still have to get to him first.

Out of likes, but want to like this so 

 

Cassandra hates it, but she's great there.

 

Her intro is one of my favorites.

 

Solas is just great at the ball.
 

 

I party for the ball is always based on the intros, so that's why Sera always ends up in the mix (because otherwise I would take Varric instead of her). Also Cass and Solas (because I need to have that dance!).

You can actually officially break up with him. The fact that that's an option implies the romance continues if you don't choose to break up with him. 

 

There is totally going to be heavy Solavellan in DA4 (which is gonna happen let's be real)

Well i like the outfit for the ball cuz it clearly says - we are The Inquisition and we will be treated like it , no matter our sex or race . So yeah ...

I said this before but, my first char was human noble made specially for Cullen ( i got to play unspoiled) AND then i heard - My name is Solas if there have to be introductions .... that was it Cullen didnt stand a chance after that, ofc took me half the game to find out i CANT romance Solas, so Cullen got his GF after all ( tho shes deep into Solas.. now i feel bad for the poor guy)   

About the Trespasser Solas

i fall in love with the nerd Solas , then i saw some other sides of him and i loved him even more, but after trespasser ..... i can imagine the New Solas being dominant and its totally doing it for me.

In my life i always had something for bad boys ( in my past do , my BF is kinda fluffy right now and i like it this way...or almost...) but i DA so far i got Alistair, Anders ( tho i was expecting Anders from awakening ... if i knew what he will do i may not go for him, then there was Fenris he somehow screamed bad boy and a hurt puppy at the same time and i was attracted to both his sides.... with Solas i always knew there is something more to him that i can see , some secret and this attracted me even more ( god if i only knew  ) , now that we saw his Bad boy said  i think i fall for him even more and i though thats not possible

Actually, he tells both romanced, befriended and enemy Inquisitor that the world MAY be destroyed. It's not 100% certain, just like we don't have 100% certainly what exactly he wants to accomplish, by what means and why exactly are other people in danger.

 

Also - I'm not making excuses: what I'm telling is that he doesn't necessarily wants to restore Elvenhan and predominantly focuses on un-Tranquilizing the world.

Have no 100% verified idea what he intends to do. He spoke about tearing the Veil with the orb and that it would cause chaos, but when questioned why this world must die for the elves to return he does no answer. He may have changed his plans.

But perhaps in a more metaphorical manner, perhaps in order to seal the Evanuris away he had to sacrifice part of himself, as in ignore his moral compass and just do it (with some consequences he did manage to predict, or perhaps just the fact he sent people to war) because the Evanuris were destorying the world. That could mess with someone's mind.

So, catching up with the thread, on the issue of formal armour - the only reason I didn't like the Inquisition's formal attire is because red doesn't suit my redheaded, rosy-cheeked quizzy. Much prefer the blue version now available in the wardrobe.

I quite like the idea of dress uniform (although I'm partial towards pretty dresses, I admit), but I'd quite like something more tailored and varied like the art NughtSymphoy posted a couple of pages back.

The changes are...subtle yet in a whole improved him a lot. Well, maybe not 'improve', I still love the old one, but I don't think anyone could call him ugly now?

Last few days I've been trying to play DAI as human rogue with Cullen romance. Keyword is trying, because I just can't concentrate to that. All I want is to recreate my Lavellan and start a new game in my canon world state. I guess this means that Trevelyan is used as a missing schematics collector and a trials trophy hunter.

 

I've also been reading The Masked Empire again and realised that Patrick Weekes is a good writer. Heck he may be one of my current favorites. He made Celene, Gaspard and Briala feel like a real people with all their flaws, at least to me. At one point of the book I couldn't decide who I disliked least. Also I'm liking the idea of Felassan being a tranquil. Maybe it's a fools hope, but he's too awesome to be really dead.

 

Now that my feelings about Trespasser have calmed down.

I'm more curious than ever to know about how Solas arc is going to continue and if my Lavellan can stay in the picture, all the better. I'm willing to trust Patrcik Weekes especially when someone here said that he wanted save Thane in ME3.

 

Now I've to find a pre-Trespasser save, visit BE and save my sliders.

Was he actually changed? like if I play only the base game would his face look the same as in Trespasser?

 

I never actually noticed a difference... but I guess his cheekbones and bottom lip aren't as crazy huge as before XD 

 

Did you find this out or is this official? I need to look this up o-o
