I am terribly angry today. This ******* was a total jerk to me this morning and now I'm sniping at everyone. I need this thread today to keep me grounded.

I'm not so sure anymore that the reunification of the Fade and the Waking World means everybody dies from some sort fundamental lack of compatibility with their new, magical environment. The Inquisitor and several distinctly non-magical companions (read: Varric) have been into the Fade physically. Solas makes a big deal about that, incidentally. I'm leaning towards Solas' "end of the world" comments meaning that people will be freaking out: fighting spirits/demons, fighting each other, not understanding what's safe/not safe in their new environment, etc.

I think it's important to remember what happens when a Tranquil becomes un-tranquiled.  Their magic is choatic, emotionally they are unhinged, and they can die. I imagine its going to be like that...on a much much larger scale. So like Siha said, survival of the fittest but even then the hardiest people may die from an errant spell.  The spirits think it's a bad plan. They know whats coming and Cole mentions they are retreating to the farthest reaches of the fade to avoid it.

Idk, my quizzy had Dirthamen's vallaslin - seeing the abandoned temple of Dirthamen, alongside the revelation they were slave markings, convinced her to take them off.

If she had Mythal's markings - which in retrospect, probably suit my Quizzy more, ten more years or so and she'd totally be the sort to mother people - then I think she would think twice. There's a beautiful irony there as much as anything else.

I'm glad too though - no secret blood magic hidden in vallaslin, thank god.

...not to reignite the paranoia, but the game wouldn't need the Keep to determine if the Inquisitor has vallaslin or not. All it needs is a cameo.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean.

If the character creator has been advanced somewhat, we may have a choice to recreate our inquisitor's face in the same way as we did Hawke's. They would be in a cameo role at that point. If having or not having vallaslin was a factor in the plot, then there would not be options to change it or remove it in the CC. If it isn't, then one would be able to paly around with it.

Thing is, if the save important feature has gone, then it'd have to be an option in the keep if it's plot important. Unless we're given a default face for our inquisitor - that would make a lot of people mad, especially after it was an option for Hawke, I think, so I doubt that'd be the case.

The keep changes and is constantly being worked on. I expect they will take care of it eventually if important. If not now, before the next game comes out. I expect the game will be able to be imported at this point. The reasons behind not importing it this time are moot now with last-gen safely out of the way.

Having a vallaslin would not be plot related, because the markings themselves probably aren't what allowed the evanuris to control their slaves.

The Keep works on the honor system just as much as the CC does. Disallow vallaslin removal in the CC for everyone except Solasmancers, and choosing to add/remove vallaslin is effectively the same as picking that option in the Keep.

Importing with DA has always been a bit buggy. From what I understand, the keep is a simple, clear process that lets them narrow down what options they want to use going forward. It also potentially carries through into DA5 and beyond, without suffering from progressive degrade. 

 

They might have the option to directly import- but since the keep is still being updated with titles, I'd say they still intend to use it.

I don't know if that's entirely accurate, since yes he knew it would eventually kill you, but he grew stronger throughout Inquisition and even entertained the idea of just staying with a romanced Lavellan, so he wouldn't have thought that if he couldn't keep it under control.

 

If you choose the option "How did you do that?" when he calms the Anchor in Trespasser, he says "The same way I kept it from killing you at Haven. Though I am stronger now." He did it before, even when 'weak'. Only now he doesn't even have to touch you. I don't really think this scenario works.

Another. Varric and Bianca have made their choices. They know what's involved. They remain, they clearly care. Bianca made a mistake, but it's a mistake.

Neither do I. Or Ameridan, really.

 

People we know for four minutes don't really click like that for me, generally. Abelas looks particularly....alien? feline? Like some sort of ghostly creature? He's like a shimmery gray-white and has yellow eyes and dark circles.

Mine had Mythal's. She removed hers.

 

Having Mythal's vallaslin kind of became a bit of an irony for her with her internal conflict over having chosen to follow her heart above the Dalish 'go make babies' imperative. Not that it has to be taken literally. She's also the eldest sibling and was actively involved with her people.

When I get around to making my Seramancing Lavellen, she'll definitely have the American voice So, that's three of us!

 

I kind of do what lots of others do. American voices for dwarves and qunari. Brit for humans and elves. I like Sumalee Montano's voice work but she's a bit...husky for elves, IMO. Not in a bad way but Lavellans are  a bit slight for the depth I think.

Headcanon times guys. What do you think will happen the next time Lavellan and Solas meet? What do they talk about? What's the context? What happens then?

I like to think that, in her bid to figure out what comes next in Solas' plan, Ellana gets herself in more trouble than she can take on herself. Since her friends all have their own things, she's down to traveling mostly alone and when she happens upon a group of Qunari/slaver/pick your poison, the fight isn't going in her favor. But, Solas has her watched, supposedly so he can know her plans but really because he also think she's being reckless. When he learn from his agent that she's in trouble, he goes in a towering rage. Next thing Ellana knows, the dread wolf is tearing down her enemies to rescue her from harm. There's some cuddling; she tries to get him to talk or even just stay longer. He gets convinced to spend the night after she says she doesn't want to be alone anymore. "This doesn't change anything, vhenan." "I know." Then, when she wakes in the morning, he's gone again.

Weekes (and the epilogue artist) are even more evil, when you analyse the artwork for the romanced slide;

Based on the body language of his wolf form, we see he has a bowed head, his tail is lowered and turned inwards towards bent legs.

 

From the wikipedia article of dog behaviour (which is basically the same as that of wolves for the most part), this suggests that Solas is experiencing apprehension, timidness and insecurity about what he's doing.

 

I hate you, I could've gone years without knowing that and I would've been just fine.

Now I'm just sad

American voice for my lavellan too! Shes incredibly tough and quite androgynous. The husky low pitch is perf. Love awrs voice but too soft and feminine for my hardass warrior.
