LOL. That just reminds me of the line you can give Nathaniel all the way back in DA:A.
Nate: I tried to kill you.
Warden-Commander: Some of my best friends have tried to kill me!
Nate: WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU

Volume 1 is where it's at as far as new information goes. Volume 2 has a little bit, but it's mostly a summarization of events from DAO to now. There's the dwarven ship captains from across the sea who come to trade goods and spices for large quantities of lyrium. They were a regular appearance up until 200 (I think) years ago, and are only just now returning after some "great cataclysm."
Qunari are said to have come from "across the sea" as well. The Executors? Also across the sea. The ancient Neromenian human tribes also came to Thedas from across the sea at the behest of Dumat. Out east AND out west, there are other continents and a lot of potential weirdness going on.

Also, the wisdom of Uncle Iroh to the guy who literally named himself Pride:
"Pride is not the opposite of shame, but its source. True humility is the only antidote to shame."
In fact, let's just have Uncle Iroh sit down with Solas over a nice game of Pai Sho. Everything will be fine after that.
Someone brought up Uncle Iroh, time to post this.
That... could be a disaster.
Iroh: Let us sit down with a game of Pai Sho and a nice cup of tea.
Solas: Tea? I detest the stuff.

Weekes was asked about this and said it's because he's hurting.
Because, you know, we didn't need our hearts intact and pumping blood to our vital organs. Go ahead, Weekes. Destroy them like so much tartare.
Yeah, it's like

Totally. The Fade isn't a regional Thedas thing, therefore it would make sense that the Veil acting as a "cup" to hold it would have to encompass the entire world. Presumably, the ancient elves had cities and temples in far flung places outside of Thedas (where else would that creepy set of codexes in Trespasser be from?.
That would be...actually really weird if the Veil was only present in Thedas, and not other continents. That would mean the Executors, dwarves, and maybe other ancient elves would have full connection to the Fade and all be potentially powerful mages. And such a disadvantage for Thedas, even with the might of the Imperium.

The good news is that Weekes' writing talent comes from the harvests of fresh fan tears.
Illyria I'd rather you fite me than give me cold shoulder.
I sent you a PM.
I was more like, literally WTH Leliana you suck.
Yeah, her spymastering could use some work.
In her defense though Fen'Harel was doing this long before her great great great great grandma was in diapers.

It's probably my conceitedness showing,
I really think that Bioware missed out the chance to have some betrayal quests. Call me old fashioned, but I miss the times when I'd have assassins trying to kill me.
I prefer these kind of assassin's

I'm actually really surprised that most people took Iron Bull at face value simply because he was super up front about being a spy. That's seriously a straight up psychological disarming move that is specifically meant to lower your guard. It's very savvy both as an agent tactic and a political tactic from the higher ups in the body of the Qun.

See - a Dalish elf and a mage is exactly the sort of person that should have assassins leaping out at them.
For that Zev pic - two seconds later he's tripped over something and fallen off a wall. His pointy hat has managed to accidently stab his target.
I have serious Bull feels after Trespasser.

Thanks Sable. Now I have more Feels.
Weekes was asked about this and said it's because he's hurting.
I don't understand the omg kerfuffle around this xD
Why is sadlooking character looking sad?
um like Because he's sad.
??? I ??? The extent of his hurt I thought was really evident in that scene.

That's because you're secretly Patrick Weekes. Of course it's obvious to you.

it must be very strange to see Solas without me-goggles... it sounds like a vast confusing world ![]()
if I manufacture such goggles will there be a market for them?

A more serious reply: Solas looks angry and bitter when talking to romanced!Lavellan than a friend, which caused some confusion from fans.
Because, you know, we didn't need our hearts intact and pumping blood to our vital organs. Go ahead, Weekes. Destroy them like so much tartare.
Spoiler
This is so true. I think deep down my Lavellan knew something was off with Solas, but let her feelings blind her. How else wouldn't she be suspicious about him never answering her questions about his past. It's because she didn't ask, because she knew something was off.

People were saying he looked more angry, to which I was like: Huh? He looks sad but in a stoic and resolved way. It was clear he was trying to steel himself through some serious feels.
Just look at main game Solas and how calm and collected he can look in the middle of what we know was a lot of turmoil.
Remember in the Mage quest when he says, "I am dying, but no matter?" He was very calm.
Just think how much he must be hurting if it clearly shows.
@Neverland
It's a little bit of conceit showing. You are a symbol as the Inquisitor. A powerful one, but still just a symbol despite the very real and immediate effect you have on the world. To a servant, you're essentially just the Maker with a face. To a solder who has never seen you, you're Andraste with a face. It's like saying, "how could anyone disobey the principal when he says we should do our best in school?"
I thought he looked like a deeply sad man who was in pain but trying to be distant in order to steel himself and hide his feelings. & you can clearly hear how sad he is in his voice
so I'll start making these goggles now ok then ![]()

Yup. One heart tartare, coming right up.
Between the Bull feels and the Solas feels and WEEEEEEEKES, I think it's blanket fort time.

Anyone see this yet?
@PatrickWeekes Greetings from Russia! Wanted to ask - is Solas masochist, or a sadist when it comes to..wel, err, relationship with Inky?
@FureaLiu Hm. Not sure. I hadn't thought of him like that. He could be if both sides wanted it, I suppose. ![]()
