I can't write smut. I think part of it is being willing to be really vulnerable with your sexual fantasies and such, and have really wild, tittilating ones. I barely even try, since in my headcanon Solas is a gentle lover, who takes his sweet time with every lace and buckle and regards Lavellan's every curve with so much awe, as if she is the biggest wonder since a bake shop opened for the first time in Arlathan.

Hahaha, gracious, it was the boy who lived that first introduced me to fanfiction. I was 12 (I think) and I went on muggle.net (I think) and went looking through the fanfictions, I saw one on Hermione and Draco that peeked my interest and it happened to be a rape fantasy.... That kind of left a bad taste/stereotype with me about fanfiction for many years. Until Inquisition!

Found a cool tumblr thing. Apparently Solas' expression when he says the Tranquil line is another one of those that are different for a romanced Inquisitor.
You know, I kind of noticed this too. Look at his eyes and brows in a lot of these moments and they say everything. His face is often also tighter, sadder. And he makes a bit less eye contact.
They did an amazing job.
I just hope he doesn't go all ancient elf supremacist. I really can't stand people have superiority complexes like that, or are racist at all for that matter.
It might be more about familiarity than supremacy, at least if you bother to befriend/romance him.
Think about it in a RL sense that's much less extreme. If you were in a foreign country where the language, culture, and people were very different from you, and came across a bar full of people from your home country, you'd probably gravitate toward them. It's not that you think your people are inherently superior; you just prefer what's familiar.
Though to bring it back to Solas, he definitely is racist against humans and qunari, dismissive of the modern dwarves, and varies between pitying the modern elves and despairing that they aren't his people. So...class act in that department

Honestly this is where I'm most conflicted. Nobody in modern Thedas has a place in this "new world" he wants to create/bring back. Unfortunately, I think he's using those elf agents and they don't even know it. Well that was painful to write.

We did! And less smutty fics were limes, I think. I remember my first "lemon" when I didn't know what a lemon was. I was in elementary school. It was a Vageta and Bulma from DBZ. There was a shower. I was so shocked such a thing existed...but I've never quite been the same. Then Harry Potter came alone, and then Naruto introduced me to other things...
I think that if he sees something that he can do to ease their current situation he will do it. For example, if his agents witness some kind of bullshizzle like the DAO city elf origin, they'll step in and mess some stuff up to save the elves involved. His group might try to free some slaves or defend a Dalish or two from violent humans, but it'd just be another way to try and see that these people who are going to burn in the chaos do so in relative comfort.

The nice thing about Solas smut (or any other elf) is that you can always default to elvhen for the really filthy talk. At least for me, it makes writing it less weird, because then I'm typing nonsense instead of...whatever it translates into.

I think they just had the male VA record the lines. I think in an interview (the Nerd Appropriate one?) Patrick said he wrote it specifically for a female elf. Cullen was intended to be for sure, though.

Harder to describe something you've never seen or done. And I'll occasionally do research for fanfiction (I looked into real-life prosthetics when coming up with Lavellan's new hand), but I don't really feel obligated to research if it's just straight-up smut.

Yea, that's what I thought, but then again, bisexuality doesn't necessarily connect with personality and morality and stuff.
It would've made sense (in a way) if he was bi, but then again people are born as they are.

That's encouraging, thanks! Right now I have the skeletons of 1) my Tresspasser ending, which has some very light smut and 2) a Solas/Lavellan/Josephine smut, which I've been planning to do for forever. Maybe I'll prioritize them over the weekend once my Solas apologist hellspiral chapter is done.
I wouldn't even know how to go about researching smut, lol. I mean you can watch it, but that would not translate to truthful writing. And trying something just for the sake of writing is beyond me.
