It would be my luck that the character I sit around and think "Hey, my Lavellan could go be happy with that guy....seems nice....arcane warrior like her......" Would turn out to be a Solas agent.
Maybe I should run with that idea because it's rather juicy actually.........
.......you know your Lavellan is in a bad place relationship wise when traveling back in time a couple thousand years seems safer than hooking up with a modern day elf......
If you think about this...for people who cannon Lavellan moving on, if she does it with an elf...they might just be reporting that crap back to Solas....
No, this is good news! In Mark Darrah's original post on Sept. 17, 2012, they talk about how Inquisition has already been in development for two years- and they "ramped up" production 18 months ago. Which means they started working on it pretty tightly in March, 2011. Dragon Age 2 was released March 8, 2011.
It was also accidentally informally announced in May, 2011, on Twitter.
They've been talking about merging the fade and the 'mortal' world since day one. Morrigan and Flemeth have both been gearing up for the 'change' coming, Sandal also prophesied it. I will bet good money that in DA4 the veil drops, and elves gain some of their unique abilities back.
The part of Solas's plan that won't work is this bringing back new Arlathan, or anything like that.

I've been wondering...
Spoiler
So assuming the Veil drops in DA4, can we expect our PCs to gain new abilities? Like say, becoming a magic-wielding rogue or magic-wielding warrior or something? (Unless everyone just becomes mages and then that's it... )
I dunno, just a thought because that would be interesting.

I'd love to play a mage/rogue hybrid.

Possibly! Hard to say without knowing how much magic would be coming back. But they could give each class tree a sort of 'magic' flare. Some class abilities are already basically magic.
If it is a racial thing- for instance, only elves get magic back, then maybe they would include it as a bonus racial talent.
Same! I've played a mage/rogue hybrid in other games (Dragon's Dogma, The Elder Scrolls and Kingdoms of Amalur) so it would be neat if we got a chance to play as one in a DA series. Maybe DA4 would give us that chance? Maybe?
Tempest kind of provides that. Elemental, anyway.
I guess that was the reason why I chose that specialization.
For mechanics, yes. (And tempests are awesome!) But I'd love to headcanon a rogue who's also a mage mage. You can sneak and stab people and then do a blood magic spell all at once

I see the thread title has been upgraded to "NOT spoiler free zone..." ... so does that mean no more endless spoiler tags?
One would have to know the context to get this, so I think it's safe. But I will say....
Spoiler
you should never listen to Sebastian, Lavellan. Maybe this is why he left you.
...guess who replayed Trespasser... again? rofl
Spoiler
In my groggy, just-woke-up state, I reached over for my phone and browsed through this thread as I am wont to do before I actually get up for the day. And I saw this. And being that the picture was so tiny on my phone, I was so confused what Sebastian had to do with anything involving Trespasser, and wondering if this meant we'd have a "Maker, no!" variety of duckface. Thank you. Thanks so much.
True, but considering that the first installment in the series had a possibility of performing Dark Ritual and conceiving of a child (even going as far as convincing female Warden's lover to do the deed with Morrigan), it wouldn't be something that's without precedent in the series.
They've also not shied away from giving Morrigan an arc as mother to Kieran in OGB world-state (with it likely being a catalyst for her to change and accept Mythal's plan to be her inheritor, even if only for the sake of her son) and it seems to be something they plan to expand it further in the future - question is whether something similar would be repeated in case of Solavellan?
Like I said, I'm unconvinced, but I can't think of anything else as of now - and Solas being elfy and old doesn't really smack of "super story reason" for me, especially if we don't even know if the 'ancient of anciest elves' even really care for gender much. But who knows - I suppose we're yet to find out what exactly they mean by this.
We've probably moved on beyond this but I'm one who wouldn't mind a child. Let me add some disclaimer to that statement. I also headcannon that they haven't slept together yet. In my headcannon of possibilities for where the series goes I want a child to be an option. Assuming that there is a way to redeem him and they can set the world straight. If the world's still going to hell in a hand basket I'm out.
On a side note I figured that had to do with being an elf more than being female too.
I for one was glad that unlike DA2 where everyone could be into anyone that they had gating in this one. It made the game seem more realistic to me. 100% glad that art is emulating life.
Dragon Age is not Mass Effect. Shep is basically Space Jesus, capable of fixing centuries-old problems by virtue of personal awesome. Quizzy is not, not even with the Anchor. A good chunk of the RP tension in DA:I comes from the distance between the symbol of the Herald of Andraste, and the flesh-and-blood person behind it.
Quizzy is a powerfully influential person and potentially a very good person, deserving of the faith and trust of his/her followers. Still not going to change the world single-handed. IMO DA trends less toward the "great person" model of history, and more toward the combination of a bunch of little actions, slowly advancing the setting. Slowly, and often with setbacks.
A lot of fans forget that for pro-mage endings it's the backing of the Inquisition enforcing the change. Without the Inquisition, or with an Inquisiton that's no longer a world power, the change isn't going to stick.
Agreed!
Spoiler
That would make him have killed him sooooo much worst
Nothing is more powerful than hope *.*
“CHORONZON: I am a dire wolf, prey-stalking, lethal prowler.
MORPHEUS: I am a hunter, horse-mounted, wolf-stabbing.
CHORONZON: I am a horsefly, horse-stinging, hunter-throwing.
MORPHEUS: I am a spider, fly-consuming, eight legged.
CHORONZON: I am a snake, spider-devouring, posion-toothed.
MORPHEUS: I am an ox, snake-crushing, heavy-footed.
CHORONZON: I am an anthrax, butcher bacterium, warm-life destroying.
MORPHEUS: I am a world, space-floating, life-nurturing.
CHORONZON: I am a nova, all-exploding... planet-cremating.
MORPHEUS: I am the Universe -- all things encompassing, all life embracing.
CHORONZON: I am Anti-Life, the Beast of Judgement. I am the dark at the end of everything. The end of universes, gods, worlds... of everything. Sss. And what will you be then, Dreamlord?
Change is slow, but even with people pushing against it would be coming to Thedas soon.. That one fancy Orlaisian college accepts elves now, more and more humans see them as people, and more elves realize they deserve better too. With so many very powerful people that are pro elf, even the most racist, closeminded, ignorant fools couldn't prevent it.
I gave you a like but I wanted to quote as well because you used one of my favourite Sandman moments.
If Crestwood scene went differently:
Forget my mission! Forget my people! It's been 2k+ years, I'm getting laid tonight, the world be damned!
Getting Solas laid would've solved a lot of problems, I feel.
Aaaaand out of likes.
Still working on a concept for Cass romance. I was thinking archer Lavellan but I want to bring Varric, so he might be a mage.
Go mage! Cass/Mage is the best Cass pairing.
Read Masked Empire. The Halamshiral sections should give you some idea of what life is like for Orlesian elves.
I am not saying that quizzy can't inspire hope and change. She's an extraordinary person, and my Lavellan is one of my favorite PCs.
I'm saying that she's not some magical panacea for Thedas. Going back to the original topic of enemy agents in the Inquisition: she is not immune to mistakes and betrayal. She is just as capable of inspiring fear as hope. Remember that Andraste was betrayed too, and she was the setting's original messiah.
What I like about DA is its richness of perspective. For every Vivienne, an Anders. For each one of them, a Rhys or Evangeline. The same applies to the elves. For every elf who follows quizzy, there are others who choose the Qun, or Fen'Harel.
^^^^^
We actually don't know how many elves are siding with Solas. It could be anywhere from hundreds to hundreds of thousands. We also don't know how he sold it to them. He probably didn't tell them everything like he told Lavellan, that's for sure And we don't know how many of those disappearing elves were his to begin with: ancients, like Felassan and Abelas.
It's kind of like the Anders death toll. Didn't know how many died until the Keep tile.
I actually worked it out before the Keep, basing it on the average number of people living in a large catherdral. There wasn't just priests in that Chantry - there would be lay brothers and sisters, widows and orphens (yes, the Chantry didn't do as much as they could to help people in Kirkwall but they did take in people), scribes, people who had gone in to pray, that one guy who couldn't stay out of the Rose...

We love you too, threadad.
isn't the first picture just of Cillian and the second just a random elfy guy? There's some dialogue from the second one after you do Well of Sorrows and he sounds pretty anti-ancient elfy stuff. I don't think either of them, or the elf female, are spies, especially since the dialogue from the elf female is pretty oblivious and amazed-sounding about Well of Sorrows.
If one is though, it would probably be Cillian. he's a bit suspicious =3=
The two are different elves. The one who talks in Sential armour is Andrastian. Cillian is Dalish. None of the DAMP characters speak at Skyhold.
Ok another general opinion question:
is solas canonically bisexual?? I remember that they were gonna make him bi for a bit but didn't (due to resources?)
i never really saw any confirmation from weekes or anyone saying that his character is bi, but it would be so cool if my favorite character of all time (from books, video games, movies, everything) is the same sexuality as me. It would make me feel all fuzzy inside XD
No, he's not. Weekes is on record saying that he wrote the romance for f!Lavellan. Often all the VAs will record every line (that's why the Kaiden and Ash romances exists for manShep and femShep in ME1, and why Garrett Hawke has lines about wanting a dress 'festooned with ruffles'. Solas was the last LI added (note that Solas is one of the only LIs who cannot be hit on by anyone other than f!Lavellan Although I would've loved to see his reaction to a human flirting with him, and I think he would've turned down an m!Lavellan very sweetly). It was probably just cheaper and easier to have everyone record everything and sort it out later. Apparently the Bull romance caused some issues because they had to get FPJ back in the studio to re-record romance dialouge after Epler made the romance ungated (god bless that man) and if this was the case it's likely they wanted to avoid another situation like this just in case the romance was intended for male and female Lavellans.

Okay, back to catching up with the thread (curse this system of limited the number of posts that can be replied to!)
My rogues are simple. Give them two pointy things to get stabby and some sweet moves to use them with.
And 50% of their abilities are basically blood magic, let's be real. Stab something in the back to go into stealth. Stab something really hard to regain stamina. Kill something and Deathblow's cooldown resets.
