I agree that there has to be WAAAAY more people in play in Thedas.  It made sense to just be Mythal in the beginning when we didn't know a lot but now the new players are being revealed.  I'm still not sold on a relationship with Mythal that is 'working together' more like working together as long as it's mutually beneficial.  Or that she has sway over him, real or self inflicted on Solas's part but that we will be able to break eventually.

I'm still hoping for a twin blight....just sayin...

I would argue that Flemeth is both Flemeth the Alamarri witch of legend, AND Mythal.  And perhaps if Kieran had held the old god soul for longer, he would be both Kieran AND Urthemiel.  With the two personalities blending into one.  So Lavellan would be some kind of harmony between her old self, and Mythal.

As for Solas himself, I don't particularly like the idea of Mythal pulling the strings on nearly everything in the DA universe.  It's more interesting when there are more independent parties involved.  I'd much prefer it if Solas and Mythal are allies (albeit complicated ones), but don't have the same goals or purpose, and one is not unduly influencing the other.

Right, that is how I see it as well, a person that is essentially a blend of both... but in my eyes, that would make her no longer Lavellan... more Lavemythal? If all she or Solas is doing is absorbing Mythal's power and none of Mythal's thoughts/motives/personality, then I might be more comfortable with that. But that is obviously not the case, in Flemeth's case anyway. I still don't know what they did with Solas and Mythal.

Single favorite part of the Trespasser DLC.  The drop mic moment where you basically say I saved the world as myself and all you saw was the 'Inquisition'.  Guess what...I'm out.  You can have the Inquisition and you can have the title, I got some world saving to do just me and my buddy's.

That angry f*** you speech to the Exalted Council, and the "I don't believe in gods" line to Corypheus.  Those two moments basically summed up my Lavellan's philosophy, and they were so satisfying to RP.

She's not a god.  She's not a prophet.  She's not a title.  She's a person, a flesh-and-blood person trying to clean up her ex-boyfriend's stupid messes :D

Ok, so I'm trying to push myself into writing more, and I might start by reading to get ideas. If anyone here on this thread writes fanfic, would you mind sharing your AO3/FF profile? And do you have good motivating tips for writing? :)

Also:

My AO3/FF.net profiles are in my signature, along with a link to the shared vhenantrash blog.  As for motivating tips:

1) Fanfiction is for yourself, and it's for fun.

2) You will always be your own worst critic.  Accepting that makes the whole process way more fun and way less frustrating.

3) Throw spaghetti at the wall.  Just write for a half hour, no editing, and see what turns up.  My brain surprises me sometimes :)

4) If there's a particular thing you want to write about, poke around and do some research.  Other people's fanfic, published fiction, Wikipedia, smutty art ;)  Whatever gets the brain ticking.

Hubby convinced me on my second playthrough not to disband and agreed that the best option was disbanding.

Did you do the angry disband option? I love how the crowed gasps and some of the nobles jump up XD

Lol no, that was the whole point of my comments. You could always hold out hope for later promotions or free downloads though.

Yeah... no. My Lavellan would not be willing, she wants to be her own person, and not even an eternity with Solas will entice her. I'm actually even a little grossed out there might be a bit of Mythal in Solas.

Edit: I mean, at what stage does he stop being Solas and become more Mythal? If she becomes Mythal's vessel, she is no longer Lavellan.

Ok, I don't believe this theory 100%, but it is a theory just for debate:

Anders is still Anders despite being a vessel for Justice. He is changed, but Anders is not gone. If Lavellan didn't like the new arrangement, then she'd no longer be willing, and could perhaps do that Avaar ritual to separate. It's possible Mythal was originally very different from the Flemeth we knew. Perhaps the host can change the spirit just as much as the spirit can change the host. Who knows?

Also, when I start using terms like Mr. SchmexyMcElfyPants to describe Solas it should probably be a clue that I'm getting silly. I was just reaching for low hanging fruit for why a Lavellan might be willing. Some people might want to merge with Mythal for religious reasons (I know Dalishism is debunked now, but some people probably roleplay an elf in denial). Some might just want to be immortal.

I don't want my Lavellan to merge with Mythal as it stands, but who knows where the devs might take us or why we might, in the end, be ok with it? Honestly, Solas probably wouldn't want Lavellan to join with Mythal anyway.

I'm pretty sure that was it.  I don't normally pick anything angry but it seemed like the right fit and I loved it. Best ending ever.  I got one arm and I'm still gonna do more than you fops  :D

Don't mind me while I save the world from an ancient elven Gods.  You guys have fun talking about it.

Okay, I get the gender is meaningless thing, but why they use she/her, daughter, mother and matron then? How can they not be female 0.0

Ah whatever, as a zipline instructor once said when he mistook a girl for a boy "Ah well, gender is a state of mind anyway" *shoves her off* (at a Christian camp no less!)

I feel your pain!! Not with Mass Effect, I've heard enough people fangirl rant about Garrus to know he's the one I'd choose if I ever got the game, but with Dragon Age first play through was:

Origins: Alistair "nobley" steals my Amell's archdemon kill. I thought her noble death would be a good way to end the game (and I didn't trust Morrigan), so I mentally prepared myself for her death "Goodbye Alistair my love" aaaaannnnddd then he goes and is all like "this is my duty, I'd never let you do this"

DA: Hey look it's Anders, I'm gonna romance him. Holy fluff what happened to Anders?? No, NO! NONONONO!! He did NOT JUST DO WHAT I THINK HE DID!!

And of course Inquisition: -.-

But I can't lie, I liked the idea of the drama of sacrificing myself in Origins, I knew from spoilers that Anders would do something to betray you, and I was on the Solas speculation thread when they were theorizing he had something to do with Fen'Harel.

they also use father as well. They use more female one because they ''look'' like female.  As Liara says both her father and mother are asari. Asari does not really have s*x just normally it's kind of a mental way to do it. '' Embrace the eternity '' haha :D they only look like one. here is Liara's ''father''

oh and *edit:

IF Aria was romancable in ME 2-3 I would've taken a romance to her as well. She is amazing... I guess to call her... her...? Idk XD but yes

AND I am a straight female lol

I disbanded on all of my characters...I thought it might be the best option and I really hope it is. I figure if I didn't disband the Inquisition solas would know what we were doing or planning to convince him to stop with his plan.

I agree. It's nice to have armies from all over but I feel like no matter what happens the small-close knit group of Lavellan, advisors and companions always does the brunt of the work anyway. I figured our operation would be more 'covert' and have a greater chance of finding and stopping Solas without the threat of corruption and spies.

Bigger operation you're bound to have a lot more spies and Solas will know every move you're planning on making.

LOL!!! I think that would bring about the end of the entire Dragon Age universe in one huge sparkling spirit orgasm.  :wizard:  That or a giant elven baby would appear floating in space above Thedas, and The People would suddenly have new worlds to explore in the newly discovered Mass Effect universe aka The Solavellan Baby's bellybutton.

OK, I'm out for the day. Have fun kids.

With the asari, the devs could've taken more of a chance to do something more interesting with gender, but the inspirations behind asari and having them coded as female presented humanoids, well those were tied together. So the use of terms like matriarch and using female pronouns is part of that, and it's just how they are. Though, I do personally like asari and their ways. They're a fascinating people. My canon and only LI was Liara, everything else feels wrong, and if I could have brought myself to romance anyone else it would have been Samara (You can share a loving moment and a kiss in Citadel, though I've only watched it. But it's lovely.).

Also:

Spoiler

Family sometimes, eh? Well, I'm glad we're here to help a bit. As far as writing, Sable's advice is solid. I tend to start with a feeling or one particular moment or situation and then write around it. Sometimes nothing will come, but just write. Occasionally your brain will produce mud but sometimes you'll get a few usable lines you can turn into something.

Write with your senses. Ground a story by giving us some idea of what your characters are sending - seeing, hearing, feeling, touching, smelling, tasting. Doesn't have to be everything at once. What's your setting like? Sometimes I look up images as writing references.

If you're troubled by dialogue or a sequence that won't come, skip it for now. I tend to write something, put [DIALOGUE] or [WORDS] as place markers and then continue with what I can write, then return to fill the blanks.

My AO3 is in my signature too. I should reorganize my stories a bit, but there are three main areas there: Solavellan, stories about my Lavellan (including her first love and one Lavellan/Dorian friendship fic), and I have a short epistolary series I started and have neglected far too long based on a relationship between Leliana and f!Cousland. I really need to add more to that one now that DAI is over

I also opted to disband, mostly because I felt like, as a massive organisation tied to the Chantry (even with your friendship with the Divine), there would be no way to keep the Solas situation in hand. Other parties would find out about him, or at the very least discover that he was a threat, and it's unlikely they would be as merciful as Lavellan. My girl definitely wants to keep this whole thing under her hat so she can deal with it her own way.

Finally got Last Court to work.  Just got this:

A change of heart True enough, she was an initiate in the Chantry and trained at Serault Abbey. You hear from current and former nuns of the Abbey. They speak of her dedication, her piety; her unruliness, her wilfulness, her flirtations with heresy. She will say little about her education. "The Chantry has lost its way," she says. "You have seduced it with gold and comforts. It props you up when it should burn you down. Therefore, those it has abandoned must do the burning ourselves. I have foreseen it. The sky, aflame. On your ashes we will build a second Golden City, and the Maker will descend to dwell among the meek."

Definitely thinking the veil is coming down.  They are referencing it everywhere.  All the people who 'see' are saying it's coming down.  What's more interesting is her talk of a second Golden city and the maker descending.  Is this what Solas is envisioning after the fall of the veil or what he's trying to prevent?  Or is the Maker not related to the Elven Gods and this isn't even something that he sees.

The on your ashes we will build still jives with the destruction of something.  Death or death of 'self'.

100% Yes.  Can we have the twin blight in DA5?

Oh I don't naysay them being friends.  I'm not seeing them as lovers and from the codexes relationships in ancient times seem like a facebook 'it's complicated status.'  My guess they were normally friends but not always.  Even when they disagreed they still respected each other the way the Inky & Solas do.  Or the way I imagine my Inky does. I'm for him being one of her people too and hope that if the reference from Cole about a spirit manifesting was Solas that Mythal wasn't the binder.  Maybe the one he was chained to their bed?  (Andruil I think).

The Maker created the Veil.  That's Solas.  I'm not saying he IS the Maker.  I'm just saying that so much of the Maker and the Chant seems to apply to Solas and the Ancient Elvhen.  I would not be surprised at all if everything that has to do with the Golden City, seat of the Maker, etc and so on is what Solas did.  So much stuff has been appropriated by Tevinter that came from the elves.  Heck they think they're the ones responsible for the fall of Arlathan.  Andrastian faith could be kind of the same thing.

Elves, it's all elves, elves everywhere and everything is their fault!

It is definitely coming down. But I don't know if the 'second Golden City' is going to be the victory for the elves. Solas seems to be a little too confident that all he has to do is bring down the veil, and the ancient elves will be superior once again.

This isn't factoring in that, in Solas's time, humans were still very primitive. Dwarves were still connected to titans, two huge things that kept them from gaining power. Who is to say that dropping the veil might not just make Tevinter ridiculously powerful? Elves might be immortal, but that might be their best trump card.

Just speculating, but. Something is going to come rain on Solas's parade, and I don't think it'll just be the evanuris.

There's still the "old dreams" lurking about somewhere, the old dreams he needed to stop. Possibly they were the things the evanuris were trying to awaken for more power, and possibly they have to do with the taint.
