Just speculating, but. Something is going to come rain on Solas's parade, and I don't think it'll just be the evanuris.

There's definitely got to be some complications there. Just ripping down the Veil is too easy.

Nothing in Thedas goes that smoothly. And unexpected parade rain is sort of Solas' whole schtick at this point.

I saw this posted in another thread.  I thought it was pretty interesting.  (It was in 'Nature of the Evanuris')

I think what made them unique is their first war.

Elgar'nan defeated a Godlike figure , his father "The Sun" ...When he beat up the "Sun" something bad happened (all went dark) Mythal came to the rescue calm down Elgar'nan , and basically they tamed the "Sun".

Now the very interesting thing is...I don't really know what the "Sun" is , but The Sun is also the symbol of the Maker , the ultimate Creator ,at least when it comes to fade related Creatures (The Maker didn't create the dwarf according to Wynne).

The next very interesting thing is...in  one of Solas's fresco , you can see the Sun , and in another you see the Golden City (Seat of the Maker ) replacing the Sun.

I think the Evanuris , at least the oldest ones , such as Mythal and Elgar'nan defeated a Primeval God , stole part of its power , and created some sort of mockery as a symbol of this victory:The Golden City.

I imagine that's when the first sign of Blight appeared , the "darkness" the "first sin" , although those ancient elves were crafty and managed to contain the threat.

Well until their whole civilisation fell to pieces because they were prideful and stupid .

Like Flemeth says in DAO , true darkness lies in the heart of men.

Oh I don't naysay them being friends.  I'm not seeing them as lovers and from the codexes relationships in ancient times seem like a facebook 'it's complicated status.'  My guess they were normally friends but not always.  Even when they disagreed they still respected each other the way the Inky & Solas do.  Or the way I imagine my Inky does. I'm for him being one of her people too and hope that if the reference from Cole about a spirit manifesting was Solas that Mythal wasn't the binder.  Maybe the one he was chained to their bed?  (Andruil I think).

I agree with what you said.

Also I apologize I wasn't saying you were saying that they were lovers I was just writing what I thought about this "Solas and Mythal were lovers" thing going around..but everybody has their own opinion about those two lol   :D

It is definitely coming down. But I don't know if the 'second Golden City' is going to be the victory for the elves. Solas seems to be a little too confident that all he has to do is bring down the veil, and the ancient elves will be superior once again.

This isn't factoring in that, in Solas's time, humans were still very primitive. Dwarves were still connected to titans, two huge things that kept them from gaining power. Who is to say that dropping the veil might not just make Tevinter ridiculously powerful? Elves might be immortal, but that might be their best trump card.

Felassan did warn him, even if he didn't listen. "They're stronger than you think." That's got to be foreshadowing of some flavor.

Would be interesting if that voice whispering rebellion in Andrastes dreams was a certain elf during his long sleep.

Then again, I'm quite against the writers threading all the wonders and mysteries of Thedas back to "oh it was the Ancient Elves". It makes Thedas smaller, makes it as though there are only a small handful of people driving every point in history (like Solas inspiring the Qun). It takes the mystery from the world, reduces everything down until you wonder why they created such a vast lore when all the ultimate answers come down to 3 or 4 people.

Don't rain on Solas's Parade ;)

I woke up next morning after passing out and when checked forum, why did I have 20 likes?? What did I write? Then looked:

omg LOL I'm so sorry everyone that post was so garbled wahaha.

BUT I did mean it, and thank you everyone who said nice things and liked it etc. You guys are the best :)

We love our thread dad.

Awww I pray that things will get better for you.  <3

Wha?...top? Me? Ooooh Jk  :P

Old school Solas!

Finally got Last Court to work.  Just got this:

A change of heart True enough, she was an initiate in the Chantry and trained at Serault Abbey. You hear from current and former nuns of the Abbey. They speak of her dedication, her piety; her unruliness, her wilfulness, her flirtations with heresy. She will say little about her education. "The Chantry has lost its way," she says. "You have seduced it with gold and comforts. It props you up when it should burn you down. Therefore, those it has abandoned must do the burning ourselves. I have foreseen it. The sky, aflame. On your ashes we will build a second Golden City, and the Maker will descend to dwell among the meek."

Definitely thinking the veil is coming down.  They are referencing it everywhere.  All the people who 'see' are saying it's coming down.  What's more interesting is her talk of a second Golden city and the maker descending.  Is this what Solas is envisioning after the fall of the veil or what he's trying to prevent?  Or is the Maker not related to the Elven Gods and this isn't even something that he sees.

The on your ashes we will build still jives with the destruction of something.  Death or death of 'self'.

If the veil came down in Serault then no-one would notice.

By the way - anyone who liked The Last Court should try Sunless Sea or Fallen London.

And this is why Solas has to get resolved in the middle of DA4.  I mean...I love you Solas but there is SO MUCH MORE I WANT TO KNOW.  There has to be more than 3-4 people....HAS TOO.

If we get to the end of the series and the whole history of Thedas has been forged by 4 elves in a trench-coat I'm gonna be pissed.

Twin blight and all of the Evanuris free after the Veil comes down.  That would be a bonkers game.  Solas would be like "whyyyyyyyyyy you guys stole my thunder.  They're supposed to fear meeeeeeee."  I don't know why I am seeing Solas as a whiny toddler throwing a temper tantrum.  But I appear to be in a very silly mood today so I am just going to roll with it.

Serault is my number one place I want to see more of, but I also don't want to see more of because it would NEVER live up to how I picture this place (plus, very annoyed that DAI made The Scholar the canonical ruler of Serault.)

it could be as simple as that.  But I think the truth is likely a lot more complicated.  Something came before them.  And we just found out about the Titans in Descent.  I feel like as powerful as the Elvhen were, there was something scary powerful before them.  There's something they put to sleep and made forget to wake.  Imagine if that thing wakes up?  Solas taking down the Veil would be small potatoes in comparison to something like that.

Serault is like the location version of Hawke. Everyone is batsh*t, everything goes wrong, there's blood magic in the streets and Tuesdays are half-off demon possessions. Weekends are reserved for riots, fires, and explosions.

I really, really enjoyed The Last Court. Even if I will forever pine for the Silent Hunter.

That poor DA4 PC.

DA:O--Blight

DA2--Kirkwall (because let's face it, Kirkwall is actually trying to murder you)

DAI--Apocalypse magister

DA4--Apocalypse boyfriend, things that are immeasurably worse than apocalypse boyfriend, Titans, Great Cthulhu, Lord Voldemort, and a train strike for good measure.

If my Warden is still around, I think she'll be glad she was the first PC I made

I'm with Jess, I want it all in one game!  Bouncing from one world ending crisis to the next.  Who wouldn't love that?!  No one could complain it was boring, or had pacing issues.  You'd be too busy for there to ever be lulls.

That would be an insane game.  It would probably be the shortest Bioware game in existence though, because cripes that is a lot of **** in one game.  lol

The Silent Hunter and Well Read Pig Farmer should've been romanceable.

I love all the hints that WRPF is a member of the magisterium.  And it was totally worth losing all my dignity to recuit her.
