Hello Solas thread!

 

I've been lurking for a while and I decided to make an account. This seemed to be the nicest place to introduce myself, but I'm a bit nervous about it... 

 

I thought I should say something even though I've basically hijacked the discussion   

 

I'm a huge fan of all the DA:I characters thus far, but especially Solas!

Sounds like fun   Reminds me of my first ME run... I hadn't really played any shooters other than Fallout 3/NV (which I was actually okay at) and chose 'Infiltrator' because it sounded cool and I didn't really get what biotics were. And all the in-game characters were calling me this great soldier... I was like 'Clearly you weren't watching!' I played a Vanguard my second time... apparently moving things with my mind and punching people is more my forte than actual aiming. 

 

Hah, well, that's good! Means I'll have less to feel guilty about if the thread MP happens and I do end up setting you on fire... I can go back in my likes and say REMEMBER WHEN YOU SAID IT SOUNDED FUN? 

Speaking of which, I should get around to adding you guys... When I went to launch Origin the other day it crashed? Had to re-install it. Guess something broke in all the months it went unused. But it should work now...

 

My first ME files I played Soldier because I had NO IDEA what anything was.  I was like, biotics?? Tech?? Wut?? Well, I can understand guns, at least. But I was SO BORED with it. Then I tried Vanguard which was fun. At first. But then in 2 you had like, two biotic powers and I was so over it... so then I switched to Adept and FAVORITE 5EVER. There is nothing more satisfying than pegging someone in the face with a magical baseball and watching them go flying... No going back after experiencing that gem! (What, me, a space mage? Noo0oo...)

ME was the first game I played that wasn't set in a quasi medieval setting, when I got to the class options I skipped right passed soldier because it looked too much like warrior and I hate being the tank, the play style and oversized armour just aren't for me. So after much dithering I ended up playing a sentinel, it was a compromise I couldn't decide between tech and biotics.

 

Unfortunately my first Shepard didn't make it passed meeting with the council as she looked like a smushed hamburger once animation kicked in.   

 

To this day I still can't aim without using the HUD as a cheat.

Alright! I obnoxiously sent out a request to all of you that said they're on PC and put down an ID as well... Which is basically everyone that said they're on PC except for Tempest329. Unless I missed someone or mixed something up in the flurry of posts. Just gonna put it out there again that my ID is skybane001 in case anyone sees the invite and is like "who the f***?" since it's been a few days. Avatar is also Sera to attempt to lessen the strange factor. I'm going to go hide now because this amount of forwardness (yes, I perceive a friend request as forward, hah) is almost more than my little asocial self can bear. 

 

also sorry to Fialka and Cezelle for leaving you guys hanging there! I guess Origin pooped itself while I was off playing most things on Steam... 

 

edit @ Sanrya: Ahh, nothing beats being lied to by the CC, huh?? I had to re-do my first Jane too... but that was because I hadn't figured out how to swivel her head in the creator and once I saw her in cutscenes GOOD GODS, HER NOSE. It looked like it had been broken 50 times. It was bad times all around. 

 

edit2 @ Tamyn because I am SO dropping the ball rn: I love it! Those smug looks of amusement on Solas and Cole are great. And the hood is so cute! Also love the dragon just casually flying by in the background... I feel like it's laughing from a distance...

My usual class in ME is Engineer, which considering that I am one IRL isn't a really creative choice.

As for the "stuff that dreams are made of" comic, I thought that was what Solas made his long johns out of?

@ Tamyn - Your art is always amazing.  I love this one, particularly the carefree joy in Cole's face.  Emotion can be so tricky in art and you do a great job with it.

@ Rebbywriter - that was hilarious.  Well done!

@AnimeLavellan- great link on that article.  I've been a gamer since Atari Adventure and Pitfall, not to forget the maze of twisty passages all alike (Colossal Cave Adventure) on my first PC - yup it was a Tandy. Don't know what people are talking about when they say women aren't serious gamers. 

 

I might play multiplayer on PC, it looks far more enticing than I expected.  I am TanithAeyrs on Origin as well.  Not really a fan of multi-player or co-op games (SWTOR is still the only Bioware game I do not own), but everyone on this thread is so much fun and so nice.  Do not expect amazing gameplay on multi-player from me, my twitch reflexes are non-existent. I will probably die a thousand deaths while trying unsuccessfully to pause the game to plan.

Depends on my mood, honestly. Solas/Cass/Varric have great debates. Dorian/Bull/Sera are fun. Viv/Dorian/Solas BLOW UP EVERYTHING.

Heh, I think there's more than a few of us who seem to be making an exception for MP just because of this thread. I know I am. And considering about 99% of the talk was prefaced with the idea of "being bad together," I'll think you'll be in good company.

Yeah, me too. I hope Solas mixes well with Dorian, Iron Bull and Sera, because I think I'll be mixing him up with Team Yolo.

From what I remember of the dev team makeups... Dorian makes fun of his clothes?  (Maybe only if Vivienne is around too.)  Someone called Solas, Cole, and Sera Team Crushed Expectations - I have no idea what that means.  Iron Bull is one of the people PW said Solas doesn't really get along with.  Solas has a problem with Qunari being against free-thought, I think.

I did this so, so often when I started playing ME3MP.  I still do it sometimes when I switch between a BioWare game I can pause and one I can't.
