Ah, okay.
But where are they? I thought I was pretty thorough in the DLC but I haven't had it come up yet.
Here is a video how to unlock that special dialogue option.

I personally don't like the way she says the line when picking "You're the Dread Wolf". It comes across as overly accusatory and combative. I prefer the concerned line...especially since the affection came out again after all this time. Cementing the choice of the heart option. She cares...a lot.
I agree. When I saw that there was a special dialogue option, I excited to look it up, but then I heard it spoken out loud and thought, "... Never mind."
After he kept the mark from spreading in her hand, I chose the "How did you do that?" dialogue option, because it's reminiscent of how they met.
First meeting:
*Solas grabs her hand and uses it to close a rift*
Lavellan: What did you do?
Solas: I did nothing, the credit is yours.
Lavellan: I closed that thing? How?
Final meeting (this game):
*Solas heals her mark with a thought*
Lavellan: How did you do that?
Solas (gentle smile): The same way I kept the mark from spreading back at Haven, although I am stronger now.
It helps bring their story (for this game) full circle. ![]()
Mine was just trying to play it cool (plus I've read a rather confident tone she says "You're the Dread Wolf" as something of a somewhat smug "a-ha! I KNEW all this time there was more to you than you revealed!"), but then emotions overcame her
Yeah, mine had trouble playing it cool too. Though I did like how even the emotional dialogue options have a little more steel to them. It's been two years. Lavellan is not going to let him dodge her like he used to. There are going to be touches of anger, and I like the variance in his responses. If anything, he looks even more distressed when Lavellan's yelling or snarking at him, because he knows she's right.

I knew it was him keeping us alive lol ALSO when the mark speards on her hand at Haven ( I just started to replay because I got a bug with bulls+blackwall's quests) and I realized that when her hand started like spreading it when Solas was behind you after he moved a little closer to you and looked at you it stopped right away. Kind of like that he was keeping it from killing you.

I chose the "yes, ironically" option and after he apologizes, she steps forward and just demanded the truth, by appealing to him caring for her. He did just say "Ir abelas, vhenan" after all. And he just has his eyes mostly downcast and he steps back as she comes forward. He knows he has to tell her everything, despite how painful.
For me, that worked well, because it was something in between the angry response, which would have been completely OOC, and a loving, emotional response that still as you say, didn't let him dodge anymore. Too late for that.

I love Alix Wilton Regan's VA on the more emotional responses. Though I don't think I'll be taking as many of them in the future. My Lavellan won't become a colder person for all that's happened to her, but she'll certainly be more wary and reserved.

Considering how ruthless Solas is to the point where he will kill even his own friends to achieve his goals and some Quizz's (such as mine) would kill Solas if there isn't any other option. One of the ending to DA4 could end up with Solas killing Lavellan. Or maybe that wouldn't even be the ending, but instead the intro to DA4. It gets rid of the Quizz so that the game can introduce a new hero to clean up Solas's mess. Or not the intro, but you later find the Quizz's dead body. Or maybe Dorain and new PC team up to find the Quizz and when they find Solas, Dorian is angry and scared that Solas had killed them. And Solas is like... I'm sorry. Then Dorian tries to kill him if the Quizz was friends/or lovers with him.
Ugh. Nope. Dislike. No matter whether your Inquisitor wants to kill or redeem Solas.
That's like the worst way to introduce a new PC. Besides, why would Solas wait till DA4 when he could just not help the Inquisitor with the mark in Trespasser and she'd effectively die anyway. If Bioware wanted to just clear the way for a new PC, the most sensible way would be to kill the Inquisitor in Trespasser.
I didn't notice that. I just replayed that part too. I guess I'll have to go back and check it out.
The codexes you find at Haven, and Varric's dialogue pretty much already confirm that it was his doing.

The codexes you find at Haven, and Varric's dialogue pretty much already confirm that it was his doing.
Um... which codexes at Haven? And which dialogue from Varric?
This is in three parts, beginning in the house you wake up in: http://dragonage.wik...nt_Observations
In the first mission, where you meet Varric and Solas. Solas greets you and -
Varric: He means, "I kept that mark from killing you while you slept."
And the Fade Haven dream gives some more details.
Yes, while we're on the subject of you being conked out at Haven, are those Codex's about it taking 3 days to tend to you from before you seal the first rift (when you're dragged to the temple by Cass) or from your passing out after you seal it? I'm really blurry about the time frames for when you fell through the rift to waking up and then passing out again.
This is mainly for a fic I've been slowly writing. From what I can tell, you were possibly 3 days passed out the first time before waking in the cell for interrogation. But then, when you wake up in Haven again after closing the first breach, the elf servant says that the mark on your hand that closed the rift, is all anyone has been talking about for three days, making it sound like you were out for another three days after journeying to the temple.
So were you out for nearly a total of 6 days? Or was it just three days and I'm missing something? It's all so confusing.
I had that same issue with the timing for writing. I think you really did just go out twice. You did have a sparking mark and closed a very major rift after you woke up the first time, Varric comments the above, so Solas has already been helping. Even his own codex will list that before it changes. The set of patient codex entries don't really make a lot of sense and the servant's reaction, if you haven't. But it is written in a very unclear way. It's probable they meant a total of three days but then jumbled it up.
Speaking of writing, I got a few paragraphs done but nothing post-Trespasser is flowing yet. Went back to a story about my Lavellan's past. I think I'll try the post-Trespasser stuff next though.
I got plot bunnies for the Adoribull epilogue slide. Because you can't tell me that Lavellan wouldn't rush off to save her bestie too ![]()
There was also an option where you tell him, "The Qunari are after you and I tried to get here first." (Not an exact quote.) To which he responds, "I know." in the most patronizing tone ever. That one I never pick.
It sounded patronizing to me as well. I replayed the scene several times to check different dialogue options, and the "I tried to get here first" was the first option I took, because I wanted to show him that Lavellan still cared. That "I know" put me right on the track to breakup, and I had done it if he didn't sound so sweet and feelsy in the "How is that old Dalish curse" line.
Still that remained my canon answer, because it fits my Lavellan best. She's pretty stoic and shows her soft side mostly to Solas, so it made sense she let her guard down and showed him her concern the time she saw he was right.
I was actually surprised that it was so easy to snap him out of it, when he was clearly anguished and enraged. All it took was his name. One word, to bring him back to himself.
"remind him who he is". Reminding him Fen'Harel would kill those mages, but Solas wouldn't. The more I think about his story and character, the more I like it. "Well done", Weekes ![]()
Also I'm a bit late, but I wanted to add to the spirit of Hope discussion: I don't like the idea. At all. Precisely because we as humans tend to look for explanations and causality in everything, it feels way more fascinating to me when stories don't provide it. Or not for everything, and specially when you can't pin down specific causes for major events. And I also love the existential despair that grows from it. You want a reason for this? Well, there is none. Deal with it. I just loved the memory at the Fade when we learned that the Inquisitor got the mark by pure chance. One can make it the work of a higher power like you can do so in real life, but you don't have any proof of it. It just comes down to faith, that major theme in Inquisition.
I prefer that what Solas sees in Lavellan is like how people in modern Thedas can rise out of the ordinary without that super duper omnipresent magic that allowed elvhen to do so, rather than some spirit inhabiting her. She had the Anchor and Skyhold, but Solas himself answers to Quizzy thanking him by saying that her doings are her own. I like it better that way. The extraordinary rising out of the ordinary by a mix of chance, personal ability and circumstance is fascinating to me; the extraordinary rising out of the ordinary by extraordinary agency, a bit boring.
Again, this is only my personal preference. Currently it's just in the realm of headcanon, and we'll see whether they confirm either way, in game, books or panels.
My husband was asking how many razors does Solas have to use to keep his head like that. I replied that he probably burned all his body hair away when removing his vallaslin. Although, now when I think of it, being few hundreds into thousands years old, he's probably bald from age and worries.
My hubby dislikes him, but doesn't know yet who is he antagonizing. Which is odd, since he does kinda like Cole.
Edit: oh first page post.
Here a quick one.

I've been watching different versions of romance conversations with Solas and am a bit disappointed in the one where Lavellan breaks up with him. Besides looking a bit sad at first, he seems to snap into 'high approval friend mode' too quickly. By that I mean, I don't like how he walks off with purpose at the end of the scene just like he does with someone that was never romanced. I think the scene would have been better if the 'my love' and kiss were left out when he takes her hand as he respects her decision to break up. But, I'd like to see him do the heavy hearted sad face walk away like he does with a romanced Lavellan so that we can see how much he still loves her (despite the break up). It would show how much she impacted him even if she no longer wants to be with him and that he's hurt by the break up.
I was actually surprised that it was so easy to snap him out of it, when he was clearly anguished and enraged. All it took was his name. One word, to bring him back to himself.
My PCs can never let their friends or beloveds indulge in revenge, not Garrus, Sera, Solas...nope. They're all hippies I guess. Friends don't let friends execute people in a moment of passion. Revenge is what got Solas and Thedas in this whole mess. Allowing Solas to murder those mages doesn't seem like a step on the path to his redemption.
I'm disappointed the choice about Solas and the mages isn't in the Keep. It should make a difference in the future.
Oh hey, isn't "hope" the yin to "dread" yang?
Sorry if this ended up two posts in a row...reading the thread backwards is probably a bad idea.
Can't like, so
.
This is the conclusion I've been coming to also. Lavellan is hope and Solas is dread. Weekes recently said hope wasn't the worst quality to have when a Solasmancer tweeted they still had hope for Solas and Lavellan. It's probably nothing but, wink wink, maybe it is. I HOPE the Dread vs Hope theme is something they've already been planning on in the Solas story arc.
So this is a weird question...
Does anyone have a suggestion how to tint the DLC armor (skin that stalks)?
I don't know if this has been discussed before, but what about the kill mages/not kill mages option in his personal quests? I know it doesn't seems to be an important choice in game. It is not even mentioned in keep. But I don't know, is it possible to be a point where similar to soften/harden leliana part in future games? Not saying it will soften Solas or changes his mind, but after trespasser, when I do his personal quest and the option pop up again, it's hard for me not to relate it to his likely-destroy-the-world-plan.
Though I know this isn't an important decision, and changes nothing in game, but I still fear this would make him more a monster. I was hoping to... well, I was like, 'NO, show some mercy Solas, show some mercy to this modern world.....even to these stupid mages.'
After trespasser, I just can't view Solas and all his words the same as before.
Edit: AH, I saw someone has mentioned it.
I missed it.

I like to go with something that complements my Inq's coloring. Couldn't find a pic, but for my red-headed, green eyed, pinkish toned skin Trev I used the ring velvet cloth and deepstalker leather. It looks really good on her.
I haven't got to the point where I have enough materials to make a set of Skin Walker Armor for my new Lavellan who has black hair, pale skin and light blue eyes. I think I'll use the deep blue cloth (can't recall the name) but I'm not sure about which leather I'll use.
Just arrived home and I'm tired and I'll try to catch up to this thread but anyway...

About the mythal/solas ex-lovers case, I wanted to leave my thoughts/feelings here. For one this would be gross, and very diminishing regarding our Lavellans, and i dont think would be such a case.
Solas respected mythal as she cared and protected people and his love for her comes from that. I dont know why their relationship is "complex", it could be many things, i wont get into this (former promoted guardian, a freedom spirit embodied on call, an entity older that all evanuris/oldgods or whatever, fighting for freedom-be it body/material as in slavery or mental as having the freedom of thought and choice-is always present/needed whatever the realm/time is), there are many possibilities, hopefully explained in coming games. They surely have been a lot together, they were allies aligned by the same goals. But none of this suggests any of them being in-love, despite the intimacy they seem to have. In times of war/conflict comrades in battle tend to get intimate/close like this without anything erotic between them.
In Lavellan, he sees all these traits he respects in mythal, but unexpectanly finds even more than he did till now:
She never aspired to rulership, or claims to be other that a simple person (mythal was an evanuris afterall, never rejected her 'godhood' and she had slaves). Quizzy had a great chance claiming a title for her self through all her accomplishments, but still did not, she still remains as was.
She believes in equality (she never treated anyone of lower status with superiority afaik, or she never feared to oppose nobles when they were injust), she is a strong woman when facing enemies, tries to be fair and not vindictive in her judgment (although some may literally throw goats at her walls for this, lolz) but in their private moments she is very sweet, shyly alluring and caring, bringing his own same-as-this self on surface too.
She is eager for knowledge to understand the world around her better, she is open-minded, she takes in and ponders on what he says to her, not rejecting nor blindly following his advice but considering everything. She is kind, not putting herself above but besides anyone who need her, and not because of regrets or things she previously did wrong (mythal im looking at u), but because thats the way she has always been, a bright spirit -as he says- this must be very refreshing/new/intriguing to him.
How could he not fall in-love with her, when she embodies everything he envisions in one to be?
And this marvelous spirit is drawn to him, she is falling in-love with him too. Through the events of the game(all dlcs included), she never gives up on him, she sees the better in him, no matter how much he pushes her away. Her first attraction/in-love has turned into a deep love/caring for him, he knows it, he feels the same and its totally tearing him apart- he clearly shows in trespasser ending- a kind of pain unlike what we witnessed in flemythal/solas stinger scene.
Love can take many forms, as with mythal/solas, or with justinia/leliana, but theirs has all these forms included, this is so rare to find!
There is an epic love here still untold/unresolved, I hope meserre Weekes will do it justice in coming installments, and doesn't bring us to sad tears! Lath vir suledin ![]()
