This is a decision I'd never make in this game.  I'd be more inclined to make everyone magic.

Yeah, I mean I guess we can't do the green hybrid option since that is what is currently in place and it's not exactly working....

I see the only safe way to end all madness is all magic being removed forever.

Magic is not the problem. People are.

And in BioWare's evil 'let him be a romance option' evil cackling ways they made it even more tragic, but also more hopeful, and stronger.

The key there is 'hopeful." Though it is infinitely more tragic, the fact that he can love is a hopeful sign in itself. He's not a monster without empathy. He feels and loves and hurts just like anyone else. And I think that's what Weekes meant when he said the romance could be a hopeful one. By romancing him, Lavellan already brought out a part of him that he thought was dead and gone. He didn't even consider the modern Thedosians to be people.

My hope is that we can show him the error of his ways and have him rest easy having done his repentance. Anything less would be too tragic for me to handle, and luckily, I don't think Bioware is the type of company to have tragedy without cause or hope.

I think this is actually happening - or will happen if the Veil becomes impervious (or strengthened, as Viddasala wanted it). I think it would be bad for everyone though, considering how living beings emotions and spiritual side is intrinsically tied to the Fade.

If magic is removed, then I see the world indeed turning to the world of full Tranquil.

That's an interesting idea, but how would you do it?

Make the whole world tranquil. Literally cut off the Fade forever. It would be like our world then now that I think about it.

I don't see the story going that way though. One of the things that makes Dragon Age kind of different is that the world is already depowered and broken, because the magic that is intrinsic to the world is cut off. I think it's the story of the magic all coming back, not the rest of it going away.

I think all the magic will come back as Sandal said, but unless they can find a balance, it won't last. Qunari attack because of magic being out of control, Kirkwall fell because of blood magic, red lyrium is to fuel magic and a mage caused a major rebellion, while another ancient one nearly tore the world apart. I'm not saying it's DA4's plot, but when DA finally ends, I could see it going that way.

And then he analyzes seashells on a beach somewhere to see if they have spirits (when it's all said and done)?

I sort of feel like I've been tricked into romancing Darth Vader.

This is not a bad thing. :bandit:

Do I have to beat you with the Team Optimism flag? :D

I think we need a TO flag distribution party. Seems some are misplacing theirs. :P

Magic is not the problem. People are.

Yes, but people are weak, jealous, arrogant, power hungry, homicidal, and just plain stupid. As long as they are gifted with magic they will continue to misuse it.

Thanks. :(

Well, he doesn't have to. He can live under very specific, kind of morally gray to terrible circumstances. But most people don't do that.

We can still dream and find magic in those dreams. You would have them lobotomized from their dreams forever?

I just hope we can get him to the "rest" point without his death. Don't get me wrong, Solas' story ending in repentant death WOULD fit. But it's so boooooooooooooooriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing. I hope the writers will be more creative than that in our options with Solas.

There's no way the Dread Wolf can just go wandering around Thedas unchecked - maybe if he were depowered or imprisoned or put under a geas that keeps him on a short leash (anything but tranquility, might as well kill him). I don't know, but I would like a maybe not "happy" but more a "not awful" ending for Solas and Lavellan - or for anyone who values his life.

No need to depower him, he managed to make it several millenia (mostly) without interfering with the world. He can probably do so again.

He and Lavellan could do something useful, even. Like recovering lost artifacts or rebuilding old buildings. I expect both of them would go crazy if they retired to Antiva or went on a Fade tour without having some kind of Big Responsibilities they're working on.

Exactly. We tried so hard and look what's happened? It's only getting worse. Cut it out and then order can begin to be restored less hazardously. The Fade obviously won't be destroyed, but to access it will be like trying to find a heaven or hell in real life, or trying to find limbo or spirits that we see out of the corner of our eye but can never prove were there. And we can only find it in dreams or death, but without magic we can't enter it like we could before.

That sounds pretty sad. I think it's worse than what Solas is planning. Our world is definitely not inhabited by Tranquil. We have dreams, emotions, love, desires, all those nice things that IMO make rolling a real life playthrough worth it.

I wouldn't say we live in a world without an ounce of magic *.* I think we just get old and stop believing!

Haha, I see your point, but why have just another thing for people to squabble over and abuse?

Really, I'm just playing Devil's advocate.

Not literally tranquil   I meant as in removing magic from it. We will still dream and have emotions, but we cannot reach the Fade anymore because magic is gone.

Chiara fan: <3. I liked your post already but have another <3.

You could say the same for all kinds of power, magical or not, based on that premise. Those qualities are jot specific to people with magic.

Either way, I think that view requires a pessimistic opinion of people which discounts their potential to do good, and relies on the assumption that human nature can never change. Which isn't true, as it has in the past - and will continue to do in the future.

As I said before I am playing Devil's advocate, but magic is a seriously powerful weapon in the wrong hands. Maybe it's ability to create evil in the future outweighs the chance it might do real good?

Yes, but in Thedas has been proven that sundering people from the Fade (which is the source of magic in the world) results in people losing dreams and emotions.

That is impossible given the possibilities and limits of magic in the DA universe. The closest you could get would be a state similar to the dwarves. Can't have magic, can't dream, but not incapable of accessing the fade - unlike tranquil. Access to the fade means they could still become abominations, although do not actively draw the attention of malicious spirits by simply existing as mages do.

That's most likely why we're headed to Tevinter. They probably have answers or something to help along in finding a balance, while ending the mage insanity. Some of us did send Fenyriel there after all. If they can control it, they might be able to help. If not, I see no other way. Cut the Fade off and hope for the best. It's all Solas' fault!

<3 Thanks, for replying, but I think I wasn't clear enough when I asked for help :)

If the image is saved to my pictures it won't let me just copy and paste to this.

Hopefully someone's already answered you, but I'll say anyway just in case:

You'll need to upload to an image sharing website, I use either imgur or photobucket, but whatever floats your boat. Then you can copy it the same way as you would something online (although imgur and photobucket will provide you with the URL link).
