I've never heard of that before.

Thank you!!
Much obliged. I have no idea where I read it, but it stuck with me and it was just on my mind. ![]()

I just thought of something. Mythal had statues depicting her as a dragon. What if she was an actual dragon and her blood was used in a sacrifice?
She did like to tease Hawk about being an actual dragon. But with the whole codex about "taking on a form reserved for the gods" it makes me think that the rest of the Evanuris could do it too.
It would be interesting if there was a specific reason for why they killed her, though.
Oooor... we can try and explore a different area of Thedas, that is yet to deal with all this Veil-removing thing. Or perhaps some kind of different dimension that was created in the meantime? We have no idea if someone else hasn't meddled with the very fabric of the universe. But we do know that there are different civilizations and strange things "out there".
Oh yes there's a giant world to explore, we've only seen one corner of it really. But I also think the devs might want to the series to end where everyone has a relatively similar worldstate, in case of future games set in Thedas so they don't have to worry too much about did the DA series end this way or that way?
I remember someone awhile back posted that Solas' quest to "Strengthen the Veil" with elvhen artifacts was actually weakening it as a joke. I am wondering now if that's actually what was happening.. :/ Though I think maybe at the time it *was* actually strengthening the veil because he did not want Corypheus to succeed and the orb was still in play at the time. And Solas never directly lied to the inquisitor. But any thoughts on this?
I thought about that even before Trespasser, but I don't think it's the case. Prior to defeating Cory once and for all and sealing the Breach properly, the tear in the Veil itself was barely stitched together. We see this right after sealing it - the spot where it was was still producing a vortex in the clouds.
And considering how easily Cory ripped it open at the end suggests that it was barely holding together - and the Breach itself is NOT how Solas wants to get rid of the Veil. It stands to reason that he indeed wanted to strengthen it at that time. How he plans to get rid of it now though remains an unknown ![]()

I don't think he was using you to his dirty work for him. Solas wants to keep you out of that unlike that arsehole Anders and that would of been a direct lie too. He said it was meant to strengthen the Veil, since he says he only lied by omission, I doubt that was an exception. If he lied about that it brings everything he's said to you into question.

I keep thinking blood sacrifice to gain more power. I also think Elgar'nan might be the betrayer because she found a kindred spirit in Flemeth, whose husband betrayed her, and that makes me wonder if Andraste was also Mythal because her husband betrayed her too. It's like Mythal kept placing a bit of herself in others to change history.

Oh, if they're going to create another series in the setting, I think there will be a near "full reset", like in case of ME.

It is a recurring theme so it's entirely possible.

I also noticed that not only do you fight Corypheus on broken pieces of the Temple of Sacred Ashes, but during the final fight you see a mosaic of Mythal in the center and using flycam, in the Haven Chantry you see her dragon statues and ironically enough Haven used to be a place for dragon worshipers who believed Andraste had risen in the form of a High Dragon.

Well, what bothers me about the "reset" of ME is that .. the end of the trilogy has pretty serious changes to the galaxy. The galaxy is either watched over by immortal Reapers, everyone is a borg, or the galaxy rebuilds. Unless somehow the borgs became purely organics again in the however many intervening years between the end of the trilogy and Andromeda, then if you chose synthesis your character should be a synthetic/organic hybrid. Actually that's the only ending that has any real significant change but it's still a pretty big one.
I'll still play Andromeda but that does irk me a bit.

Dragons are another major piece of the puzzle I think. The Evanuris, the Veil, the Blight, Dragons ... all threads that I hope are wrapped up by the end of the series.

Ahhhhh... now that I like. Gosh, I might actually be coming around to this theory. I generally don't like to think that all of the defining events of the world have been influenced by the same few people because it makes the world seem... smaller, I guess?
But there's definitely something poetic in the dragon connection.

It has to all connect eventually. So far with know Mythal killed a Titan, the Void is possibly where the Blight comes from and is below ground in the Deep Roads since Darkspawn live there, everyone went mad with power (tainted maybe?) and killed Mythal. Solas created the Veil and took away the elves immortality, most likely sealing the Evanuris in the Black City (possibly Arlathan?). Whispers led the Magisters to the City, they accidentally unlocked a seal keeping the Blight in (probably it had spread before Solas sealed them) and can back with it. Corypheus says the place was already corrupted. All that we need to connect is the Old Gods, their prisons and why Mythal wanted one's soul.

that would be a very good allusion to Andraste and Divine Justinia.
A big part of DA games is allusion, allegory, and patterns. This is why I always stress the fact that writers rule the plot of this game. It's not written to be dramatic, but rather to just tell a good story about morality and life.
I'd bet my favorite Harry Potter replica wand that Mythal was sacrificed by the Evanuris in an attempt to gain more power, which, if they had succeeded, as Solas said, would've have destroyed the world.
Update: nearly made myself cry because slightly sad fic became sadder than expected. Can't I give this girl some peace and love before the pain that awaits her in the future? ![]()
So I came here to read your posts and try to take a break before I figure out just how to end this thing.

So I'm curious. If in future installments it does turn out to be true that Solas is being played, and he faces a betrayal or realizes that he's being compelled by something other than his own guilt or decisions to do whatever he is doing, would that take away from his role in the story? Or make him less of an antagonist in your eyes? I've been trying to figure this out for myself. On one hand, yay, he's not such a mad evil idiot, but on the other... isn't part of what makes him so fascinating right now is that he is so layered with his beliefs and guilt and goals and heartbreak? No one's agent but his own, sole responsibility for what he does on his shoulders alone. We can question his convictions, but his strength in standing by them is intriguing. So... I don't know. I'll be wrestling with this one for a few days.

I'm aiming for maybe slightly bittersweet since they do go on to have a significant relationship in spite of cultural expectations, but right now I'm trying to write comfort and figure out just how/where to wrap.

That's what I think too. She was turned against for her powerful blood needed possibly in a blood magic sacrifice. Solas says it was the last straw and he created the Veil when that happened and anything else would have resulted in the world being destroyed. Meaning that her blood possibly granted them unstoppable power and when the Veil falls, they will be released.

I'm already sad from Solas' fic. ![]()
Some bittersweet would be nice.
So here's my take on Solas.
Throughout the game, his disposition with my Inquisitor plummets due to the fact that I tend to side with the Templars. This is mostly due to my Inquisitor believing that this is the best way to have the populace rally around him, promoting order amidst the chaos. Also, I always spare the Wardens and recruit them, and I make Cole human. So for like 90% of the game, Solas hates the Inquisitor and I am greeted with a "Yes??"
or a "To what do I owe the pleasure???"
And I'm dismissed with a brusk "Of course." ![]()
I even get the rock bottom option to sock him in the face, but I never do it. I instead pick the sarcastic "you mad bro?" option which pisses him off even more.
But then things start to change. I take Solas to the Temple of Mythal because I feel that it is appropriate. Perhaps he has interesting things to say. Perhaps he would appreciate being there. So I bring him along. I spare the sentinel elves because I can't for the life of me think of a good reason to attack them. And I risk Iron Bull's disapproval (usually a huge no-no for me) by performing Mythal's rituals because I like puzzles. Finally, I let Morrigan drink from the well, because my Inquisitor isn't getting near that mess with a ten foot pole.
Needless to say, Solas's approval shoots through the roof, and here I am knocking on the door of the end game, and now suddenly Solas actually wants to talk. I get to ask him questions now and everything, which just starts an uncontrollable avalanche of approval. Suddenly he's asking me to help his friend, and I'm like, 'Don't make me like you, egg. Don't do it.'
But then I agree and I help his friend. So now, after hating each other for most of the game, suddenly the Inquisitor and Solas are on okay terms. Good terms even.
Which made the Trespasser ending even worse.
Solas, I want to wring your neck, but I'll admit that you are are good character. Never trust the quiet ones.

Is the player character not a human from our galaxy then? With an N7 logo on the armor in the trailer. Unless they try to explain that humans evolved independently in a different galaxy and used N7 on their armor as a logo for reasons? Not mocking you here, I am actually confused.

You've got to love how one character can make you go through a plethora of emotions.
