Ahhhhh... now that I like. Gosh, I might actually be coming around to this theory. I generally don't like to think that all of the defining events of the world have been influenced by the same few people because it makes the world seem... smaller, I guess?
But there's definitely something poetic in the dragon connection.
I like it too. And if we think about it, Mythal saved our HOF from dying at the beginning, saved Hawke from dying at the beginning and gave us the key to defeating Corypheus. It's all her influence.
So here's my take on Solas.
Throughout the game, his disposition with my Inquisitor plummets due to the fact that I tend to side with the Templars. This is mostly due to my Inquisitor believing that this is the best way to have the populace rally around him, promoting order amidst the chaos. Also, I always spare the Wardens and recruit them, and I make Cole human. So for like 90% of the game, Solas hates the Inquisitor and I am greeted with a "Yes??"
or a "To what do I owe the pleasure???"
And I'm dismissed with a brusk "Of course."
I even get the rock bottom option to sock him in the face, but I never do it. I instead pick the sarcastic "you mad bro?" option which pisses him off even more.
But then things start to change. I take Solas to the Temple of Mythal because I feel that it is appropriate. Perhaps he has interesting things to say. Perhaps he would appreciate being there. So bring him along. I spare the sentinel elves because I can't for the life of me think of a good reason to attack them. And I risk Iron Bull's disapproval (usually a huge no-no for me) by performing Mythal's rituals because I like puzzles. Finally, I let Morrigan drink from the well, because my Inquisitor isn't getting near that mess with a ten foot pole.
Needless to say, Solas's approval shoots through the roof, and here I am knocking on the door of the end game, and now suddenly Solas actually wants to talk. I get to ask him questions now and everything, which just starts an uncontrollable avalanche of approval. Suddenly he's asking me to help his friend, and I'm like 'Don't make me like you, egg. Don't do it.
But then I agree and I help his friend. So now, after hating each other for most of the game, suddenly the Inquisitor and Solas are on okay terms. Good terms even.
Which made the Trespasser ending even worse.
Solas, I want to wring your neck, but I'll admit that you are are good character. Never trust the quiet ones.
very true. we can't be trusted
we're all secretly planning the annihilation of all the extroverts of the world and our domination of the new world order: The World of The Lame Geeks.
Our president will be J.K. Rowling and the national pastime will be hellspiraling and f*cking around on tumblr.
Anways, besides that though ... I love your name XD Sandal is the maker. We should've seen it sooner. Those trash theorists had it right everyone.

he'd been trying to warn us all along
So I'm curious. If in future installments it does turn out to be true that Solas is being played, and he faces a betrayal or realizes that he's being compelled by something other than his own guilt or decisions to do whatever he is doing, would that take away from his role in the story? Or make him less of an antagonist in your eyes? I've been trying to figure this out for myself. On one hand, yay, he's not such a mad evil idiot, but on the other... isn't part of what makes him so fascinating right now is that he is so layered with his beliefs and guilt and goals and heartbreak? No one's agent but his own, sole responsibility for what he does on his shoulders alone. We can question his convictions, but his strength in standing by them is intriguing. So... I don't know. I'll be wrestling with this one for a few days.
They'll be careful to make sure not to cheapen his character, but we just don't have all of the pieces just yet. And I do think there's a larger game being played here --potentially--that could have a big impact. But whatever they've got planned, we have so many questions, still, and I appreciate that. Even when we got answers, and much of them answers we had already sorted out and guessed, it was still done in a satisfying way and one way that still only informs us of one more side while keeping others obscured for the future.
Is the player character not a human from our galaxy then? With an N7 logo on the armor in the trailer. Unless they try to explain that humans evolved independently in a different galaxy and used N7 on their armor as a logo for reasons? Not mocking you here, I am actually confused.
They have unveiled human promo art but they're tight-lipped if that's it, I think. They did confirm new galaxy though.

Hmmm... I just realized something. Someone here mentioned early they suspect Dirthamen betrayed Mythal? Could that be why when we see her in the Fade with Kieran, the Dirathmen statue is gushing blood and has been stabbed in the back over and over? This was discussed in another topic and it just struck me.
It has to all connect eventually. So far with know Mythal killed a Titan, the Void is possibly where the Blight comes from and is below ground in the Deep Roads since Darkspawn live there, everyone went mad with power (tainted maybe?) and killed Mythal. Solas created the Veil and took away the elves immortality, most likely sealing the Evanuris in the Black City (possibly Arlathan?). Whispers led the Magisters to the City, they accidentally unlocked a seal keeping the Blight in (probably it had spread before Solas sealed them) and can back with it. Corypheus says the place was already corrupted. All that we need to connect is the Old Gods, their prisons and why Mythal wanted one's soul.
It's all connected!

The Void
The Fade
The Crossroads
The Old Gods
The Dragons
The Creators
The Forgotten Ones
The Titans
The Magisters
The Maker
The Black City!!!
Haha, it is exiting how everything is tying together, but am I the only one that hopes not everything gets traced back to the Evanuris? I'd personally like a little mystery and ambiguity to be left with certain things, like I hope the Maker is never proven/disproven and same for Andraste being Mythal, a mage, or crazy.
And wouldn't it be great if the Evanuris do awaken you can combat them with forces that they don't understand.

woah woah woah woah WHAT???
explain please o-o
Yeah, it's cool how everything is falling into place.
One mystery I really want to find out about is why human + elf = human.

Yeah, I keep forgetting there's almost no information out yet since the game isn't scheduled for release until late next year.
So yeah .. Solas. And stuff!

I hope that it's not all completely connected either, but we do know it began with them.

When you go into the Fade with Morrigan, right where Mythal and Kieran are, above her is a Dirthamen statue and blood is gushing out of him and he has a sword stuck through his back. The blood shows he was stabbed brutally. Metaphor for backstabber? Heh.

To be honest I don't think they will ever state one way or another if the Maker is real or not. Because I think one of the big themes in the DA series is Faith. But still, yeah some things should still be a mystery. Honestly the Maker and even Andraste don't feature largely in the current problems. Well, yeah the Chantry and Templars have figured but not the Maker directly.

Right at the start. Look above Flemeth and Kieran right as you play the vid. That blood is gushing out of a back-stabbed Dirthamen statue.

I hope so! With people suggesting things like Mythal was Andraste and humans were created by elves too it makes me nervous that it's going to be true. I'd like to think that there's even mysteries/powers that the Evanuris don't understand.
Edit: Page top! I have no idea if this has been posted here before but here,
have some Avatar Solas.

He's always a hooded statue. You see him all over the Exalted Plains and in his temple.

It could be nothing, but I just thought it was odd it was him and right above where Mythal stood.

Didn't they full on confirm that they wouldn't? Maybe that's all in my head and I'm remembering wrong.

It's probably just a reference to the Evanuris in relation to Mythal. The specifics aren't exactly important, though it does allude even more to the relationship between Flemythal and the Evanuris. Interesting to think about

They did confirm it. I forgot where though.
