Okay, I'm calling it now.  Voth is another ancient elf/agent of Fen'Harel, tucked in the very bosom of the Inquisition.  It's always the quiet ones.  If you don't know what I'm talking about, then I told you so.

Yep, that' show I interpreted that line for my Lavellan. They did the deed at some point. But, I haven't decided my head cannon on a few things regarding a sexual relationship for them:

 

-Did they have sex only once or were they lovers, perhaps shared a tent, until he broke up with her?

-Did she wait to tell him she loved him until the break up scene or had she told him before? If they were regularly having sex I feel like this topic would have come up before then?

-When did they first do the deed? I'm thinking the night of the ball as they both seemed so relaxed and happy together. However, I get a bit worried that Solas was inebriated and don't want to think Lavellan took advantage.

Whatever you feel is right for your character. Seriously, no right or wrong here. It also gets down to how you'd characterize their relationship.

 

In mine, they were carrying on a relationship, shared a tent, all those things. I also base this a bit on the evolution of Solas and Lavellan's body language changes over the course of a romance playthrough. From tentative but high desire Fade kisses to the balcony, to later at the ball, there's a greater physical intimacy there with things like his hand on her lower back (that is 'familar with your body' intimacy to me, though it doesn't have to be sexual for those who don't headcanon that way, but physical intimacy - oh yes). And in Crestwood, they never stop touching until he ends it.

So, as I am playing through this game for the 5th time, I am starting to notice a repeating patterned. History is continually repeating itself in the world of Thedas. Mythal, rises to power, is a supposed force for good, betrayed.....dead. Andraste rises to power, is a supposed force for good, betrayed....dead. Quizy rises to power, ......anyway you see the point I am trying to make here. It makes me think of something that Flemythal stated about "So long as the music plays...". It is extremely concerning.

Anyhow, I'm off to the fade. Which reminds me, last night I think I dreamt I told Solas I liked the wrinkles around his eyes when he smiles? I think I saw an image where he had slight crows feet .

It really is.  My mom, dad, cousin, and boyfriend all had birthdays this month o.o

 

Mine is next week and my dad's is a week after that and I know a whole lot of people born around this time. Making birthday plans has always been a bit of a pain since there are so many and a lot of us have mutual friends. And my closest friend is getting married next weekend. So I fake yelled at him for taking my pre-birthday weekend out of the running for making plans this year.

Ok, now that some time has passed and I'm less angry, I can see that Solas is not as cold as I originally thought in regards to the dialogue at the end of trespasser. It does look like he is having a hard time letting go of Lavellan. I do wish that the kiss was better animated though. Lavellan puckering up her lips like that is just weird.

Well, for some of us, the Alistair romance had both drama and fluff and ended in a wedding. But it was playing a Cousland Warden, then Hawke, that made me decide to play Dalish in DAI. I was tired of 1)Humans 2) nobles.

 

And I am very glad I did.

Yeah, my first playthorugh I chose to make Anora the solo ruler, and no, I didn't have to deal with the Hawke vs Alistiar because Alistair decided he was going to steal my Amell's kill -.- she did not approve.

 

Well the first time i play DA:O i got dumped in the end cuz i was elf and a mage....

I said a lot of times - im NOT romancing anyone in Da 4, im just afraid what ill choose this time, and I for sure will stay away from apostates....

I also seem to pick the worst ones the first time around. I romanced LAistair first, preferred Zevran, romanced Anders first, vastly preferred Fenris... romanced Solas first and he's still my favorite XD I have an elf thing!

 

Yep   . I was more going along the lines of "communication/sharing/knowing"  as in current world being cut off from the fade. I know Im not very good with metaphors lol. My point was rather going about a solas before meeting a friend inqy and the low approval meeting with Trespasser Solas suggests that inqy is the main reason he changes his views on modern people. He's really cold if he dislikes the inquisitor. He still doesnt want anyone hurt but he comes off as he couldnt really give a danm as well so unless your inqy is his love or friend I dont think he really see's any beauty in the modern world?? 

Oh, I thought you were just trying to make all of Solas's actions more sympathetic, even for a romance  

I think the technology=Fade analogy was a good one!

 

I've seen people (mostly on tumblr - which also tends to have huge issues with anyone who goes Templar side which just makes me very tempted to make the most pro-Templar, pro Chantry character ever) saying that Bioware should never have even offered option X (usually Tranquillity, but feel free to add anything problematic in here) but I think that's missing the point of an RPG.  If anything I think there should've been MORE options like that.  I wouldn't have taken them, but they should be there for the RP drama.

I agree, I like to play different characters and the more options just adds more variety opportunities. If I want to play an a**hole don't try to force feed me goodness!

I think he probably does, but Lavellan is ultimately yet another victim of his actions, and the more he loves her, the worse he feels. First of all, his actions nearly get her killed at the conclave, and then she survives, only to have the mark/anchor (his magic) threaten to destroy her in the end anyway. Now she's physically mutilated and has lost her arm, because of him. She and her people (modern elves) were harmed and are suffering because of him. It's his fault.

I think he simply can't accept her or the world, because that would mean having to face the guilt, and all the death he's caused. Its too horrific to him and Lavellan is a symbol of all that. He justifies destroying her world, almost like putting down a sick/dying dog, so it won't suffer. He even say as much himself, how he'd rather them go out peacefully. It's twisted and monsterous and sad. He might succeed in restoring the world as it was, but it could never be the same. Even if everyone somehow survived it, they would all be changed. What makes the current world different and unique would all be lost.

Man, I finally just finished the game yesterday, and romanced Solas is so dark and haunting and disturbing, and beautiful at the same time. Gah. What a good DLC....definitely worth the wait. I'm a bit surprised though how they ended it with the hint of a new story arc for the Inquisitor....I wasn't expecting that. Does this mean they might continue the story in DA4? That would be wonderful, if so. I was so excited to see Quizzy stabbing Tevinter on the map!

If Solas was sober enough to watch my Lavellan's back as they're fighting against Corypheus's agents than he is definitely sober enough to consent to sex! Anyway, I don't know why everyone always makes comments about him being so drunk. He made a comment about the continual consumption of alcohol, but why does that mean he was sh**-faced?

I just don't look at her during that last kiss animation.  And I honestly can't blame Solas for being a little cold, since the next time they meet, my Lavellan's going to be more reserved herself.  She can't afford to break down with feels either.  They're at an impasse; they love each other very much, but neither is willing to prioritize love over saving their respective worlds.

You know, I had the same thought, and then I got all confused about whether or not Solas' plan is really ethically wrong from an objective perspective. o_O  Also remembered what happened to Solas' spirit friend in the the Exalted Plains--looks like matter is neither created nor destroyed in Thedas, either--and I think maybe Solas figures that most people will be reincarnated into a better world (even if they don't have their memories), so it's okay? 

God only knows at this point, honestly. I do want to know more details about this plan, including how he actually intends to accomplish it (no blood sacrifice, please), but overall ... Solas makes my heart head hurt!

Sorry if my Abelas comments sometimes sound like I'm anti-Abelas.  I'm not.  I just... don't get the appeal?  He's a character with about 10 minutes of screentime and yet from this he's apparently a better character and LI candidate than Soasl?  And I just don't get it because I barely noticed him when I first played.  He was just 'hooded ancient elf guy I managed to ally with'.

 

I appreciate the apology, but it wasn't your comment, it was the "Abelas is the poor Lavellans Solas" one. I totally get that some people don't like him or even notice him; I didn't care much about him until reading people talking about him in this thread (oh the irony) There are characters I despise or find boring and other people love them to pieces; that it's ok, that's what people are, we have different tastes and that makes the world interesting. What I don't get is the need to have your tastes universally validated by universally invalidating other people's; you don't need to talk trash about Abelas to express your love for Solas. Again, I'm not talking about you especifically. Mostly I just ignore the Abelas is boring comments, but that one about being the poor Lavellan version was pretty offensive. 

 

I don't know about Abelas being a better LI than Solas. In the Abelas thread we are hoping against hope that he is in DA4 and is an LI (it's highly unlikely, I know) I can't speak for others, but to me it's neither better nor worse an LI than Solas. I think Abelas has the potential to be a very interesting companion and would definitely love the chance to explore a romantic relationship with him. That has nothing to do with the Solas romance, which I love with a passion and more so after Trespasser. I will keep my Lavellan for Solas only and would romance Abelas with a new character. 

 

Some people are understandably tired with all the drama in the Solavellan, or feel betrayed after the revelations of Trespasser, and want to move on to romancing other characters. Abelas is a good candidate for some. That's not the path I want for my Lavellan, but I can understand others do.

Oh, this is beautiful. Hadn't thought about the increasing levels of touching as an indication of their intimacy. Love that thought! Okay, so with that in mind, I head cannon that they had sex after the ball and continued to be lovers until the break up scene. She'd told him she loved him before the break up scene as well and said it again during the break up scene so that he would be reminded of how strongly she feels for him. Thanks for helping me work through that!

lol, yeah, Lavellan wouldn't let a drunk ass have her back. Good point. I'll just head cannon that he cut himself off before he got too drunk but he felt good enough to act a bit more carefree at the ball.

 

ETA: And, the reason I suspected he might be tipsy was the fact that he was so relaxed and let his guard down to the point where he slipped up about being at a ball before.

I can't have my Lavellan fall in love with anyone else.  It's depressing and tragic and sad and horrible BUT... there's no way around it.  Nope, nope.  She's stuck in Solavellan hell and I will never allow her to be free ಥ⌣ಥ
