For all the lovelies in here of all opinions, you make this thread great! Awesome conversation, awesome theories, awesome debate, we've got it all!
Solas thread is best thread, bar none!
But... don't all people in Thedas go to the Fade when they dream?
Yes, most of them. But the Anchor let you dream with intense focus and clarity and a degree of control that is uncommon. Not surprising, given it came from Solas' power.
The loss of the Anchor, thus, would downgrade you to normal dreaming.

Very very good point. A non-mage Lavellan would have a very hard time communicating with Solas after losing the anchor. It would be like seeing flashes of him and not truly understanding what's happening. That must be a very stressful situation to be in. ![]()
I never thought about that. It must suck for a non-mage!Lavellan to keep seeing Solas in her dreams, and having barely any control in what she does and maybe not fully remembering what happened when she wakes up. Makes me feel very bad for her. Solas definitely has the upper-hand in that situation. She can't seek him out but he can seek her. He can leave with her barely even protesting. Nuh uh not cool. I would be very disoriented and upset in that situation.
Happy 5000!
As for muggle Lavellans, I figure that if people IRL can teach themselves to lucid dream without any magic, people in Thedas can too. Solas says that anyone who can dream can befriend a spirit, and I would imagine that you have to have some awareness to befriend anything in the Fade. Also mine made bros with Hakkon after his rebirth. She's never going to have the same clarity that she had with the Anchor, nor can she defend herself like a mage. But she's aware that she's dreaming, and she has some protection against nightmares.
Yep! People express their honest opinions about characters here and that's fine. I commented about Abelas because someone else brought him up and it wasn't particularly nice, I guess, but I just don't find him to be even an iota as interesting as Solas (naturally, since we saw him for like 5 minutes in game only). That's all I said! Nobody complained when some were going off about Anders. We can't pick and choose who we get to be honest about in this thread.
I'd say we just avoid getting too far into a Solas vs. anyone debate in here. We actually did have a whole little passive aggressive spat months ago that stemmed from the amount of Abelas talk and praising in the thread and the perceived simultaneous bashing of Solas. It was a silly time that definitely doesn't need a continuation.
I agree totally with what you just said. But that's my point, any conflict was months ago. I don't think it's fair for anyone on either side of any particular conflict to be holding onto things that happened months ago. On the internet that's like in the dark ages, months ago is so long ago. ![]()
Anyways I adore everyone in here and I like it better when we're having a good time whether it be debating, gushing, being silly, coming up with crazy theories, or making fun of ourselves.
I promise, no more talk of it. Just wanted to respond.

Solas does say if you ask him that anyone who can dream can roam the Fade and befriend spirits - but only a few ever try.
Also - I assume that even with the Anchor gone, the connection Quizzy has to the Fade stays... depending how accepting they are of it and how much they've learned, of course. I mean, Solas may be an ancient elf and all, but he didn't have a Mark himself to explore the Fade the way he did. So if he gave Quizzy the tools and knowledge to roam it, I can't see any reason why they can't make use of it.
.... In fact, with everything that transpired and with wealth of knowledge locked beyond the Veil, I wouldn't be surprised if Inquisitor would have to explore the Fade to get to know more (well duh, Lavellan's epilogue cards rather clearly imply that she does exactly that).
OUT OF LIKES
to all of you falons!!!!!!!
But... don't all people in Thedas go to the Fade when they dream?
Here in the real world, we know that "dreams" are just pictures or videos in our minds. In Thedas, they say it's this ever-present place where all people go when they sleep and when they die. When you sleep and "dream," your spirit is just leaving your body or connecting with the Fade. Being a dwarf or made Tranquil makes it so you can't dream because you're now cut off from the Fade.
In that sense, there is no "normal dreams" in Thedas. Based on Feynriel's dreams in DA2, it seems like all people you see in dreams are just spirits sensing your emotions/desires and taking the form of people you remember or would like to meet to enact scenarios you might desire (being home with your family, being accepted for the first time, meeting your hero, etc) or fear (in the case of nightmares).
So, if your Lavellan dreaming that you're having sex with Solas, and it's not really him, then it's likely a desire demon who senses what you want, and takes the form of Solas to feed and feed off your desire in the Fade.
Well as normal as Thedas dreams can be XD Mages have way more control over the Fade than regular people. The talking to spirits and what have you in your dreams is only something mages can do.
The talking to spirits and what have you in your dreams is only something mages can do.
The Avvar all connect, befriend, and interact with spirits, even their non-mages.

I hope so. I really don't want any Lavellan to have to stress out over Solas stalking them and them not being able to truly understand what's going on or seek him out in return. Personally, I would feel almost invaded if I didn't have enough focus/power to at least seek him out or remember him when I woke up. The anxiety caused by that would really hurt me.
No matter what, the non-mage!Lavellan would have to vigorously train themselves to lucid dream, and even that would be stressful considering it's not an easy thing to do for anyone, especially not a mage. I feel very bad for any Lavellan that has to go through all that anxiety, on top of knowing their boyfriend wants to destroy the world and trying to figure out how to stop him ![]()

This. (I'm out of likes)
Everything in the Fade is influenced by your state of mind. Quizzy had the anchor for a long time (~5 years by the end of Tresspasser). It's not too far fetched to assume that during that time their mind has evolved enough that even without the mark they'll be capable of more focused and powerful dreams than the average Thedosian. The mark is a very convenient pair of training wheels, but once they're off, you can still try riding the bike.
Yeah, there has to be some solution when it comes to spirits. My Lavellan wants to at least retain her connection with Cole on some level, even though she trusts and knows he'll do whatever he can to help both of them. Cole and Dorian were pretty much the closest to her and with Dorian away and Cole back in the Fade, it's a difficult adjustment at times. Leliana is the close friend she still has in relative proximity, though Cassandra isn't always so far off.

Sure, but she could very well have done it during DA:I, when she had the Anchor to help her along. In my headcanon (stressing, just headcanon though I think it's not outlandish), one of the first things Lavellan asked Solas to teach her was lucid dreaming.
Losing the Anchor doesn't mean you lose the skill. It's like the loss of the arm; it makes everything harder, and it makes some things nearly impossible, but you're not totally SOL.
