I forgot to mention:

She's disabled from a car accident she got into with her dad coming back from Ballet practice when she was 12 (if I'm recalling correctly). She's had depression on and off but she's very strong willed and has a bit of a temper. She loves playing DA and it is her escape from the real world. A big thing she dreams about is running around with working legs in Thedas in a world where imagination defines reality. She wishes that just believing in herself could create miracles, unlike just wishing she could walk does nothing.

That's a summary of her. opinions? x-x

I do love them. Right now it's just a few lines that came to me on my walk.... I considered giving them something fluffy after my last story but then those lines came to me. Typical. But the first clan visit story will have to come before, since the post-Trespasser one will reference it. Post-Trespasser takes place about 17 years after that last one so some things are certainly different.

I'm looking forward to it.

And it's your vision, but at least to me it wouldn't matter if you write the second visit first. Even if you reference something in the past that is not 100% revealed, it will only make it more interesting to read the first visit and then re-read the second. But that's just me.

Sometimes I do totally write things out of order but I think doing one first, then the other will just help me with structure. Practical for once. A lot is in my head.

Soo I started this fanfic and haven't posted any of it (it's around 4 chapters, 20,000 words?) and it's about modern girl ending up in Thedas after having played Trespasser and trying to figure out wth to do and if she should stop Solas etc. 

 

I just wanna know at which point of the story you would want to be dumped into. Would you want to become the inquisitor, be friends with the inquisitor, be an elf, be human, etc. 

 

What I've written so far, she becomes an elf and the inquisitor and falls in during the conclave explosion, but I'm considering rewriting it. opinions? 

 

edit: or maybe I could have her just having had bought the DLC, so it's a surprise later. not sure yet but I can go back and fix whenever

 

Sadly (as in I'm sad not you!) I actually have one of these in the works as well.... My character is not the Inquisitor and is found outside of Redcliff just before they meet the Mages. Like they literally tripped over her closing the rift with all the time displacements.  My Inquisitor is a Female rogue Trevelyan, and Mia pretty much leaves her in Solas' care.

 

And of course she is an elf and a mage and because I started karate at age 13 with my brother I'm bringing with me lots of combat skills, and a wolf/husky hybrid (no I don't have one yet, but one day I will dammit!) She also doesn't have any vallaslin. She has light violet eyes because since I was twenty I have used purple colored contacts and I'd feel weird without them.

 

 

Please be kind this is my first attempt at a sketch, it's centered badly and I know there are some scale issues, but in my defense I never took a formal art class, ever, I had convinced myself that I had not talent. Yet everyone else in my family is a very talented artist in at least one medium. My grandmother, mother sister and both of my girls.

To me it wouldn't matter whether she's an elf our not, as long as she's an interesting character. It would be fun to learn what characteristics she brings from our modern time that you wouldn't fund in Thedas. Her faith? Her ideas about justice and politics? Fear of blood and fights in a world that's all about fighting? Is she a New York city survival specialist who now has to make it in the Emerald Graves?

As to when to start: because she's dumped in a very different setting, I feel it would be easiest and make most sense to start from the beginning. Have her come out of that rift and then deal with OMG I'm in THEDAS. But then maybe skip some events in the middle to avoid things going too slow.

Just my thoughts. Hope that helps!

Also, very good advice the reason why I wanted her elven is because I wanted her trying to assimilate into the Thedas, so nobody is suspicious. Also, there's a super story reason that makes her soul actually elven buuuut ... that's a secret lol XD 

 

Yea and the beginning is where I have her dumping in right now. thought that would make it easier for the story to flow. 

 

btw she gets working legs so there's a whole problem where she doesn't know how to walk anymore. kinda funny that. also she gets magic. that causes problems lol and she doesn't take Solas's crap ... and kinda gets into some fights with him ... but it is a solas romance soooo

 

a main worry of mine is that her story is too sad, with her past disability and all.

Funny we seem to have the same mind set. Mythal has plans for her as well. But I had this crazy theory before trespasser that the Pantheon were actually brought through from other worlds and this is one of the reasons they have such power. I figure what the hey it's my fantasy right?  I don't know if I will ever publish it, but it has been fun to write so far.

Then there are numerous one shots that wouldn't work in any story that get written as well.

2. What was your Lavellan (and you) feeling when they first realized they'd confront Solas soon after two years of absence?

She was worried about him, there was some strange stuff happening, they had found him, Cole was saying Cole things that heightened her feelings, it was many things at once...worry, nerves, love rising back.

 

 3. What did you reply with when Solas said "I suspect you have questions."?

"I came to find you." - Because she had. She was worried and wanted to help him.

 

4. "May the Dread Wolf take you", how did you reply?

 "Yes, ironically"

 

Perfect balance of sadness, hurt, worry, and anger without being OOC angry. She demands the truth but appeals to his emotions after he apologizes.

 

5. When Solas says "I will save the Elven people, even if it means this world must die." how do you reply?

 "I agree with your goals" - I usually take the special dialogue options unless it seems really out of character. This was before he revealed the bulk of his plans and she was still worried about him, didn't want him to go off alone, maybe thought she could change him. So she offered to go with him.

 

6. When Solas tells you that he would of torn down the Veil if things went according to plan you replied with?

"Truly?" - And this also added to the pile of sad. But it's one of my favorite exchanges out of the whole thing. Lavellan believed better of him.

 

 

7. When Solas completely changes the topic to the Inquisition, what do you say to him?

"I appreciate it" - not entirely fond of this but it was not out of character.

 

8. How did you respond to him telling you that your Inquisition was corrupted?

It's not too late. I'd have to think about this further.

 

12. To disband, or not to disband, that is the question? And what was your emotional state?

 

I didn't disband. Left the Inquisition to keep the peace under Divine Leliana, who my Lavellan is close to and trusts very deeply.

 

13. Were you satisfied with the ending?

 

It went beyond my expectations for how well done it was, how simultaneously satisfying and how many new questions it brought up. As far as Solavellan content, Weekes took care of us.

 

14. What does your Lavellan do next?

It's a hard adjustment for her. Dorian is leaving again, Cole went back to the Fade. Leliana is her only close friend in proximity.  While the inquisition is reorganizing, one of her first steps is figuring out what to do for her arm. She has trained in and used daggers for 20 years. It's a big adjustment. Dagna will help. Varric asks Bianca, who sends something over. Nirwen's little brother (Rodan) is apprenticed to the Inquisition, training as an armorer/craftsman and he wants to help too in some way.  After she has something sorted, it's time to continue with plans and travel with her brother back to warn her clan.

Oh yea that can get kinda complicated. Usually I like to just focus on one at a time, and since I have trouble having the time to write, I don't always finish chapters routinely, so I like to focus, write a lot, and than post over a long period of time so I can deal with real life things. 

 

Focusing on one story is most efficient, but new stories do keep you writing if other ones get old, so that's always a good thing. In the end, I see it as that you should do whatever corresponds with what you want to accomplish, and whatever makes you happy. If you want to make a more popular fic, it would be good to focus on it so that you can keep your readers and get chapters out in a timely manner. If you just wanna write, then go wild, especially if you don't care about what others think. 

 

My last fic was really routine ("one chapter every Sunday") and all the chapters were all around a certain length etc. This stressed me out, and the pressure from my followers who wanted to know what happened right away really got to me, even though it wasn't even popular. Having anyone follow my work stressed me out too much. So now I'm just writing without posting and it's way more fun. This seems like what your doing too, and since that's the case, focusing on one story isn't really important. Just be you XD

It's funny, I wrote something that was so dear to me and wrecked my soul trying to put it together and nobody cared. Then I wrote other stuff that was just spur of the moment when I had some free time and at least at few people seemed to like it. So, you never know.

So true. Same thing happens to me. I spend a crapload of feels and time into something, and nobody likes it. I make something silly and funny and apparently it's amazing and the best thing they've ever read, even if it took me less than 20 minutes. Writing is so subjective that trying to read the minds of your audience is just more stress than it's worth. Just write whatever.

I did publish one short post-trespasser fic. The one I posted here many many pages back after I cleaned it up a bit. I was pleased that at least 30 people read it even if no one on Fanfic commented.

 

I would like to publish at least one of them in the future but I want a number of chapters written before I start that way I can keep writing and have plenty that is already complete to post as I continue. I may run it congruent with my Trevelyan story. Like if you want to know more about the other heroines life read her separate story but it's not necessary to read for either kind of thing. I think this would be best rather than combine the two as that might make it too confusing or way too long. If I did something like that and keep the whole ancient elf in modern Thedas story going there would be three. Yikes! I think I need more time on my hands to do that!
