So people, I'm replaying Trespasser, and I'm in the Deep Roads and where you find the gaatlok primers, there are a load of coffins. Are they elves in uthenera, do you think?  (or were, anyway, since that whole area gets flooded so .. welp). Cole makes some comment about them that I can't remember cos I've been up all night with my baby :/ How many more d'you think there could be around Thedas? Maybe that's what'll happen  when Solas brings down the veil. All the (potentially thousands) sleeping Elvhen everywhere (who were quite possibly the 'Javiks' of elvhen society, warriors etc) will wake up and be really grumpy at what's happened - right now their bodies and spirits are sundered because of the veil, their physical and spiritual selves can't 'find' each other. Maybe that's why Solas was so weak when he woke up, because it took an awful lot of power (and a lunar eclipse!) to connect his body and spirit through the veil, and most elvhen just don't have that kind of power. 

 

Sorry if I'm just stating the bleeding obvious here, my brain no longer works.

 

Also, Frank suggested in his amazing lore thread that the Evanuris prison was not permanent. So Solas created the veil as a temporary solution, maybe always intending to wake when he did, when the more permanent plan was ready? But in the meantime, human actions (war, bloodshed) have weakened the veil perhaps more than he anticipated, possibly allowing one or more of the Evanuris (my money's on Dirthamen. he's sneaky) to escape ahead of schedule? I'm convinced that somehow at least one more of the gods is in play right now, but keeping themselves below radar. I could however, be talking out of my arse.

 

What do you reckon?

 

Edit: I hope we go to the Tirashan in the next game or so - it's been added to my list of places I really want to see - like the mage prison at Aeonar and the Necropolis in Nevarra.

 

If this is true, then Bioware is really messing with us. They build up Solas as this controversial anti-villian and if he is doing what he is doing out of necessity, then he will end up becoming a hero.

Who knows? I wouldn't put anything past the writers. And I do believe it may turn out that there is a degree of necessity in what Solas is doing.

Didn't the elves in the Tirashan have red vallaslin? 

 

I thought maybe Andruil related.

 

They do! Red vallaslin, and they hunt trespassers by offering them up to their gods. Seems like "human[elf]" sacrifice was practiced by some of the evanuris, maybe some of their followers are still continuing it.

 

Then again, it could also be ancient elves or rebels attempting to spook people from looking too closely into what they're doing.

Oddly, some of the ancient elves from the temple of Mythal fought like rogues or warriors. Was that an oversight? Or perhaps despite being mages many elves choose to learn to fight with blades as well? 

 

But, that actually makes all the sense, how Tevinter, the first true human civilization, was an magocracy. We can assume that most humans were mages as well. So of course, during those times, mages ruled. But it still strikes me as odd how Tevinter have no records whatsoever of the creation of the Veil. One would think that people would write down such an cataclismic event. 

 

I don't think it was an oversight, I think that not all elves had enough magical potential to wield it as a weapon, like there are many magic apprentices in Thedas whose magic is just isn't strong enough to be used on the battlefield.

Magic was natural like breathing doesn't not equate to all elves fought with magic.

Great job on your quizzies! I especially love the eyes; they almost glow! I've seen many people try to achieve that glowy affect and end up in ugly neon territory! Nicely done!

I have totally not informed mine that I started writing fanfiction because he's judgey about that stuff.  He already looks down on my enjoyment of DA and appreciation for Solas that he can't understand because he hasn't finished the game he thinks is so terrible and yet doesn't want me to spoil anything. It's annoying but I share with friends and here.
 

 

Mine would be fine with me doing it.  I used to for Harry Potter.  However he still teases me about it. To this day over seven+ years since it's happened.  I'm really close to it being worth the teasing.  REALLY CLOSE!

I feel like I have some very twisted and weird taste when come to character customization. I have sick obsession with unhealthy pale skin.
Personal preference I guess, but sometimes it's oddly satisfying.

Awh thanks Shari, though I more or less traced it as an under layer . I also was using inkscape which is apparently meant for vector art, oops! It's definitely been a change from drawing with my trusty lead pencil .

 

I am not familiar with inkscape, but if you could get your hands on Manga Studio I'd recommend, the tools there are really good (when I draw with the pencil it feels like paper) and it's practically build for a tablet.

What size is your wacom?
