Just realised I stated "find bits of... them", I didn't mean I wanted to find literally bits of his parents! Yes I am a necromancer, why are you looking at me like that!?
.
I'd like to see him comment on the necromancer specialty if you find bits of his parents...
I'm having fun looking at everyone's vallaslin. June has (or had, I suppose) a lot of lovely vhenans ![]()
Poor Dorian dont deserve it but he will have to wait a bit more, may be few more DA 2 playthroughs and few more Solas romances....
You can always use Cheat Engine to bump up Solas's approval if you're on PC. Or go hunting for more elvhen artifacts (which he's totally not using to bring down the Veil)
And yes, there is that awkward approval state where you're not positive enough to get dialogue, but not negative enough to get disapproval dialogue either. I was in that state with Viv in my Dorian-mancing playthrough...until I Tranquilled Erimond. She's like the only person who gives a substantial approval bump for that ![]()
Everyone's Lavellans are so pretty! By the time I get this stealth-typed at work I expect the topic will have moved on, but nonetheless....Ana'ire Lavellan. Late 20s-ish, rift mage specialty but mostly fire/electricity.Spoiler

Out of likes
She's lovely!

That's been on my mind as well, I wrote it into my fic, because I really wanted to make him a little more... err, human... or just like a regular person.
One of them must've had a cleft chin (dominant trait). Also I imagine them seriously loving each other. That he wishes he could have the kind of love with Lavellan that his parents had for each other. And the hot-blooded and cocky temper? Inherited from his mom.
I think he misses them. Immortality does not prepare you well to deal with the death of your parents, and in my HC they died during the war, before he launched his rebellion.
I like how you've dragged in both genetics and feels in just a few short lines. ![]()
But I also figure my Lavellan's purple eyes came from somewhere, and it's not too common, so she shares them with her father, while her mother and siblings have green.
I don't get how the likes system work.
I ran out of likes a couple of minutes ago, and then something happened and I managed to "like" something, so I started liking previous comment and then ran out of likes again!
What is that magical something?
Blood magic?
Though this time around, I think the game engine has been (mostly) good for making attractive characters who still look like people. For example, none of Square Enix's characters look like human beings to me, even though they're gorgeous. But Josie looks like a real person, and she's stunning.
I make no secret of what I think about Cassandra. ![]()
So many pretty Lavellans! Here are mine, though I've shown them off before -
Luca, age 36 as of Trespasser, an assassin two-handed rogue with a diplomatic, driven and emotional personality, her best friend out of the inner circle is probably Cassandra. All my pics of her after she loses her vallaslin are so sad. ![]()
Ellana Laderalan Lavellan - "Lana", age 25, a knight enchanter mage, very smart, sarcastic, has no fucks to give about the Chantry or the Circles, but is completely willing to lie and pretend, to smooth things over with people like Vivienne. She picks up the Game quite easily, and picks up on Solas' deceptions as well, but can't put the pieces together until she has more information. Her best friends in the inner circle are Varric and Josephine. She misses her family, and plans to go back to them eventually, and though she's romancing Solas, she's having serious doubts and is heavily considering dumping him for Cullen.
I make no secret of what I think about Cassandra.
I don't know if it's bad luck or what, but the female characters I want to romance are always heterosexual (Morrigan, Miranda Lawson, Cass). Alas ![]()

I'm not really sure how "dominant traits" and stuff works with elves - I mean, it's been said by the devs (even lately on PWs twitter) that elves don't really work in terms of genetics - it's all magic of some sort.
This is also why there are no half-elves - only elf-blooded humans or dwarves, which is more of a legal status rather than anything else.
I have been racking my brain, but I have not been able to come up with plausible theories on how exactly we are going to redeem Solas. He is the strongest opponent yet and knows way more than pretty much everyone on Thedas. He is also incredibly stubborn. It almost feels impossible to oppose him. He can turn everyone into stone by just looking at them. The only thing I can think of is to somehow come up with an alternative way to save the ancient elves. However, it seems pretty weird that Inky can come up with a better idea than someone who knows way more than her.
I'll have you know, Solas has always supported me in my necromantic ways. Necromantic
.
And Cee, you make me giggle

It's almost 6 a.m in kiwi-land, I need to get to the fade! *collapses*.

I don't really think his redemption will come in the form of Lavellan sitting him down and being like; "Well, this was an... interesting... first draft plan, but how about we workshop it a bit, hmm?'
I think it'll be a lot more to do with getting him to see that he needs to let go of the past.
Or rather, I hope that's the case.

This hasn't really happened to me until Cassandra. In Origins, I didn't like Morrigan, and it came down to Alistair or Leliana. Alistair won out. DAI is making me make my first male PC of the series. ![]()
Yas, I spied you posting FotC but held my identity back from you. I'm as bad as the Dread Wolf

Well the female characters I want to romance aren't even romance options (Aveline, Wynne, Samara). 8P Yes I said Wynne. I have a thing for the complicated spirit mages.
Wait for meeee
Here's my Arwen Lavellan, who managed to become my canon against all odds. I'm usually 100% rogue, but I really started to like the mage class with her. Too bad so many companions disapproved of learning necromancy, it's awesome.
Checking out Solas' lovely profile
Bonus:
In the beginning of Trespasser:
Lavellan: "Solas who? Yeah, I'm totally over Solas, I barely remember him, pfft."
In the end of Trespasser:
*All the feels are back 100fold*
This is not the face of having moved on.

Aveline and Samara would also be on my list.

Solas is older, more powerful, and immensely more knowledgeable. That doesn't mean he has better judgment.
But I don't think we're going to redeem him just by having a nice chat. First, he needs to be at a point where he'll even consider listening to reason; he clearly wasn't quite there as of Trespasser. And I think that means we'll have to challenge him. We will have to fight against his agents, stymie his plans, and (probably) cause him pain before he'll even hear out an alternative.

Hmm, I am pretty sure we can't redeem him without giving him an alternative because there appears to be lot of ancient elves or spirits that became messed up (archivist) after the veil was formed. I don't think he can be at peace knowing that they still need him.
I'm having fun looking at everyone's vallaslin. June has (or had, I suppose) a lot of lovely vhenans
Revas had Mythal's but it was really light, the picture I showed was post vallaslin. June was a luck ass though. ![]()

Or they will just pull a Legion on him, with an heroic sacrifice or what not. Something tells me Patrick doesn't like the idea of happy endings. At beast, you somehow miraculously convinces him to give up or change his plan, and the last we see is him and Lavellan entering a eluvian and going into the unknown, ala witch hunt.

Ah, Wynne! I wouldn't want to romance her but I still adore her character to no end. She's very grandmotherly.
No doubt she is one of my favourite characters from Dragon Age.

It is sometimes even more difficult for someone older to be able to look past the end of his own nose. Look at our oldest living generation now. Much more set in their ways, much harder to change their minds. They cling to the past. Solas does as well. He may as well tell you to get off his lawn.
