We must share.
Got to love different timezones. Everything intresting always happens when I am sleeping.
I know I'm late for the Lavellan party, but going to show my girl anyway as I started my canon playtrough yesterday.
*snip*
I'll catch up with rest of thread later, but I've to share my opinion about face knees. Face knees are so much better than what Sebastian has.
*sigh* Out of likes again.
1) Your Lavellan is precious. Freckles!
2) Face knees > prophet crotch.
Solas is a fairly reasonable person, really. The closest thing I remember to him being an actual jerk is when he calls Varric "Master Tethras" or "Child if the Stone". That kinda rubs me the wrong way.
Million pages late, but he is cold as ice to Dorian when discussing slavery.
Solas: If you wish to make amends for past transgressions, free the slaves of all races who live in Tevinter today.
Dorian: I... don't know that I can do that.
Solas: Then how sorry are you?
Dayyyyyyum. Boy was just trying to apologise, bruh.
(Not that I don't totally get it, but on my first playthrough I was just like '...well ****')
Urf. Played through it again. Can I just say I really love the part where he says he was 'Solas' before he was ever Fen'Harel? First off, I imagine his parents naming him as their 'pride and joy'. Insert years of young Solas learning to live and love and hate what the world became, so he had to become something more terrible to save it. ~sigh~
It really is like he shed the mantle when he was with the Inquisitor, and was just being himself. And to a romanced Lavellan (who was intimate), there were no false pretences when he laid with you. He was just Solas. Ugh. My heart. It breaks.

my heart breaks every time I go on this thread
I was trying to think of a name for my new rogue and I saw someone ask about names. I'm terrible with names. I usually just type them out at random..then abandon them and use a character that I like's name instead. Or look on a character/baby name site. So I made a list of possible suffixes(?) to make things easier or at least spark some ideas. If anyone can think of anything to add to it, please do!
Edit: @Chuchu - I was thinking about the same thing earlier! ![]()
I have hugs for everyone!

I don't think I can add much to the suffixes but a nice thing I do to figure out names is get deep into rp. For example, my head canon for my main Lavellan quissy is that she's Keeper Deshana's daughter, so I took a part of the Keeper's huge *ss name (it's so big I don't know why), "-oriel", and added L to make "Loriel" so that it seems that my quissy was named after her Keeper mom.
There's a huge well spring of rp everywhere in DA. Might take some time, but it's always cool to know that your quissy's name makes sense with their character and the DA universe

I borrowed my Lavellan's name partially from my ESO Altmer and now I love my Lavellan much more.
Ha, I just googled out of curiosity and found out that one could technically translate Nirwen's name, but this is based on Tolkien, not DA elven cypher.

Yep, this is weird. But she's mine and I can make something else up. But I like the 'cushion' concept as far as it may be considered someone who is a source of consolation, comfort, solace. So that's my new headcanon. ![]()
I would maybe just look at the DA wiki and see if anything pops out at you that you can adapt for names.
Nirwen is my rogue. Her sister is Elathyn, her mother is Etharla (DA wiki helped this one), and her friend and onetime love is named Nehnariel, but usually called Nehn (DA wiki gave me that one).
I'm kind of intuitive by nature so I just poke around until something feels right.
What is her personality like?

Nia was my mostly serious/studious character so I think she'll be more impulsive and fun/stabbity. (here is where my fiance would say "Just like you!"
) I was thinking of making her an assassin. The details aren't all worked out yet. I named her after my lost archer but I'm thinking of tweaking the DA:Keep save and going with a different name. I tend to be more intuitive with names too. Sometimes I look for names that mean a certain something and find one that works. Or like with Elia, my archer, just typing randomly and liking the sound of it. ![]()
Stanford prison experiment, anyone? This kind of system perpetuates horrible behavior in perfectly "normal" people. Add lyrium, and it's a wonder that the Circles lasted as long as they did.
They don't address what happens to the templars in the Trespasser epilogues, but if you get Cullen off lyrium and conscript them to the Inquisition, you can at least break their lyrium leash in the post-game epilogue. If Leliana is Divine, the Templar Order is permanently disbanded. If Cass is Divine, the Order is reformed without the use of lyrium. Baby steps, but it's certainly not a bad start.
(Basically don't make Viv Divine and you're mostly ok)
Ages ago - in a thread about setting up evil worldstates - I suggested that making Viv Divine on a mage ending was the closest you could get to an 'evil' worldstate as it wouldn't address any of the issues and just make things worse.
Immediately had Viv fanboys telling me I was clearly wrong (although it was actually one of the better debates I've had on the BSN).
I. Was. Right.
I could not have been more right.
I did seriously consider rolling a Trevelyan mage and conscripting the templars for precisely that reason. Because oh the delicious poetic justice
And I do think it's important to remember that what Lavellan knows and what we know are two different things. As a player, I know where Redcliffe goes without quizzy there to help. But she doesn't. She knows that the mages and templars are killing each other and innocent people indiscriminately. She knows the Chantry is paralyzed. And she knows she is the only one who can close the Breach, and she has no plan for Redcliffe beyond a desperate gambit. *I* knew that going to Therinfall would trigger that choice because the game told meBut my Lavellan just figured it'd be easier to ask from help from a bunch of guys in armor than a magister with time magic. She had no idea that Therinfall would also be FUBAR.
I wouldn't say I liked her in the books, but she was fine. Maybe it's just her VA. I found Briala's VA weirdly obnoxious too.
That is the reason my Trev mage will be siding with the Templars. Plus, she thinks she can get them to help deal with the Redcliffe issue because she has no idea siding with one cuts off the other.

I must say that Solas' armor in trespasser is amazing. I guess he doesn't actually LIKE looking like a hobo. He just wanted to be inconspicuous.
Actually there's some codex entries that suggest the apostate hobo look has always been his usual style. I think he's making a conscious effort to be Fen'Harel rather than Solas because being Solas will make everything too difficult.
Quick question: does Solas still offer to remove your vallaslin if you drank from the Well? I like the bitter irony going on there. Assuming my Lavellan hasn't met Mythal yet but obviously I'd wait on that a bit.

Yup!
He offers to remove your vallaslin whether you drank from the Well or not.

Yes, he did for mine.
Guys, important question - how do you name your Lavellans? I'm making a super aggressive Sera-mancing Lavellan (giving up on my Trev mage, she's just too boring), but I'm struggling to think up a good name for her.
oh god, "child of the stone" rubs me up the wrong way too, bleh bleh bleh. Solas doesn't understand dwarves at all and it makes his banters with Varric really painful.
I actually love Sera and Solas' dialogue. You get a sense of how very similar and very different they are at the same time. I always got the impression he's trying to reach out to her but just completely failing to do it well at all, rather than being actively patronising.
I use a fantasy name generator, or I'll look at Welsh and Irish names and pick one with a good meaning. I've used Project Elvhen a bit too, and dipped into Fire Emblem names.
I've always taken the Child of the Stone stuff to be Solas just being respectful. He tends to address people by titles which can make him sound a little formal. It just doesn't fit for Varric since he's a surface dwarf.
Ok now im 100% sure that we will see Flemeth again, when Hawke ask her if she's real she answer - ' Must I be in only one place? Bodies are such limiting things. '
So if you didnt kill Flemeth in DA:O , there is really 2 of her O.o
