I still want my "Together in Uthenera" ending, dammit! No, but seriously, I think that could be a good solution. Solas' could be really, really weak after he collapsed the Veil (raising it caused him to sleep for thousands of years) and instead of dying, he would most likely have to sleep for a long time. If we choose not to kill him, that is. So I could see a romanced Lavellan deciding to go with him into Uthenera - they wouldn't die, Solas wouldn't be able to cause any more harm and Quizzie would not have to be the main focus anymore. And they could still roam the Fade together and help rebuilt the world from within their dreams.

I see how that could work, but it doesn't feel tragic enough. It just seems too easy, as well as not complicated enough. 

 

I do agree with you in terms of that their spirits will be able to be together, in some sense anyways. I'm almost 100% sure they will "be together" in the end, just not in the way we might expect (as in some weird fade crap) 

 

edit: also, Solas is too metaphorical of a character to just have a simple ending, and because it's Lavellan's spirit that he loves, and his character is revolves around spirits so heavily (possible having originally been one himself) I think that he will revert to spirit form, and Lavellan can go with him, in some way. As I said, uthenera just seems too simple in comparison with the whole buttload of drama we've seen and what is obviously coming. 

 

Though I do hope we get uthenera, i just don't think it's likely x-x Would be nice though

I dunno, it could be very tragic. Lavellan would have to leave everything behind - her friends, her life, everything. She would go to sleep, knowing that she will wake up in a world that isn't hers. She would put herself in the same position that Solas was in. I think one could make a good story out of it, but I'm sure we don't have enough information to base this on, at the moment. I would like this ending, though. =)

 

Yeah, I think the most we can hope for is for them to be together as spirits, in what way however I do not know. It's certainly not going to be as easy as with Anders. The dude blew up a church, Solas plans to 'destroy' the whole world. Unlike Anders he wouldn't be able to just go and start a new life. As sad as that is. Ugh, Solas gives me way too many feels.

edit: Lavellan's choices in Inquisition effect if you can die with him, be with him forever, etc. he has to have been convinced that everyone is a person. Your quissy has to have chosen to change his heart at the end of Trespasser. 

This reminds me about Mordin from Mass Effect.

yea probably not straight up death. something much more meaningful and connected to the fade. it should be very heartfelt and beautiful

I think it depends on how the collapse of the Veil would effect the Elves - if we believe that creating the Veil caused them to start aging, then collapsing it could be the return of immortality for them. We don't know though, but it's a nice little thought. Or she would enter Uthenera, knowing that she would never wake up again. That would be...sad. Sad enough for Weekes? I dunno.

repeating eyelike shapes in the breach mural in the rotunda remind me of the shapes in that one new trespasser mural. rotunda mural shows the black city in the fade in the exploding breach. I therefore think the trespasser mural depicts the creation of the veil, see there in THAT red circle there is no black city because it wasnt there yet
 

 
A thought - in both of those pictures, the circle edge represents the veil. That would mean the circle at the centre is the black city, or the edge of it. The black city is at the deepest point of the fade, unable to be reached in dreams, meaning it makes sense at the centre here. It would definitely make sense for the rotunda - what's pictured is the breach, and Corypheus' goal was always to reach the black city again.

If so, what we have represented in the shattered library mural is multiple eyes - representative of Fen'harel's terrifying wolf form - surrounding the golden throne - as represented by a star/sun/light - i.e. where the Evanuris are likely trapped.
 
Which makes me wonder - in creating the veil, did Solas deliberately trap a part of himself in the fade, forever to guard the Evanuris from waking? The city itself isn't represented in the shattered library mural - so did that part of Solas form the black city? Become the black city? Embodies the black city?

If so that's really terrifying.

I mean I always assumed the black city was black because of the blight, but I imagine even within it, the Evanuris are individually trapped - as this mural indicates, most likely behind an eluvian of some kind. But if it's just really Fen'Harel... *shudders*

By the way, the fact that left elf in the titans mural has a shadow that looks like wolf ears makes me almost certain that in both murals Fen'Harel is on the left and Solas is on the right.

I suppose there's always a chance he could end up something like Mythal and "become" a part of a romanced Lavellan in the end. As far as I'm concerned that would be a kind of tragic end. Together forever for always and ever. Just not in the way you expect.

I thought it'd be like when you romance Fenris in DA2 and he walks out, but it's all cool because you can kiss and make up later.

that would be the worst for me id hate it. I want to be able to touch and communicate with solas if its possible? Even spirits can do this. Not cuddle myself to sleep. Would be tragic indeed though. Im still not sure how all that soul absorbing works but it would be, so close yet so far apart and it would be a lonely path like flemeths, fitting into new bodies and watching everyone around you die....nope. And Im almost 100% sure the veil is coming down. If it doesnt or at least something really drastic happens, then what is the whole point of Solas and Mythal and introducing all this new lore? If its to have a super special protagonists for the next game then siiiiggghh.

Guys, important question - how do you name your Lavellans? I'm making a super aggressive Sera-mancing Lavellan (giving up on my Trev mage, she's just too boring), but I'm struggling to think up a good name for her.

 

I always go to the dragonage.wikia site and search through their list of Elven words, then try to work out a combination I like.

 

My most recent name is Ven'inan. 'Ven' means 'to go' and 'inan' means 'inside place' or 'dwelling place' i.e windows to the soul. It's also the word for eyes. Put together it would be 'To go inside place', but elven language is very interpretive, so in this case my translation of her name means 'To go through the windows to the soul' or 'To go into the windows to the soul'. The 'to' can also be switched to 'of' so it would be 'To go through the windows of the soul' or 'To go into the windows of the soul'.

 

In a linguistic/grammatical sense this is probably not completely correct, but I like it and it works for me.

Mine isn't that bad though. Lotus seeds, those murals and other things only mildly irk me.

I can only be triggered by those holes on human skin. Even Blinky can only make me mildly uncomfortable.

God, no. He's not going for that. He looks like an elven commander or general now, which, in effect, he is. Even though he talks about walking this path alone, he has an entire network.

Trying to keep up with this thread is impossible! I've been gone a weekend and can't hope to catch up. Anyway, I know this is a few pages back and someone might have mentionned it already, but I wanted to chime in anyway. With that outfit, Solas looks like Abelas and the rest of Mythal's guardian, and I don't think it's a coincidence (unless they'Re just reusing art assets, which... they might, but meh). I agree with the theory that Solas was one of Mythal's guardians once, one of her wolves, as is seen so much in her imagery. He's become that again, I think. After all, he raised the veil once as a consequence of her murder...

I kind of 'warmed up' to Blinky. Now he doesn't bother me THAT much anymore. It's still uncomfortable, but it's a spider so many eyes are kind of expected. I only had one real episode caused by Trypophobia before - due to a really nasty image on facebook. My skin itched for the next two hours and I couldn't get the image out of my mind, so I watched television to distract me. Still, my breathing was a little irregular, I constantly scratched myself and I started sweating. Definitely not funny. I just cannot understand why it isn't classified as a real phobia.

I know everybody hates me saying this, but I really think he's going to die, and if any option is available to us in which he doesn't, there will probably be dire consequences, and Lavellan will probably be pulled into it, if she chooses to still be with him. 

 

what I can imagine: 

 

*impending elf doom (veil collapses), Solas's millennia of betrayal and manipulation finally rears its ugly face to bite him in the ass*

 

*if Lavellan redeemed him and convinced him of the wrongness of his ways, joins him in his doom Romeo and Juliet style*

 

*Solas and Lavellan's spirits are forever one, roaming the world together for new wisdom, even after death*

 

*queue everybody exploding from the feels*

But what about high approval Inquisitor who wants to save him?

If they die they will leave behind they loved ones, perhaps a lover, that's just pointless and sad.

If it goes exactly like irredeemable Solas route then it'll make players feel cheated, both because their relationship with Solas didn't matter and because Lavellan is only one to die. Her life is sad enough, why does she need that? Just because she loves the Dread Wolf and decides to try and save him she dies?

Between Solas and my Lavellan I'd rather he dies, just because she can deal with his death and will die out eventually, Solas will have to bear this for thousand of years more. Plus, Inquisitor is a symbol and potentially has many friends...

 

Death as redemption is so boring, Romeo and Juliet is too sad and annoying for me... If Solas collapses the Veil and sacrifices his life to right the wrong I'll feel cheated, because nothing will change and we'll lose a great character.

The small holes only gross me out, it's big ones like sinkholes that make me feel fear. Like that one in Guatemala. Also black holes. Even though I like learning about them..

 

I wrote a bit of psychological horror (Lovecraft style) about a big hole. If I know the fear I can write it better.
