Haha, I'm curious about the reasoning for this one. I was thinking about Mao.

Using the popular primary house secondary house system (which is nice because it expresses more variety and nuance than simply 'there are four types of people lol'), I think Solas is a Raverin - Ravenclaw primary, Slytherin secondary.
In contrast my Inquisitor (and me as well, actually) is a Gryfferin - Gryffindor primary, Slytherin secondary.
I've never heard of that. I like it!
In that case I am a Huffleclaw.
And my quizzie would probably be a Ravenpuff.
My first thought was Che Guevara, but I'm not very good with history, so I might not know facts that don't fit. All I know is he was a freedom fighter and a very polarizing figure.
The Dragon Age Keep needs to die a fiery death of fire. I can't get it to show me the Trespasser tiles even after following everything in the post they made on how to do it. I am suffering here. In angst. And anger.
But damn if the Solas tiles don't look awesome. And sad. And wow. ![]()

I always get Gryffindor and Hufflepuff on any sorting, but I'm definitely mostly Hufflepuff with a dash of the Gryffindor, so I usually say one but the combination does apply. Still, some of us have to be the squishy ones. ![]()
That would also fit my Lavellan too, I guess.
How so?
He was a brilliant innovator known predominantly for inventing dynamite. One of reasons he established Nobel Prizes is because he was racked with guilt over the death toll caused by his inventions.
Which historical figure do you think is most like Solas? Someone who has done a lot of good and a lot of harm, but the main motivation is for the well-being of the people. Someone who is brilliant and has made intelligent decisions, but also someone who has made really dumb ones that harmed a lot of people?
That's a really tough question. It's not a great comparison and there are many reasons why it's off, but Moses was said to lead his people out of Egypt to save them from slavery or whatever but at great cost (deaths of all firstborn children - children are innocent. etc). I don't think Moses was dumb the way Solas sometimes is, and of course Moses was following a god, but yeah. That's who his story sometimes reminds me of the most I think.
To add, Solas doesn't seem to think he's going to survive his quest to save the People and restore the world of the elves. Moses couldn't enter the Promised Land because instead of speaking to the rock to bring forth water like God told him to, he struck it which implied it was his work not God's. In this way he was punished for pride in some interpretations of the story.
Re: the house system
There are of course people who are purely one house or the other. The secondary house just adds space for more nuance and variety like in other personality systems. E.g. In enneagram there are 9 types each with two secondary possibilities, in MBTI there are 16.
HP houses are not a system in personality psychology the way those ones are but that's the reasoning for the fanon expansion.
I'm actually going to make Vivienne Divine once I finally play. She's grown on me, and no way she's going to let Solas mess up her world. I feel she'll be a really strong ally, if not a friend, to my Lavellan in the next few years.
Vivienne is a disaster as Divine.
Though she causes trouble for everyone anyway, in the end. My Lavellan didn't get along with her very well. I don't like her very much. As a character, she's underwritten (but acted quite well). But for my Trev mage, she's going to be her mentor.
I may have actually found a fluff thing to write about. It was originally planned as Solavellan fluff and I totally forgot about it but I think it may work to give these girls a happy moment.

Yay, I want more of the girls!

I've never heard of the concept of secondary houses. That'd explain why I constantly fluctuate between Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff depending on how I feel.
Thanks! I'm just a sucker for rivalmances
Who did your Warden romance?
May I introduce to you to the most wonderful Zevran Ariani?

I have a headcanon though where she has a pretty turbulent relationship with Leliana instead and ends up in the Inquisition because of it. She hates Solas too (at first, they become very good friends in the end).
Grrr...I hate when I can't find something.
I know someone drew some art of Solas and Lavellan dressed up as Erik and Christine months and months ago. Maybe Sunny can find it.
Still catching up to the thread so apologies if this has been shared already.
Here it is. Solas and Lavellan as Erik and Christine from Phantom of the Opera.

He freed the slaves...And had to turn the world on end ("destroying" the old world? To do it)...while facing seemingly insurmountable obstacles and fighting against the status quo and long-standing traditions. The Civil War changed the face of America and also the world.

It's true. He could have just let the south become independent and less people would have died. Oh gosh. I have to admit that Abraham Lincoln is the last person I thought of.

I've gotten pretty attached to them. I've said it before, but her relationship with Nehn, in all of its phases, is arguably as or more important as hers with Solas, just differently so.
I also thought about writing about Nirwen getting her vallaslin at some point, but that's not the fluff. ![]()

If we're going with controversial communists, I'd probably peg him as Trotsky.
Crucial figure - almost as crucial as Lenin - during the Russian revolution. Was known to be a brilliant tactician as the commander of the Red Army, and capable of being pretty ruthless to ensure order (see, for instance, how he crushed the Kronstadt rebellion). He was pretty intellectual too, even if Lenin was better known for it - has written a number of influential Marxist texts which are still used and applied to this day. He was also known for being slightly arrogant, a little haughty, bit of an arsehole tbh.
Eventually, after Lenin's premature death, a number of mistakes lead him to eventually live in exile, as he disagreed with Stalin on a number of fronts and represented a threat. Set up his own International to organise trotskyist organisations around the globe. Lived around the world, in secrecy, continuing to write. Had an affair with Frida Kahlo (who is probably Lavellen in this scenario). Eventually killed in Mexico by KGB agent via. an ice pick to the back of his head.
There's a number of things which are particularly Solas-y about this whole scenario, from the ruthless tactics and refusing to compromise politically, to making a number of political mistakes and living in exile, away from home, because of it.

I love their relationship, so far it's so sweet and simple, just... baby nug level hardcore sweetness. I'm really curious to see how it evolves once Solas comes along.

Stupid quote tags eat my responses ![]()
How Sophia gets her vallaslin is one of the first things I came up with and one of the absolutely hardest things to write. She really looked forward to that rite of passage and it ended up being more of a punishment. My HC is that she doesn't let Solas remove the vallaslin, because she wants to just keep a reminder of her mistake.
I'm curious of what it was like for Nirwen.
In fact, I'm curious if others have a story of how their Lavellans got their vallaslin.

I've embraced that I'm a squish. But don't underestimate squishy people.
So....I googled how to fanfic and wrote a thing. For science. And learning.
Gonna leave it here.
