The only reason the beard banter got heard was because fans dug around in files, but thanks to the banter bug people just assumed that it was one that never got heard.
Demon!Cole is from the original version of Subject to His Will where the choice was human or demon (or maybe from a subverted take a third option choice. But according the Weekes the original quest was much more black and white than the game's quest). Cole and Blackwall have banter after Cole kills the Templar and it's terrifying.

Does this mean we'll get to see villain!Merrill? Agent of Fen'Harel Merrill? Honestly, I'd kind of love that.
I mean, don't care about what the devs say, I'm going to help her rebuild that eluvian and recapture lost elven glory, 100% Merrill defense squad here, screw the haters.
Also that render looks incredible aaaaahhhh I want her back as a companion.
That render is from an au where Merrill is the Inquisitor.
'Herald of Andraste? Wouldn't Herald of Mythal make more sense?'
And I am 100% Merrill defence, as is my Merrillmancing Hawke. But my Hawke still got her girlfriend to destroy the evil mirror. Rival!Merrill ftw.

That reminds me of Loki taunting Tyr, saying that Tyr could only rile up mortals and get them to war with one another, but never reconcile them. Tyr in this sense sounds like a very good representation of the Inquisitor then, doesn't he?
Considering the outcome of everything we do, and our attempts to help.
There's some interesting parallels there, what with Tyr's willingness to sacrifice his arm for the good of the people, as well as Tyr being the only one brave enough to approach Fenrir as he grew.
If we're looking at The Inquisitor as Tyr, the loss of Quizzy's arm comes from the anchor they used to save the world (Solas' anchor), and, like Tyr, they're the only one brave/capable enough to stand against Solas/The Wolf at this point.
Not to mention the whole breaking loose and devouring the world thing...

Oooooo, demon!Cole got recorded? I'd love to hear the sound files, if you happen to have a link to whoever datamined them.
I don't, sorry. Hopefully someone here does, though.

It's partly because he doesn't look like Solas and partly because it feels like 'hot' mods like this are a way of people to justify liking him. It gives me a similar but lesser feeling of ickiness as the white Isabela mod.
(ironically it also makes him look more generic because the bad boy dangerous wolf is far more of a cliché. I am totally using this look for my bad boy mage pirate Solas/Halla Princess Lavellan Cass-authored friendfic).
There's a white Isabela mod? ew ew ew. Kill it with fire.
Please tell me you're actually writing the bad boy mage pirate Solas/Halla Princess Lavellen Cass friendfic, it'd make me my day.

Blackwall: I just realized, I've never seen an elf with a beard.Solas: You haven't seen many elves then.?Because that I heard in-game, in two different playthroughs.
Huh. I was positive that Gaider said it was non-canon. Or are there two pieces? Were you using cheat engine to trigger banter? Are you completely sure you heard it in-game? What patch number was it?

So I've been wondering, since GDL says that Solas's accent is more Welsh than his own normal speaking voice and Matthew Gravelle (Abelas) is also Welsh ... does that mean we can hope for more Welsh accents from ancient elves? The way the Dalish are mostly (all?) Irish accented?

I've never rivalled Merrill - probably because my first playthrough of DA:O was a blood mage, who took a pretty practical 'well, it's fine if it's use is strictly regulated' approach, so I was really excited there was a canonical blood mage who wasn't the terror-inspiring murderer or sick "mad scientist", and just agreed with everything she said without thinking much about it on my first DA2 playthrough. Then I accidentally murdered her clan
I'm never anti-mage enough, I think, to rival her.
Can you link me to the AU? Because that sounds really awesome.

I have a PS4, I'm 100% positive since I first heard it on my first playthrough which I played before most of the internet (pre-order, so it was pre-patches), and then heard it again on my third playthrough, a few days before Trespasser came out (so something around 2.5 weeks ago, patch 10). I remember raising an eyebrow when I heard it, but then I decided Solas is just trolling Blackwall.

Somehow, like the Bethany incest mod and straight Dorian mod, it's still on nexus.
One comment described her original appearance as the 'exotic' skin tone.
There is not a :I big enough.
(I'm pretty busy at the moment but I've got some free time coming up. This friendfic will be written).

Anti-mage? Tell that to my pro-mage apostate Merrillmancer. The easiest way to rival her is to do the book hunting quest right at the start of Act II and destroy each book. Merrill gives +10 rivalry for each book. Then refuses to hand over the tool during her quest (which will give a huge amount rival points). My Hawke was pro mage but all she knew about the mirror was it was blighted and it had killed people. Plus, despite not being much of an Andrastian, she had pretty Andrastian views of blood magic.
The link got added to the original post. I don't know if there's much more of it than the picture, though.

The animations made the scene, IMO. It occurs to me this was probably a tough scene to do, and so easy for it to come off wrong and not nuanced enough, particularly with the romance in mind, and they did a really good job.

Total change of subject, but I'd been pondering something while taking a shower yesterday (yes, the shower is my "overthinking lore and theorizing" time, why do you ask?
)
We've been wondering about the link between spirits and ancient elves and theorizing about spirits taking physical shape before. We know this to be true as Cole does exactly that. Well, I got to ponder the opposite. What would happen, in time, to someone trapped physically in the Fade? Isn't it somewhat strange that, whenever we ask Justinia's spirit in the fade what she is, she never actually gives us an answer. We can choose the answer that she's a spirit taking Justinia's shape and a few others I don't quite remember, but she never actually agree to any of it. What if... What if, the same as a spirit can take shape in the real world if they wish it enough and are strong enough, that a physical being with a strong enough spirit (which I would guess the Divine to be) could actually somehow leave their physical shape behind? Literally become a spirit most closely resembling their physical personnality. In Justinia's case, this would be a faith spirit, no? And the explanation is so mind boggling that trying to explain it during the events in the fade just would take too long. And if this is so, what does it mean for whoever was left in the fade, if they survived the nightmare? After all, no one can survive, physically, without food or water (even though there seems to be water in the fade, I doubt it's actually drinkable...) for very long.
But then, perhaps I just really want my Hawke to have survived and make an appearance again ![]()

One can only hope. Also more Abelas!!
But I loved that it is sort of becoming canon. Merrill's accent was super adorable. I was sort of disappointed that the Dalish Inquisitor couldn't have a welsh accent. I mean, I understand why because money, but still. *sigh*

it's an interesting idea and i wondered if that's the case. there is that whole thing with cole in deep roads(trespasser) about how the sleepers(presumably elves in uthenera) are unable to wake up but they are still alive. likely the veil came down and they were stuck.
but i think it goes to the whole codex entry where you have to have something rooted in reality so in their case, their bodies. which allows them to stay alive in both places. with hawke, i think they are just dead. i mean i hope so because i couldn't give a toss for my hawke or anything to do with her. so...but i think whoever is in the fade is screwed because they have completely left reality.

I was reading TV Tropes and on the Inquisitor's character page it described Lavellan's accent as a case of gameplay and story segregation. We hear an English or American accent because the game only offered those as choices, but it would actually be closer to the other Dalish in the story.
I chose to take this as canon.

Hey at least you're not dreaming about it like I did last night, which is weird since I'm not as big a Solas fan as the rest of you. Don't know what to think about that.... lol.
He was walking with the Tolkein elves, going with them to leave Mordor/Thedas, wearing a single angel wing and halo made of dead brown vines. Strange not for that but for me having Solas dreams at all..

well yeah. the dalish inquisitor accent is hilariously disconnected from where she came from. she has this sort of aristocratic english accent and it's like 'where did you get that little elf?' maybe she was so deep undercover at the conclave it just stuck.
