He didn't physically shapeshift in the dreams.  He just appeared as a wolf.  I didn't think it was metaphorical as much as him 'hiding' in a form he felt more comfortable in.  I'm actualyl cool with the idea of them being able to define their forms.  Though that does kind of bleed into the formless one.  I don't remember the codex but I was pretty sure he's a 'forgotten one' right?

Solas is a Forgotten One? I must have missed it. I'm not exactly fluent with the lore here, the Formless One is one of the Forbidden Ones, isn't it? And there are speculations that the Forbidden Ones may be related to the Forgotten Ones? That's as far as I got.

Lavellan: What's your problem with the Dalish?  Allergic to halla?

I can't never NOT pick that option with my elf mage :D Sassy Lavellan is sassy. Even better when I think that at that time they were both sort of measuring each other up (my sass is stronger than yours!).

Interestingly, Solas may have liked some things she made.

Ghilan'nain kept herself apart from the People. She used her power to create animals none had ever seen. The skies teemed with her monsters, the land with her beasts. Andruil hunted them all, and after a year of killing, approached Ghilan'nain with an offer: the gods would share their power with Ghilan'nain, but only if she destroyed her creations, for they were too untamed to remain among the People. Ghilan'nain agreed and asked for three days to undo what she had made.
On the first day she struck down the monsters of the air, except those she presented to Andruil as a gift.
On the second day she drowned the giants of the sea, except those in deep waters, for they were too well-wrought, and Pride stopped her hand.
On the third day she killed the beasts of the land, except the halla, whose grace she loved above all else.
This is how Ghilan'nain was made youngest of the gods.

Ack ok I don't know anymore again :))

The elven pantheon are the Creators. The Forgotten Ones in elven lore opposed them.

Fen'Harel in the lore walked among both groups of gods.

The Forbidden Ones are a group of ancient powerful demons and are not the same thing as the Forgotten Ones but there are speculations on possible links.

The Formless One is one of the Forbidden Ones.

In that case, he needs to get himself a CRC.  Who would promptly tell all the volunteers to go home because OMG UNETHICAL WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU MAN

Someone on tumblr had a hospital AU going on with Inquisition.  Post-Trespasser, NOPE.  Solas can stay the hell away from my complicated biological systems, thanks.

Ethics? IRB approval? Maybe even controls and replicates? Nah, this is how Dirthamen would do it, I'm trying to run a rebellion here. Launch the Veil at once!

Ooops... Well, let's try this again completely ignoring my previous results.

What about all those Professor AUs? Because if his gentle approach with people does not succeed, surely the scientific rigor will help him succeed academically.

I'm pretty sure it's the only one that doesn't net you negative approval too. I also love the way that Alix Wilton Regan delivers the line. The way she says halla is sooooo cute!

And yes, I'm just thread creeping and had to say this!

Well, I've been laughing for some time now that the probable alternate title for DAI could probably be "The Taming Of The Wolf" :D

Dragon Age: Elfquisition. *epic theme tune plays*

I smh so hard bemusedly and affectionately at some of you with the pantheon sometimes hahaha. I want to kill them

well of course solas would say that

I'm divided on the pantheon. On the one hand they sound super cool and intriguing villains, on the other hand I want to rip their guts out and watch them die. Such conflict.

Oh, yeah, in the beginning of the romance I almost always pick the middle option. I love how he tends to give approval to it, too, and counter with a joke of his own or laugh. Solas appreciates Sass.

The nostalgia I get remembering those little flirts...

Oh it gives a point of negative approval, but it's totally worth it, IMO. Like, he didn't expect her at that time that she may even try and give him a run for his mony in the sass departament and managed to trigger his competetive streak ;D

Dunno how it's with else, but I can imagine their relationship being full of such interactions, even if with time they grow to be more playful.

Luckily, it seems bioware likes going against expectations of their audience, so I'm willing to bet he won't. But then, I also betted bioware wouldn't say he's gonna tear down the veil, even if I thought he certainly wanted to and was capable of it.

That could still happen, too.

I don't imagine Solas will ever become a full villain. The writers definitely went in this direction with him knowing that those who didn't look beyond the surface would just consider him an evil a**hole and nothing else. Meanwhile, pains were taken to portray a more human, vulnerable, and sympathetic side to Solas for anyone who cared enough about the character to look for it and take notice. I don't see Weekes letting that go to waste.

He's always been a professor of history or ancient language or something like that in all the professor AUs I've seen.  So hopefully he doesn't need IRB approval for anything he's up to :P

Now I'm wondering what Solas's lab notebook looks like.

Experiment 1: The Veil

Results: TBD.  Too sleepy.  Napping now.

Updated Results: Disastrous.  Irreversible...for now...

Experiment 2: Dropping the Veil

Results: Failure.  Subject refused to die like a proper gremlin upon opening the orb.

Notes: Different gremlin altered by the Anchor.  See separate notebook for gremlin observations.

Experiment 3: REALLY SERIOUSLY DROPPING THE VEIL NOW

Results: TBD

Notes: Stop getting attached to gremlins.

Yep, what I foresee is Weekes putting that sympathetic side to full effect and wringing my heart out again and again.

Speaking of the pantheon, man. Ghilan'nain. Solas must have hated her so much :)). She experimented on people so coldly. And I'm willing to bet some of the creatures she made were spirits forced to take shapes she crafted. Kind of goes against everything Solas stands for, the way I see it. Now I'm thinking that's why he went after the halla in that tied to the tree tale.

I heard there were a lot of codex's about her in Trespasser but I don't remember any.

The codex entries on the 4-item set in Trespasser seem to be written by Ghilan'nain, if I remember correctly.

This. It would be a horrible waste if they went with the full villain transformation. I think Bioware is smarter than that.

Now I have this image of a really grumpy old man in my head. Imagine how Solas would write a diary, though!

Dear Diary,

today I found another one of my old murals from thousands of years ago. The companion gremlins thought it looked stupid, Sera in particular. Still, came to the conclusion that my art must have sucked big time. Feel ashamed now. Can't fix mistakes, though, the Dalish gremlins worship that sh*t.

I also hope they don't basically create two versions of him later on depending on approval so those who want to see him as pure evil are validated while those who don't are too. Seems lazy to me, and a disservice to the character. Grey is grey is grey. He should never come off as anything but.

Yas - they are scattered around in secret areas in the crossroads.  She is a MONSTER.  Like disgusting.

There is one where it's implied she's peforming experiments on actual elves and she's talking about needing more for something and she says like "I told it this was necessary in order for x,y,z'. IT.  IT WAS A TINY GREMLIN TO HER.

I imagine the evanuris, like all things, was varying shades of awful.  I'm sure some where amazing and did nothing wrong like June.  And some were gross and disgusting like Ghilan'nain.

JUNE DID NOTHING WRONG!

Lol, I wasn't talking about him needing IRB approval in the fics, though I'd love to see a fic like that :D But even if you're a humanities professor, don't you need a shard of common sense in you? (I really don't know how humanities work)
