Leliana was a bi romance in DAO. And she's been quite plot relevant ever since. Yes she wasn't the most relevantest romance of the game she was romance in but I wouldn't count her out so fast. If predictions come true and we're going to Tevinter for DA4 and Dorian is there, he's also plot relevant. Once again not in the game he was romance in but still plot relevant.

 

As for straight females having the most choices. Iirc in DAO both straight sexes had the same amount of choice. In DA2 sfemales had one more because of DLC, but the two in the base game were basically both whiny, mass murdering bitches (one with better motive than the other). DAI is pretty bad in having very little choice for straight males and a lot for females. It's still pretty miraculous in game industry. I'd also encourage you to look at another big BioWare name, Mass Effect. There is a plot relevant bi romance that carries over all three games in there. The one straight female romance that carries over all three games suddenly turns bi in the 3rd game and the rest of the options aren't exactly great (alien, dead alien and other fun options). DAI was great in that pretty much everyone has diverse options that don't suck. It will always be impossible to 100% please everyone's fancy.

 

Yes I know I propably misused gender and sex there but I'm pretty sure everyone got the point anyway

 

That said I understand the pain of not getting recognized as a legit group of customers. My left ear is deaf and no modern game allows you to have mono sound with headphones from game settings anymore. No, it's all about that directional sound which all but mutes anything not coming from the side your earphone is in (it's ridiculous anyone thinks this is how sounds works irl /sigh). Esspecially noticeable at wartable where Josie is the only person I can acctually hear when looking at Ferelden <.<

 

Leliana is the only one of the original group that never had chemistry with any of my chars, though I liked her as a character.  And she's a prominent npc, yes, but you could play through all of DA:O without ever meeting her, and she continued to be a side character throughout the series.  So far Dorian is following a similar pattern, you can miss almost all of his content.  (And I still haven't gotten a character with him, although my new Adaar is promising.)  My canon Surana ended up with Zev (despite having more chemistry with Alistair), who is always awesome, but naturally he's the only one of the four LIs from DA:O who doesn't get the love the others got in DA:I.  He was also the *only* choice for a gay male Surana in DA:O.

 

And straight women having the most choices doesn't really make me feel better.  I'm not exactly complaining about it either; it's irrelevant to what bothers me.  I'm very aware that there's no pleasing everyone, very aware.  For all this continues to bother me, I'm actually very happy with the DA:I LIs.  Solas is amazing, and I love my lady Lavellan.  My Dudevellan is very happy with Bull, who surprised me a lot.  But occasionally something like this happens, and I wonder about what could've been, and it hurts again.

I think the veilfire is only an oversight by the writers. It was a way for them to explain that you can use it for something, without even considering it's basically everywhere, and if you go to Skyhold before you do that quest, Solas casts it himself during the after-haven cutscene. So It doesn't worry me because it was probably just a mistake. I wouldn't call Solas a liar because of it, anyway.

Is there any connection between Solas and the Lady of the Forest/Witherfang? Beyond being wolf connected and a spirit? And Zathrian being another bald elf mage with a long lifespan, I suppose.

I feel really awful sometimes. I don't speak French beyond saying things like Salud, Bonjour or Merci. I can understand stuff okay when I go out and about, but when I run into someone that doesn't understand English...I have to resort to on the spot Charades for conversation.

 

I'm a little late to the party, but hello fellow Canadians! French-Canadian from Quebec here, currently living in Ottawa. Yes, yes, it is pronounced Keh-beck, as we don't pronounce the "u" in that first syllable at all. It's a silent letter. It's just a writing convention to put a "u" after a "q" (don't ask me why, it's weird. Best explanation I heard was that copist used to be paid by the letter so they tended to add "silent" letters in words. No idea if that is true. We certainly have weird stuff though, like "au" and "eau" both being pronounced "o")

Omg, I have the same problem, deaf left ear and going "what did X say" because, wtf why do they have to stand on my left side ingame, I hate this, I want mono sound back -.- And I never found a setting in windows that lets me make every sound mono. :-/

If the mono setting is anywhere, it will likely be on the sound card settings instead of the OS settings. Whether it's available will depend on whether the sound card manufacturer thought of this use case, since converting stereo to mono involves (a small amount of) extra computations. It's easy to support... but they do have to remember to support it.

Sound cards are usually listed somewhere in Device Manager. From there, you should be able to click on the sound card to go to its settings. It should pop up a weird-looking settings screen (looks different for each sound card manufacturer), and if you're lucky the mono option will be somewhere in there.

I don't have my computer in front of me at the moment, apologies if any of the steps are vague.

Sadly no, but I wish they would have said it. He remarks that Lavellan is strong and that her muscles are an enjoyable side benefit. She asks if he likes them, he replies that he meant she must like having them and then remarks that yes, he DOES like them.

On the subject of partial deafness and headphones, I found this. They're not exactly cheap, but if you get the kind with a replaceable cord they could last a very long time.

Sadly even mono sound is kind of a plaster for a bigger issue. We can still "feel" the sound coming from the deaf direction even with surround. Mono removes that aspect of directional sound which makes it "feel" wrong. Really, all sound engineers would need to do to fix this issue is making some of the sounds (dialog, footsteps, etc) play from both earphones but fainter on the side the sounds aren't coming from. That's how hearing works irl. If Solas was telling me sweet nothings on my left side irl I could hear it fine if not in noisy environment. Not as well as if he was on my right but he wouldn't be magically muted

 

One day, one of our kind will become a master sound engineer and fix all our problems!

Bummer! One other thing to try: in Control Panel > Sounds > [ pick your headphones, which may be labeled as "speakers" ], there may be a tab that says "Levels" with a button for "Balance" (or something similar). On my sound card, that button lets me adjust the weight of the L and R outputs.

(you may also need to go to Control Panel > Sounds > [ your sound card ] > Controller Information: Properties > Change Settings > Driver > Update Driver to get the latest sound card software. Newer drivers often have options that the preinstalled drivers lacked)

There was talk of stubble a day or so ago. I noticed while doing another run through Trespasser that as he turned his head a tiny bit of peach fuzz caught the light. So I saved a screen shot of it. I wouldn't really call it stubble, more like the thin fuzz everyone has on their skin. But I think it's cute.
