I'm really not happy about being restricted to 8 abilities. But you know what Bioware, you can still save this day. Just confirm Solas once and for all and it's all good again!

If they would just confirm the last two LIs at PAX, that would be just gravy.
I think we're all more than tired of the waiting game.
I have a bad feeling, though. I also wonder how long it will take for the SP demo video to go up. I hope they don't wait until the end of PAX! Maybe someone in the audience recorded it.

I prefer adaptability, personally. We'll have to see how it plays, I suppose. It may not be such a big deal once we have our hands on the game but it looks frustrating right now.
yes, is never fun when things one like are taken away, I know. but I can simply say is not that bad to play, I promise!
or I would not have played so many times DAO, even with the bad porting, limited customization and wild bugs of the PS3 version.

It's certainly going to be frustrating to find yourself in a battle knowing that the ability that would be the most useful is the one you don't have access to at the moment. But I suppose this will be an advantage to a two mage team. Solas and Quizzy are going to be divvying their spells...which is what I always do anyway, but it seems more important now.

Yeah, I'm not feeling optimistic we'll hear anything either. I had a flash of hope after the boyfriend tweet, but something something bioware fan tears ![]()
I'm a dirty console peasant so the PC UI debacle is kinda going over my head. Sorry for you guys who are disappointed though ![]()

I'm with you on how frustrating this is going to be. It looks like you're going to have to know going into a fight which abilities we need. So either metagaming or dying and restarting. Which just wastes player time rather than making things genuinely harder.
I'm sorry things are bad for you. You don't have to be sorry though.
Spoiler
Yeah, I agree. There's having a legitimately difficult enemy in front of you that makes you need to think about how to go at it, and then there's not being clairvoyant and walking into something unknown and getting killed 'cause you didn't know the exact way to kill it. Wasted time is a pretty good way to sum up my feelings on that.
Also, thank you. I appreciate it. Like, a lot. ![]()
I also appreciate that gif. It's super cute and fluffy animals make everything better, heh. (':
Does it help your mood if I say I love you?
*hugs* Sorry.
Hahah, you know what? It actually does. I needed that laugh. Thank you. ![]()
@manabloom - I definitely get your frustration. As a console player, I'm used to being gimped with the tactics but now everybody is and it sucks. The lack of abilities in the radial menu is really the killer here for everybody, honestly.
I know that it's supposed to make it more "challenging", but it's just going to get annoying to have to switch out all of my abilities between fights if I want to use them. Especially when you don't know what's coming!
You know, I saw that the radials were gone, but I honestly thought they'd... done something better? I mean, the radial took the place of the tactical cam and was used for aiming so I figured, hey, now that consoles get the good camera too, I guess they found a better way! ... No, apparently not...
But yeah. I'm trying not to be an extremist and jump to "THIS IS AN ABOMINATION AND THERE IS LITERALLY NO WAY FOR IT TO BE ANYTHING OTHER THAN TERRIBLE," because, you know, we haven't played. But it's REALLY hard to imagine this as anything other than an INCREDIBLY annoying waste of time...
*hugs*
I know it probably doesn't mean much coming from a stranger on the internet, but you seem like an awesome person! I hope you feel better and things get better soon.
Omgosh you GUYS.
I honestly just mentioned that because I wanted to explain/apologize for my negative behavior, I didn't expect anyone to actually care...
I'm already really emotional over here, all this sweetness is gonna make me start crying, hahah.
But really, thank you. It means more than you think, especially after hearing the kind of stuff that I did earlier. ![]()
I know how you feel. Well looks like I will be playing Rogue on my first playthrough.
I'm sorry you are having a bad day GOD Bless you!
Spoiler
Yeah... Guess I'm lucky that I also like playing rogue... though not nearly as much...
And thank you for the hug. They always make everything better, weather physical or virtual. ![]()
I HATE BEING OUT OF LIKESsSsSs.
I will come back and retroactively like all these once I get some back. I am determined.
But thank you for being so sweet, guys. I really appreciate it more than I can verbalize right now. This thread is the best and so are all of you.

Oh. My. Goodness. I need to learn how to use images in my posts. That is adorable.
It's easy! Up on the post box, under the smiley for emotes are two little blue <> arrows... To the left of that is a box. If you hover, it'll say image. You just click that, insert URL, and poof! Gifs and such. ![]()

Yes, this! All of this. Would like if I could, but I can't, so verbal confirmation instead.
Also, fussing does help. I think that's basically just human nature. We sure do like to complain! And I think it was good to get it off our chests and do it in here, where there's always a positive atmosphere. I can imagine some very angry threads have popped up... and it's really easy to stay angry (and get angrier) when in a crowd of similarly vexed people. I mean, I'm still upset for sure, but I'm getting over the initial "PRE-ORDER CANCELED" reaction a little more each minute...
edit @ Levi: [sniffling] D'aww, thank you so much.
And that sounds like a useful gif collection, heh. I should invest in one of those...

Alright, I have a little story gift for you all (after the first one), to vent all the frustration around. Enjoy the silly ![]()
...
Tired. So tired of having to save everyone. Sometimes, the weight just seemed unbearable.
In the end, she knew she was utterly and completely afraid of what was to come. And worse, she was afraid of herself.
The void in her, that piece of the Fade stuck in her hand... Was she some sort of abomination now? Would she be able to complete her task? So many thoughts racing in her head.
She sighed and moved her gaze away from the map displayed on the war table, now barely lit by the light of dying candles.
Through the high windows of the room, the moon shone high and bright. She'd been alone there for hours. Sometimes, the echo of a guard footsteps rang in the silent fortress.
She lowered her gaze to look at her hand. The ugly bruise was concealed by her gauntlet. She felt the morbid urge to pull it off.
"You should get some rest." She turned, surprised. Solas was standing near the entrance of the room, half concealed by shadows.
"I'm alright, I was just... thinking that's all. What are you doing here?"
"Just... enjoying the quiet." The Keep was indeed very calm at night, compared to the day tumult."Why don't you come walk with me?"
"Aren't you supposed to be sleeping, talking with spirits and all that?" She jested.
"I may also speak with people this side of the Veil you know." He smirked.
"Right. Let's get out then. I need some fresh air".
They walked side by side, in silence. Oddly enough, it was not the first time they happened to be alone like this, together. A strange bond linked them.
A mutual need for silence and calm, to be able to think. Somehow it let them get back all the energy the world around constantly asked of them.
It was a relief to be able to grasp these few precious hours of quiet. Sometimes, they'd just sit in the garden. Sometimes, they'd walk like tonight, in a comfortable silence.
"I know what haunts you". He said. "No one can be prepared to carry the burden on your shoulders."
"Tell me I'm not that easy to read"
"No you're not. I am just used to truly look at the people around me."
"Then, what do you see?" She turned her face towards him, but in the pale moonlight, she couldn't see the expression on his face.
"I see strength. Most would have fled, or become mad. You stay strong and lead us all. No one can ask you more than that."
"But what if I... fail in the end?"
He chuckled softly.
"Then I'll seek you in the Fade and won't let you rest till you're done."
"Could you even do that?" She stopped walking, looking a bit startled "That would be... disturbing".
"Would it?" His purple eyes were staring at her. "I know a way to ease your burden."
"Will you teach me to be a lucid dreamer, just like you? Or is it a ritual?"
"Not really no..." He was smiling.
She wanted to answer, but a finger was gently pressed on her lips. She stilled, unsettled by the contact, and lift her gaze to meet his amethyst eyes. And when he leaned towards her to kiss her, she didn't even try to resist.
It felt right and natural. And good. At the moment, he was all that she needed. The soft touch of his lips felt eerie, like in a dream. But the fur of his coat under her fingers was real, just as real as his warmth and the touch of his hands now around her waist.
When their lips finally parted, she stayed in his embrace, savoring the moment.
This was something worth fighting for. A hope of a brighter future in this apocalyptic world.
Thanks for reading. ![]()

I like both story and combat, so I can fuss over all the things.
One thing I liked about the new combat system is the way the old primal trees are arranged now. I didn't care for how some ability trees were squashed together in DA2, like how you had to run through the earth-based spells to get the most out of the lightning tree. Now if I want a lightning attuned mage I can just stick to the lightning tree without additional stuff I don't necessarily want attached. I often like to choose spells that suit my mage's personality, so more specialized trees are nice. (I think Solas is getting the fire spells... Mr Scotch Bonnet Candy.
)

Yeah, same. I'll pop into other threads with this stuff too, but I'm more comfortable in here.
