People either see kissing elves or Yoda... A bit divided.
Not to mention the one where Alistair is getting intimate with a Brood Mother. xD

Am I the only one who sees the possibility of maybe using one of the voices you didn't use for the new second protagonist if that scenario were to happen? Female character, chose Alix's VA for Inquisitor, you can use either of the male Inquisitor VA's for the second, or Sumalee's voice. No need for another two VAs.
I just have to say that this is an excellent idea if they are considering dual protagonists. If they would do this I would be really interested to create a male protagonist to be a counterpart for my Lavellan.

(In regards to Solas not being bi) Further reason not to be a writer, I never even think of half of the stuff some people come out with or even realise are tropes to begin with.
This is less 'don't write' and more a call for good collaborators from diverse backgrounds, IMO. That can mean editors, beta readers, just friends who will look over something. And patience. ![]()

That's the thing huh. People just can't take a story for what it is without making comparisons. Everything that's been done has been done before, in one way or another anyway.
It is meaningless..

Woah now, excuse me! My gloomy side decided to show up and write this forum post.

So do you think making Cole spirit or human will have any effect on saving Solas? I made him human in my play through, but that line he has as spirit gives me pause "When this is done, I will slip back safely, a spirit. Someone is hurting. He needs me to remember who he is." Is that a hint we should make him spirit? Honestly Cole probably has the best chance of out of anyone to actually find him and get through to him. Maybe he won't be in the next game at all, but would be interesting.
Oh and his line about the veil not being "real" is interesting. How is Solas planning on collapsing something that isn't real? ![]()

That's not it though. There are patterns and some of them can contribute to harmful or stereotypical portrayals of certain characters. People have been making comparisons since the dawn of literature. Humans have a thing for patterns. And sometimes, with cultural changes and shifts, we gain more insight through which to apply critical analysis of these patterns enough to say 'hey, why is ___________ the case so often?'.
That isn't to say that good things can't follow or contain tropes, but honestly, as soon as I read why they made that decision, I found it really thoughtful and I appreciated that they took feedback on previous bi characters to heart. Like Weekes said, less harm done.
(Don't mind me. I studied both literature and sociology. This is sort of my territory.

I know some people were disappointed at human Cole in Trespasser but I don't know if this will carry over into anything significant. Too early to tell. I had spirit Cole and he went back to the Fade in the end, aiming to help Solas.

To be entirely fair, most of the suffering in my Lavellan's life has come from her stupid apocalypse boyfriend. She has a good family life, a bunch of awesome friends, and she's probably seen and done more in her time as Inquisitor than most Thedosians do in a lifetime.
The vacation is definitely not entirely by choice; even with Dagna's prosthetics, she's in no shape to do anything active for a while. So she takes that time to hang out with her friends, learn how to use her prosthetics, and get her bearings before jumping back on the apocalypse train
True!
That a**hole!
But she never would of met the people she did if it weren't for him!
Yes, but at this point the story ends at many of them still suffering (even if they have friends and LIs supporting them), with all the pressure from trying to save the world AGAIN, so I'd actually like to see them (esp. my Lavellan) in story again to give them their shot in happiness as well.
I mean, Solas is the King Of Angst, but I feel no less sorry for my poor Asura, and would hate it if she'd just be left rejected like a used tool (even if not by her ex-boyfriend and friends, then by BW/fate
) and powerless to do anything.
How much more angst can our poor Lavellan's endure? I hope the mark doesn't actually eventually kill her. Even if her and Solas don't live Happily Ever After! I'd still like her to live a long life!

I was thinking about if Solas really does manage to bring down the veil and everything burns. What if why he was asking about your spirit being unchanged by the mark, is because he plans on trying to get your spirit to manifest in the flesh again.....

If Cole has any impact in that regard, human!Cole could work too. He could be an argument for not ripping down the Veil, "Look! I became a gremlin and I turned out fine!"
Personally I hope it wouldn't matter. It'd sort of defeat the purpose of this being no "right" answer to Cole's quest. If I knew making Cole more spirit would lead to an easier time on redeeming Solas, I know which option I'd choose every time.

Yeah, I think that IF Cole returns to help save Solas, it will be both as human and a spirit. He openly admits to liking being human so far and hasn't yet lost a part of himself that makes him all 'spirity' and inspirational and helping people and stuff... just like Inky hasn't, despite being a mortal all their life, lol

Take heart, it's not likely. I can't imagine he gives two spits if male Cadash, for example, ever manifests in the Fade, and yet he asks that same question of them. ![]()

The likes are dried up. I suppose I wasn't thinking of relationships in writing because I don't usually write it. Humans and their patterns.. It only irks me when it breeds elitism, and puts people off at least trying to write. No one is ever going to get it perfect and that's what growing is for.
Don't take the grim side of me seriously though, she's full of angst and poor arguments.

It seems to be growing at a rate of 10pages/6hours for me (though that might be off-peak time).

Trespasser: Metagaming Lavellan. ![]()
WHAT IF Lavellan could metagame and knows all the spoilers, and so she insists on finishing EVERY SINGLE THING
in the game, including DLCs, before heading to the final fight, just to spend more time with Solas?
Trespasser: Inspired by the murals in the DLC.

Oh, for the love of...
I follow Dragon Age on facebook, and they recently made a post asking which follower you find most inspiring. One girl said she found Solas so, because he carries so much crippling guilt yet is able to function and hold a conversation. Of course, she immediately gets flanked with "Of course, he's a genocidal maniac" posts, and some jerk who (inappropriately) asks her if she romanced him, and when she said yes he acted all smug and bragged about how HIS female elf Inquisitor romanced the Iron Bull and was glad he didn't betray her.
Really, why do people have to be such jerks about this? I get that not everyone is going to find Solas sympathetic, or even redeemable, but hassling Solas fans and insinuating that the only reason we'd find him sympathetic is because we romanced him, or jumping to gloat because they didn't romance him? So rude; I forgot how hostile it is out there.
