Just coming in to this thread to say that if I met Solas in real life I would not get on with him.
From a player perspective though I can't help but find him deeply interesting and he is being set up to be a fantastic antagonist with lots of thought behind him. This is the kind of villain I like - one that has a story you can relate to and understand why he is doing the things he is doing. An antagonist that isn't just "I do bad things because I'm the big bad and I have big bad reasons" type. He is a villain that isn't a villain at all, one that can't easily fit in the good or evil categories.
On neither of my two play through did I romance him, but If I had I could only see the story developing being even MORE gripping!
I lurked on a few pages of this thread and wow, I'm so sorry people are being so awful to you Solas fans! Like what is so absurd about liking well written characters?!
Anyway, I'll continue to lurk here XD
