I play video game romance subplots for the epic drama that I would NEVER stand for in a real life relationship. Hence, Anders and Solas I love both characters, but I wouldn't go near either IRL with a ten foot pole.

I go for the drama in video games and I also went for the drama IRL 'cause I'm CRAZY. The saga of my courtship with my hubby was so eerily similar to the Solasmance, that it's a bit creepy. Remember Solas saying, "It might be trouble" when you talk about the fade kiss? A very similar convo played out with my hubby when I started pursuing his affections. There were so many similarities I thought Weekes was spying on us.   

 

Sure, I was miserable for more than a year trying to get my one true love to let me in (and I'm still a little miserable from time to time now), but nothing worth having is easily won. Love is a gift and a duty. I'll take a potted plant over cut flowers any day.

Okay...does it super freak anyone else out that if you equip Bull with the Trespasser gear he gets white human arms?  I mean I spent about twenty minutes just switching him in and out of that armor snickering.  

That Trespasser armour is bugged for males... it changes male body types to females. And any DLC armour that Bull is wearing looks weird, because they used Qunquisitor's body type and not his own.

But personally, no way. This would've exploded in my face. The early phase would've been great, there would be a lot to talk about and we would share many values. But I'd have no patience for his lack of openness. Also, I have this nasty habit: when someone is stoic and withdrawn and I wish to get close to them, I start being a troll. I would push him more and more, upping the snark until I p*ss him off, just so I could get a reaction. And as a result, he'd be p*ssed off. I'm aware of it and I avoid doing it now, but it would eventually happen. 

 

I'm more playful with my degree of snark, but unfortunately this sometimes leads to people not taking me seriously when I'm genuinely frustrated or angry. I'm one of those people who gets called cute when angry and it's very annoying. But good thing Solas isn't real because I might have been in Lavellan's place with that connection.    The secrecy would've been an issue, because I want straightforwardness, but multiple things about Solas tick the right boxes for friendship or even further.

 

Which is a credit to the writers for making characters who feel like actual people.

I'll be setting it up tomorrow since it's late and I'm a bit tired at the moment (it was a busy day for me, hehe). I can't wait to get my hands on that sweet GOTY edition and take lots and lots of screenshots of Tala with nice pretty graphics instead of using my phone camera. xD

 

In the meantime, while waiting for October 6 to come around, I'll be playing a bit of Destiny (never thought I'd actually hear myself say that...).

I didn't allow duplicate votes so I don't think it's from people spamming the poll. There are also a lot of people who are happy with dual protagonist and/or the inquisitor so I wanted them to be acknowledged as well. As for the cameo thing, I just wanted a poll that's representative of the main options instead of just want I want.

I had Blackwall in that gear and he looked fine.  Normal Blackwall.  It was when I but IB in it that it really looked funky.

Yep, yep. Solas meets a lot of my requirements. He's highly intelligent, cares about people, knows how to take charge when needed and step back when not, supportive, and very charismatic. I also found him attractive when his character was revealed (before we got to know him). So, IRL, I would be doomed to fall for him but wouldn't stick around for his world ending plans!

I know common perception must be that this thread is full of only mindless heartbroken Solas lovers, but we've been a pretty stable group who can appreciate all opinions of Solas as long as they are respectfully stated. No one has to like Solas, but they can at least be polite to people that do. And that does go both ways. Because honestly, Solas is too much a well written and interesting character to be reduced to the sum of his romance. It's nice to get perspectives from those who were friends or had an antagonistic relationship too.

Yep Yep.  There are few people who boop around here regularly that didn't romance him.  So as Uirebhiril said, the more the merrier.

I'm never able to straight-up antagonize BioWare companions (except DA2's cast, who need a good kick in the behind). But playing a PC who sometimes butts heads with Solas has been very interesting.

I would certainly find Solas attractive IRL, but I think I'd have a hard time dealing with him in any meaningful interaction. We'd wind up more like casual friends or acquaintances, basically his relationship with most of the people in the Inquisition. He has a lot of qualities that make him a fascinating fictional character, but those don't translate well into real life.
