HA! That is a perfect example right there. I dont blame people for thinking solas is revolting. Think what you will, what he plans isnt pretty. But how many of those people that think he is a monster for wanting to save his people also completely wiped out the geth (tranquil non-people) so that they could get the shep breath scene at the end of the game? I know I did...even with legions sacrifice and how much danm feels that gave me. One of my fave characters. And how much I think that that unit does have a soul. And EDI...I am a monster too. Oh no...
I don't know what you mean? I chose Destroy, and EDI and the Geth were quite well in my PT. C: ... (: ... |:
Ah, the power of headcanon!
Well....interestingly enough though.....
.....Solas' character on this point seems to be very different depending on who the Inquisitor was. I agree with you, with a friend or romance Inquisitor yes, Solas is not really a madman looking at his plan with a maniac grin on his face.
However, take a good look at the look on his face when he says "Doing so will most likely destroy your world" to an Inquisitor he hates. It is the same look and smile he has just before he turns to kill the mages who tortured the spirit of Wisdom. I'm afraid that that look is very maniac in appearance. Like "I'm going to enjoy this" look on his face.
I bet that look is what his legendary giggling is all about. Because it seems that if Solas is about to kill someone and he's enjoying it....well.....he really seems to enjoy it.
I don't know if it's just my game, but Solas looked very blank when he was swaggering up to the mages. Do you have a video showing what you mean? O:
Sometimes I wish Solas didn't give Lavellan all the credit for making him see that the people of modern Thedas are people too. I mean, did he not hang out with the other companions?
I've said this before and have had people leap down my throat for it, but bugger it I'm a glutton for punishment; but I personally don't think Solas saw any of the other companions as friends (save Cole and high-approval Inquisitor, obviously). He very clearly had a lot of respect for a select few of them; Cass, again obviously, Varric*, IB if you saved the Chargers, maybe Blackwall once he's outsed, but other than that none he would consider friends.
I think about Varric's Wicked Grace game; everyone was there except Solas, Vivienne, and Leliana (IIRC), and I think that's for a specific reason. Now you could argue that maybe Varric didn't invite them, but I very much doubt that. Even Cass was there, and Varric did nothing but antagonize her (I can't remember a single banter where either of them bond but please correct me if I'm wrong). Before Trespasser I thought it was just because he was stuckup and didn't want to make friends, but now we know that at that stage he still thinks of everyone as gremlins, and that's quite late into the game! Plus the only people he leaves parting words with at the end is a HA/romanced Inquisitor, and then Cole later on.
I'm not saying I disagree and prefer a romanced Lavellan getting all the credit for changing his view on people, but there's a good reason why she does.
Edit: *Actually I'm on the fence whether Solas had a lot of respect for Varric. It seemed like he did sometimes (when talking to him about his books), but he could be very condescending towards him when he wanted to be. I don't know.
